Covid travel safe and -HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Reviewed by Jessica P() on Jan 26, 2021
We visited during December over Christmas break. Like most people we wanted to make sure it was safe The staff were prepared and so accommodating. They had solid safety measures in place that we knew they had the best intentions. The room was clean and spacious. The pool was so relaxing-the lunch poolside is delicious. The Japanese restaurant Katsuya is AMAZING! We went two nights in a row. The chef came out to greet us and prepared something special for us the second night after we made a suggestion to them. The entire hotel staff was friendly. You can tell they appreciated us visiting, and they truly like their jobs. We are so happy we had this special getaway into the sunshine! Thank you Grand Hyatt Baha Mar. We will be back again!
Grand Hyatt During Covid-19
Reviewed by jackie11214() on Jan 25, 2021
Staying at the Grand Hyatt during Covid-19 1. Make sure you’re ready to travel with your health visa that has to be approved and paid $60 for. (This includes all testing 1st and 5th day needed) Do not fall for paying for testing. 2. Before checking in you are escorted to take your 1st day rapid covid test located in the resort. You are advised to stay in your room until results are given, then you are given your room keys. (Approximately 1 hour) 3. While checking in we were told our room was on the 15th floor (Standard king with balcony). We were offered a better view for an extra $100 per night. I denied. After 5 minutes of her “checking us in” she offered the same room upgrade for $75 per night. We denied yet again. (Keep in mind of the price drop in person if you are interested) 4. Make sure you are given your Resort Credit if given one while booking. Booking through Jetblue vacations we were given a $125 resort credit. Reception denied that, JetBlue then personally called and resolved that issue for us. 5. While being escorted to our room to wait for our results we were showed to a room on the 14th floor (the room with an upgrade). The lady didn’t know if we were being charged more but I made sure to call once getting inside. After denying twice we were still given the upgraded room. We obviously asked to be moved to our requested and original booking. This upgraded room had a tiny balcony with no chairs, only standing space. 6. After being escorted to our room included in our booking we now had a balcony 4 times the size with a table and two chairs, partial ocean view which was nice and view of the tennis courts and activities they tell you nothing about. This room was the same in size and decor, gave us a larger balcony, with an ocean view and saved us $100/75 per night. 7. We requested copies of our 1st day test that was easily emailed to us. (You can visit Atlantis with your proof of testing for free) On our 5th day we requested the same email of our results that they denied and asked us to pay for. They must have noticed us leaving the resort frequently and wanted us to only dine in with them. After going back and working with someone else, she emailed our results for us. Do not fall for paying for something your health visa covers. 8. Waters in the room are included! What we were not aware of is that you SHOULD always brush your teeth with bottled water. We got sick the first two nights due to not being told that. 9. You will also be asked if you want your room cleaned every three days. Deny, and state you want it cleaned EVERY day as you pay an extra $32 per day for. Many days we were left without sheets, extra toiletry, or bottled water. While calling the front desk we were ignored for 3 days without being able to get through. (They were not busy at all with about 10 families in the entire resort) Call room service and request all that is needed, they will forward the message for you. 10. CHECK YOUR BILL while checking out. We had almost $200 in mini bar charges that we did not use. That was taken off. We also expressed being ignored by the front desk for three days and one of our breakfast bills were taken off for $85. 11. Be aware of what you are being charged and what you are entitled to during your stay at the Grand Hyatt because they will definitely try to add on charges if you are unaware. The pools and beach were beautiful, kayaking is included, and you are always able to visit Atlantis as you please (The aquarium is free after 6pm). Do not forget they’re are restaurants beyond your resort, explore the island and make the most of your vacation.
Clean resort almost all to ourselves

We came in January for our wedding photos/honeymoon. The resort is clean and nice. The employees are all very friendly and helpful. Carna, their steakhouse is amazing with amazing service. It is pricey but one of the best steak dinners in the world. We went to dinner twice here during our 5 night stay. You could be nearly alone at the pools or beaches. They offer free use of kayaks and paddle boards and I did see wild sea turtles and sting rays while on the beach or using their free water equipment. Everyone is really nice and accommodating. There were a few hiccups; initially took two hours to get my room keys and luggage after arriving and taking our Covid test. Wish we had been better informed upon check in that their restaurants open during the pandemic were on a rotating schedule, maybe a printed flyer when checking in? Also wish we had known or been told at check in that the hotel will do your 5th day Covid test for free, if you are staying long enough to require that. We had already called a taxi to take us to town for that test and then someone suggested we ask the hotel. It’s nice the hotel offers it but we had no idea until we actually asked, they weren't listed on the sites approved for 5th day testing. We had to call a few times for maid service but they do provide it during the pandemic although you may have to ask and they wont clean the room with you in it.

I stayed at the Grand Hyatt Bahamar for 4 nights and I cannot complain about a thing! The Bahamas is very cautious with their COVID protocols. Upon arrival, we had a PCR-rapid test taken in the hotel and quarantined in our room until the results came back. About an hr later, the hotel provided us with keys and approval to leave the room. From there on out, the experience was amazing. There were various ways to remain entertained at the resort, even with closures due to the pandemic. I will agree with other reviews that the hotel is a bit pricey but you get your money’s worth!! Each associate were genuinely amazing and provided recommendations to improve our Bahamian experience. A special thank you to Eleon & Warren for their exceptional service at the Lynden & Book almost every night. The hotel & staff has exceeded my expectations. I would recommend Bahamar to anyone. Can’t wait to visit again!

Overall nice property, only drawback is how the hotel handled one of their employees stealing a valueable peice of my property when my luggage was in their possession. My advice, go to the Atlantis instead.
