We came back to the Iberostar, after visiting the Iberostar Beach in April. The main difference is the breakfast and lunch buffet at the Lindo has air conditioning. Also the lobby is AC, unlike the Beach/DelMar. Otherwise, not much difference. Grounds are nicer at the Lindo. More birds at the Beach/DelMar. Buffets are ok, restaurants are good for the most part. Some of their entrees are really appetizers. We got cold food twice at the Mediterranean. Otherwise food ok. Good choices. There is soft serve icecream on the beach. Absolutely delicious and so refreshing. Booze is best at the lobby and Prestige bars. Otherwise can be hit and miss. Pools are ok, there is a lazy river. Shows are awesome. The Prestige bar at the Del Mar is nicer than at the Maya, both in terms of decor and coldness of the AC. Also I found the snacks at the Beach prestige bar to be fresh, tasty, and more varied than the Maya. Might go back to the Lindo because of the AC buffet and lobby, otherwise both hotels were just lovely. I also thought the staff was top notch and extremely helpful and professional, from the front desk to the concierge to the waiters. Absolutely hands down. Our highlight was the turtle releases, we got to see 2 of them. It was an amazing experience. Would certainly return.

Visited in October 2019 for a wedding. It was part of a package including the flight. A decent all-inclusive located right on the beach. Not expensive at all, and the food and service were very good. Luckily it was not a busy period, so there was not any overcrowding. This is my first visit to Mexico, and I have enjoyed the visit so far.

Stayed a week in May 2019 and the resort was being repaired in multiple areas. You can tell it has been neglected and there rushing to make repairs. It is also not the safe tourist destination it once was and I've been coming to this region since 2003. The new cartels have broken the rule of not fighting in the tourist zones. They are not afraid of tourists getting crossed in the gunfire. I was thinking it wouldn't affect me as I would stay on the resort but one night as my family was walking around the shopping centre it was stormed by numbers armed officers. The hotel would not even acknowledge the fact this has taken place and no one felt very comfortable as no information was shared.

Gilberto was wonderful in making our Mexico trip that much more enjoyable! Gilberto is a great conversationalist and demonstrates genuine interest in the wellbeing of the guests. Thank you Gilberto!! Shoutout to Erik and Jorge. Those guys possess an excellent sense of humour and we were always greeted by them with a huge smile. We seriously enjoyed the beach games with them, their control of the music and microphone, and willingness to stay with us for lunch and talk a bit. Thank you Erik and Jorge! Well done everyone!

We just stayed at the Lindo for 7 nights. I must say the kids club is amazing. We have two six year olds and an 8 year old and they had a blast attending the kids club. They didn’t go everyday but wanted to. We typically took them mid to late afternoon as by then the sun was draining and they were ready for some air conditioning. Twice they stayed at the club for dinner and we met them at the theatre for their kids show. Our kids loved acting in the show and dressing up. The kids club definitely earns 5 stars. Yes, the hotel is older but they are using the off season to make improvements...I somewhat think to many improvements at once. This week they gutted the Lindo restaurant by the pool so that took two nightly restaurants out of the equation. A couple of days the noise was quite loud around the pool area and lots of debris and nails falling. On top of the restaurant they are also resurfacing the cement around the pool. The noise and dust from that was non stop. Both of those things were happening in the general area of the pool bar and entertainment section so it made it hard to talk and participate in activities as you couldn’t hear. My other negative about the pool is that there is no bar you can walk to at the big pool...your only option is to get into the water and go to the swim up bar. I think because of how it’s set up they need more servers walking around. We only got asked a couple times the entire week if they could get us a drink. Now to the food. This is where the hotel really nose dived for us. Yes it’s October and it’s off season so lower crowd levels but I think they took it to the extreme to save on help and not open restaurants. From a day to day basis it was extremely confusing on where we could eat and where we couldn’t. The concierges desk in your building would have a sign of open restaurants but we found those to be wrong and also the app. We would show up to a buffet to see a sign at the door directing you elsewhere. Buffets were having a terrible time keeping food out. Sometimes I think it was lack of employees and sometimes due to the only buffet open being so busy. One night we had to eat at the Maya buffet as it was the only one open and literally people stood and waited for food to come out...it wasn’t just a little while it was for a long time. When we left the buffet that evening there was a wait to get a table at the buffet...that is just crazy! Why only have one buffet open? We did eat Japanese, Steakhouse, and Mexican restaurants and found those to be decent...it was the buffets that really lacked. Again over all we enjoyed the trip because for us it was family time and we can let stuff roll off but we did really feel they needed to be way more organized on the food side of things.
