Traditional spring hotels group, elegance and higher class, location is excellent, outside view is remarkable. Front desk service is very good, inside room is only average side. We booked with travel agent , rate is a lot better. No free wifi except in the lobby area.

    Magical! Wonderful Hotel!

We had dreamed about this hotel forever and said if we ever made it to Quebec we would stay here. I booked reservations months in advance of our arrival. My wife told me I was crazy when I booked a gold club suite for 2 nights. The price was expensive, but I couldn’t stand the thought of staying down the hill at some place less expensive and then looking up at the Frontenac thinking we should have stayed there. We got off the cruise ship we were on and took a short Uber ride up the hill to the hotel. We arrived around 10:00 am thinking we would check in and leave our bags until the room was ready. To our surprise they upgraded us to a corner suite and the room was available right away. The girl at the front desk that checked us in was super polite. We opted for the 2 double beds instead of the king as there were 3 of us in our family. We were in suite #1220 and the room had been renovated recently and was absolutely fantastic. There were 5 windows which looked to the south and to the east. All of the windows had no light curtains and an interior roll down shade. The views were amazing with the St. Lawrence River to the south and the citadel and city views to the east. The hotel staff was super polite and friendly and the interior of the hotel was very well maintained. The suite was located on the gold level so this came with breakfast in the morning and canopies in the evening. You needed to use your room card on these levels in the elevator to access these floors. We also had free highspeed Wi-Fi. The beds were very comfortable and we had an amazing time staying here. There were a couple observations we made but nothing really bad, just observations. The bathroom in our suite was quite small. It worked for us but I wanted to point this out. Also, there are tons of people here and around the hotel during the day. We understand as this massive structure can be seen all around the city and we would have visited too if we had not stayed here. Overall, we loved the place and think it was probably the nicest place we had ever stayed in. We highly recommend a stay at the Chateau Frontenac.

My days staying at the Château go back over 60 years. The Château now shows it age (as do I) and the lobby is overrun by tourist and tour groups which I had to navigate through to get to the restaurants. (They don’t move for you). I know they can’t keep people out but it seems they could limit tours. Recognizing its age, upgrading the Château has its limits. My room, a double king facing the river, had been redecorated at some point but needs another refreshing. Bathrooms are old but serviceable. Given the prices it can command, the hotel should add a few reasonable amenities. There is no cosmetic mirror. A simple standing one from Target would do. There are no bathrobes. In a hotel of this quality, there should be bathrobes — particularly because the rooms are rather damp. (Not the hotel’s fault). Both restaurants are superb but showy and pricey. In sum — great to revisit and grand location. But, a bit of an extravagance for what you get.

We were not guests at the Chateau. We simply visited to enjoy the beautiful building up close. It is WOW. There are many details to take in, both inside and outside. Worth 30 minutes of your time for sure!
