We recently completed a 5 night stay. I give the hotel an excellent rating due to the beautiful hotel grounds and location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Service was very good, all our requests were handled promptly. Our room in the modern tower was nicely appointed and refreshed twice a day. It was very clean and the balcony contained nice padded furniture. The view from our 3rd floor room was beautiful and quiet. I've included a few photos taken from our balcony. The hotel website is the best place to view the rooms. Without professional photography equipment it is very difficult to due justice to the rooms. They are not huge rooms but who really spends a lot of time in their room in Hawaii? The bathroom was roomy and included a bidet type toilet seat. If you are a Marriott Platinum Elite member they offer complementary breakfast at Azure, wow was that nice. Great food and a wonderful view for breakfast. This was a great way to start each day. We rented an umbrella and loungers on the beach our first day and found that to be totally relaxing. The view of Diamond Head is great. The water is quite shallow and clam which was liked, no big waves to knock us around. Lots and lots of shops and restaurants are within easy walking distance of the hotel. The hotel really does have an elegant feel to it but without the pretentiousness. The services we received from the Concierge were very good. They provided a wealth of options of things to do sorted by region of the island. We took a taxi from the airport to and from the hotel and the cost was apprx $55-60 each way. There are shuttle options but they stop at a lot of the hotels so it would eat up some time. The Mai Tai's at the Mai Tai Bar at the hotel were the best we had on the island. So smooth. Everyone we encountered was pleasant. I highly suggest staying here.

It is clear why Don and Megan chose to spend their Hawaii vacation at this exquisite property. Beautiful and well maintained grounds. Good air conditioning, very comfortable bed and friendly staff. Our favorite hotel in Oahu so far!

Our family discovered that Mailani in Hawaiian means “treated in a royal manner” As the name implies, The Royal Hawaiian ensures to serve its hotel guests — with authentic Hawaiian hospitality and the highest quality of service! Sandra gave me great reading material & I was very enlightened with Waikiki and hotel history! The view is breathtaking! The staff here are fantastic. They anticipated every question and made us feel very much at home. Everything here was wonderful - however, it is the staff that make this hotel special! As we checked in the Front Desk, Sandra welcomed us with a sincere, genuine concern for my family to feel so welcomed. She represents The Royal Hawaiiain Resort in a top-notch, superb manner - and made a memorable impression on our family! She went the extra mile to address our special accessibility needs, as well as highlight a family celebration / recognition, gave us cool historical info and so much more! Sandra's wonderful smile, demeaner, respect, and courtesy to all the guests are certainly to be commended on! Thank you Royal Hawaiian Resort for your Professionalism and excellent Customer Service. Blessings! Sallis Family cc: Corporate Office Re: A Memorable stay

    5 stars in paradise

The Royal Hawaiian is the iconic pink stucco hotel right in the middle of Waikiki Beach amidst the modern glass hotel towers. The nice thing is that this ocean side slice of paradise is away from the streets full of traffic, noise, and other tourists. It’s tucked back, buffered by beautifully kept tropical gardens. The lobbies, lanai’s, restaurants and shops in the hotel are in keeping with design of the original hotel characterized by wide walkways and covered corridors. We stayed in the tower in an ocean front room with a small lanai. The view encompassed almost all of the beach and beach-front activities, curving around to reveal Diamondhead in profile. Our room was well appointed and comfortable, but on the small side. However, we don’t spend much time in our room, so it didn’t much matter. The bath was nice, well lit, and the pink striped robes were yummy. I missed my chance to purchase one in the shop. I should have gotten one. Breakfast is an elaborate buffet and/or order off the menu with seating outside or in. A broad selection, delicious - you probably won’t need lunch. This is a busy place with lots of activity, lots of events, lots of people, but the ambiance is soothing. It is not inexpensive, but don’t you owe yourself a grand experience when in Hawaii?

This is a Marriott Luxury Collection hotel. It deserves the classification. Arriving after a long flight from DC, we were treated like royalty from the moment we arrived. It's not just the location (on the beach at Waikiki and great rooms we had (two visits to adjust to the time zone changes over a ten day period) that made this hotel special. It was the staff - genuinely welcoming, attentive, informative and caring. Many had been there for many years and understood well how to make guests stay memorable. The check-in process let us know our options, the concierge's guidance was flawless, our Mai Tais at the Mai Tai lounge on premises were the best umbrella drinks ever, and the chaises on the beach gave us the best view of Waikiki beach we could ask for. Why call this review - Don't change a thing? We know Marriott's high standards. The Royal Hawaiian already meets and exceeds them.
