    I loved the way they animated the shows, super cool (Ruben, Ricardo and Viky) Animam very well in the pool, they put parent activities I also like that they put on different types of music so that everyone can dance they have good control and cleaning and security measures

    We had a scheduled trip to Cancun prior to the CDC changes that required a negative test to get back in the U.S. We were very hesitant to still go to Mexico because of the change. We ended up changing resorts and staying at Sandos Caracol because they offered free antigen testing and a free quarantine stay if we tested positive. We felt comfortable still going because if we did end up testing positive it wouldn’t cost us any extra money to quarantine there. We are so glad we changed resorts and went to Sandos Caracol. It was amazing! The staff were all very professional and always had on masks and face shields. We felt so comfortable being there and never worried that any of us would get Covid while being there. The resort was super clean and there were a lot of activities to do without ever having to leave the resort. From the moment we first arrived and were greeted by Jose Rico we felt comfortable and taken care of. He made sure that we got all of our dinner reservations and that we knew where everything was. Every time we saw him in the lobby he always made sure to ask if we needed anything and how we were doing. Javier also made sure that we had everything we needed and was always checking on us. Karla at the front desk was also very helpful and always found change for us. We should have brought a lot more $1’s for tips, but she changed out our $20’s so it wasn’t a problem. Our room was always super clean and sanitized every day. My boys loved coming back and seeing how the pillows had been arranged and that they room was always super clean. The entertainment team did a great job! Any time we were at the pool and they’d make an announcement my kids would go running to find out what activity they were doing. Richi, Ruben, Frida, and Victoria were great at their jobs! They did a great job of getting the guests involved but also keeping everyone safe. We did the petting zoo and the Jade River snorkeling with Francisco. He made it a lot of fun. He joked with my boys and was super helpful. He was very knowledgeable about the animals at the farm and about the plant and animal life in the Jade River. All of the bartenders were fantastic! A few of our favorites were Guillermo and Luis at the pool side bar, and the bartenders at the Elefante bar. I taught them all how to make a dirty diet Coke, and they always remembered me and asked if I wanted another one. My husband met Ferdando who is a groundskeeper and had some excellent conversations with him about the hotel and maintaining its clean and well kept appearance. He and all the other grounds people were always out working and making the resort look even better. Our favorite restaurant was Templo. We ate there twice because my kids loved it so much. Arturo did such a great job of entertaining and making really great Japanese food. The Steak House was our second favorite restaurant. Rigoberto and Leya worked the dinner and lunch buffets. They always remembered us and would make us feel special because they would ask about a day and the things we’ve been doing. We also really liked Monica, she made the hamburgers and hot dogs at the beach. My boys would get 2 or 3 hamburgers a day from her. We went scuba diving, snorkeling, and deep sea fishing right from the resort with the Scuba Libre Dive Shop. It was so nice and convenient to get on the boat right at the beach and not have to travel anywhere. Edy and Arvi took us on all of our trips and they did a fantastic job. We spent one day at Sandos Playacar because they let you go to the other resort for free for a day. My husband and I decided that because there aren’t as many rocks in the water at Playacar the beach is better, but other than that we liked Carcol better. We liked the atmosphere better at Caracol and we liked all the Eco activities that we did there. Plus it has a much bigger water park and my boys had a lot of fun at the waterpark. We will definitely be coming back to Caracol.

    Great Stay, Wonderful Resort!

    Originally planning on going to Florida, with prices the way they are right now, we chose to go to Cancun. This particular resort was very nice, although the beach isn't what you would get at other resorts in Cancun. Our room was nice, but mosquitos are present and they do get into your rooms, not a deal-breaker, but just be aware. Our only objection to the stay was the loud music from the nightly performance in the middle of the resort. The constant drumbeat could literally be felt in our room. Workers using powered leaf blowers on the walkways every day was somewhat annoying, as it distracted from the serenity of the area. The required covid test to get back on the plane was a real thorn in the side. A cell phone with e-mail is required for this in order to receive your results. This was a real problem, as one of our phones would not receive e-mail at the resort. We had to use the service of the concierge at the hotel to help us get the info we needed. It took almost 45 minutes to finally get the messages onto the one phone that worked. Why they couldn't have given us a printout of the results is absolutely beyond me. I had to come up with the information again at the airport. Locating the file on my phone and showing it at the airport was a real hassle as well. The phones are also required to receive a menu at any of the restaurants. You took a shot of the QR code to download the menu. I don't know what people without cell phones would do here. Fortunately the stupid face masks weren't required throughout the resort, only when you went through a buffet line at a restaurant. Don't buy into all of the hotel upgrade packages they try to sell you, as they are probably something that you will never use. We spent two hours listening to promotions that we didn't want or need. That was two hours of wasted time for us. Other than that, we had a wonderful time.

    FEB 2021 vs FEB2020

    This review is intended for people who have stayed at Sandos Caracol Eco previously who may be wondering what is different this year. The resort seems to be doing the very best they can with the resources they have available. We stayed Feb 13-Feb19. The resort was at 10% capacity. Accommodations: several blocks of rooms are closed. If you booked an eco penthouse make sure you are given a penthouse. The difference is the penthouse has two separate bathrooms with the kids bathroom being in the kids room. In my experience the suites have two showers and two WC but they are all in the same room--also the suites usually have a bathtub on the patio. Rooms were very clean as usual. Fridge was not stocked daily as it had been in the past but if you like canned drinks you can ask for them at the bar and bring them back. Restaurants: The Brazilian restaurant (LOs Lirios?) is closed. The Mexican restaurant (Mascara?) is also closed as well as the Mapache Bar. The Riviera is also closed. La Laguna and La Toscana rotate being open for breakfast and La Toscana is open for lunch. In addition burgers and hot dogs are available in front of the Vegan restaurant from around 11 to 3 each day. La Toscana, El Templo and the Steak and Fish restaurant rotate being open for dinner, with two of each being open each night. Each night, however, there are different options in each restaurant-- for example the first night we were there we had the Brazilian restaurant menu but it was served at the steak and fish place. You make your reservations upon arrival for the whole week. If you want butter or a spoon you must ask your server. Room service is available any time, we ordered it once it took twenty minutes and was awesome. Entertainment: The shows this year are mostly "tribute" shows. I respect the resort trying to use the same entertainers as much as possible. Shows begin at 7pm. I really liked the early start but you need to plan accordingly with your dinner reservation if the show is important to you. After the show there are Zumba lessons/ dancing in front of the theater from 8-9 or so. Richie, Sergio, Ruben and Victoria do a great job! COVID: I did not see a single employee without a mask the entire week I was there. Distancing is observed in each restaurant and the show. To get your COVID test look for the desk in the main lobby it is near where the concierge tables are. The first step is to schedule your test. Dont wait until the last minute to schedule. When you schedule you must scan a code with your phone which takes you to a form that you complete for each family member. When you present for your test you will go to a hotel room close to the lobby. There are three medical personnel there. You need to have your PASSPORT with you. The test takes about 10 seconds and we had our results within a couple of hours. Take a screen shot of each persons results because you will need to access them quicky and several times when you get to the airport. Lastly I just want to mention the awesome staff-- remember all inclusive does not give you a pass on tipping. Thanks especially to Guillermo and Tainer in the pool bar. Arturo and Leticia!     This was my first time visiting this resort and it was not a nice experience. Check in takes forever. My room was not assigned until 3 hours after check in. Was assigned to a second floor and I had a baby in a stroller with me. Not very convenient. No Elevators. Food was NOT good, if you are a foodie and want to enjoy good food this resort is not for you. Found bugs between sugar packets. Because this resort is literally in the middle of a jungle my room was sooo humid it was so uncomfortable for me and my baby. The ups were the entertainment by the pool. The 2 guys were awesome and made it a point to talk to the guests. Main pool swim up bar was not open but the elite swim up bar was open. NOT cool at all. Ocean was not clean at all. If you walk a mile to the left or right of the hotel the beach is clean but not in front of the hotel The only thing I can say was beautiful from this resort was the cenote. This is also a family resort if you're looking for nighttime fun this is not for you. Last entertainment is at 8-9pm. Sports bar is open until 11pm but there's no music or entertainment there just pool tables and air hockey tables. Lunchtime by the pool sucks. Only selection are hot dogs, hamburgers and nachos. And everything runs out quick. since this hotel is animal friendly during lunch time if you're eating by the pool the animals will attack. racoons will come close and take your food right out of your hands.
