Overall not a good experience

Meander417103 on May 04, 2024

I can see why people like it, but it's a complete rip off, compared to other hotels within walking distance it's dated, upkeep and maintenance seems to be to the minimum. My issue is necessarily with the above, but with they charge you for everything. Go out to expensive restaurant, you have left overs, request a microwave, that will be $25, deck chairs $40-$90, even though I selected free breakfast (as an ambassador), more nickel and diming on the menu, I never went to a Marriott hotel were your given 2 options on the menu, anything else your charged. This was never stated when I checked in, also menu selection is terrible and food is over priced, no taste, oh and the small cereal I got, I was charged $10 for something that costs $1 anywhere else. When I went to check out, the Hawaiian darker skinned guy on the desk, didn't not give a flying flip, just did not care and walked off after I got my bill, anyone else around just kept their head down. My advise is go somewhere else, better options for the same $$$ LOL $25 for the use of a microwave, what we're back into the early 90s at Motel 6?

First trip to Honolulu, so glad we chose this hotel!

Laurafrom330 (Richfield, Ohio) on May 04, 2024

This resort lived up to or exceeded expectations in every way. We loved our gorgeous tower room, staff were very friendly and we had a spectacular dinner at Azure. Property is simply breathtaking. We did the luau, which I reviewed separately. There is also plentiful shopping nearby, from basic to high end.

Love the hotel, but the hotel bar can be a pigeon roost.

James D (Atlanta, Georgia) on Apr 30, 2024

Love the hotel, but the Mai Tai bar can become a pigeon roost at times. Dirty, filthy disease-ridden pigeons, walking all over the place, landing on tables, landing on parasols, and defecating on guests, including my son! The server was very gracious and agreed to get the shirt dry cleaned and delivered to his room. But can’t they get control of these darn pigeons?

Making an Anniversay stay over the top

Mark M (Beaufort, South Carolina) on Apr 30, 2024

We were happy with the hotel, the services and the amenities, but what set this resort over the top was the service we received from the Stewardship Manager Robert. Robert’s demeanor and engaging conversation on our last night at dinner made this a stay to remember. Thank you Robert, your service was very appreciated.

Rip off hotel

sydneysG1604FM (Seattle, Washington) on Apr 29, 2024

I would not recommend staying at this hotel or engaging in any type of business with them. Case in point, my husband and I met this couple at the beach. They had rented two lounge chairs and an umbrella from the Royal Hawaiian. They decided to do something else and gave us their lounge chairs and umbrella. Fast forward to 2 hours later and this young kid comes by doing a name check. Since we didn’t know the couple’s last name they kicked us out. I explained to the kid that the couple left us their lounge chairs and rental which they paid for the full day. The young kid didn’t care and demanded that we leave so we moved our stuff. Honestly, what harm is it to let us stay. I couldn’t believe it. Anyway, I will never do business with this hotel again. They treat their guests like crap and don’t let them share their rental despite paying for it for the entire day.
