Amazing resort and staff
Julia e (Toronto, Canada) on Jul 20, 2024
This was our first major family vacation with a special birthday of hubby. We chose to stay close to the pool and this was the best decision. We arrive 2 days after hurricane Beryl and we couldn't notice any disruption. The staff was always ready to hep, always with a beautiful smile on their faces. Alejandro and Mario from the Olas pool bar were awesome and made the best drinks for all of us. There was a girl too that would bring us drinks and I wish I remember her name. She was the sweetest person and always ready to serve. I want to specifically thanks our concierge Fernanda for walking us through what the resort had to offer and helping with reservations on the restaurants. Room was always cleaned, towels freshened and bar stocked up. Pools were all awesome. Some were a bit deep for me, average 140cm, but I'm not very tall. So, that's ok. Some pools could be a bit cooler on the hotter days but that's ok too. Beach was close, clean and the bar was awesome. There was always some entertainment going on at different spots in the resort. The food was amazing. So many restaurants to choose from. We never dined in the same restaurant. We also loved to see the wild life. Lots of iguanas, coatis, agoutis, peacocks too see . All in all an amazing experience and we hope we come back.
Not the best

This resort left a lot to be desired. The rooms were fine, however 3 of our 4 nights the fire alarm went out in the middle of the night. The glass bottles and glasses they provide for you fill up with water is not great if you have young kids. My daughter dropped a glass in our room. I reached out to have someone bring a broom but no one ever showed. The next day we were out all day long and our room never got cleaned, therefore there was still glass that needed to be swept up. Funny thing is, we had two connecting rooms and the other room got cleaned. I once again reached out to guest services at 7pm to request someone come clean and atleast give us new towels. Our mini bar fridge was not stocked/replaced two days. The liquor is TERRIBLE are both the pool and restaurants. We did have a delicious dinner at El Tapatio, but the other restaurants were not great. On our last day we got a day pass for the members area, Star Prestige. This was definitely worth it to us. Less crowded pool and better drinks. Needless to say, we will not stay at an Iberostar resort again. It may be wonderful for some people/groups but just wasn’t for us. There did seem to be a lot of younger adults (college age) that were having a blast so maybe that’s more of the demographic. We still had a great family vacation and made the best of it.
