    AT HOME IN New York

Located at E94th Street and 2nd Avenue, The Marmara Manhattan is an ideally located apartment hotel in New York City. Five blocks walk to Central Park and the Museum Mile, there is a subway station immediately outside the entrance. There are numerous local restaurants in the neighbourhood. Our one bedroom apartment was spacious and comfortable, if slightly worn. Reception is very friendly and helpful and open 24/7 (or close to). There is a good laundry on site so visitors have a home space in the city that never sleeps. The only negative was that, despite a huge cooktop and oven, large dishwasher and fridge, there were not enough plates and cutlery and cookware (not even a skillet) to make self-catering really viable for more than the occasional meal..

    BEST BOUTIQUE HOTEL

The Marmara is my new favorite home away from home! The lobby is amazing! When you walk inside- you know you are walking into an elegant but not stuffy boutique hotel. It is understated, tasteful, and modern. The interior design elements chosen for the lobby are so memorable- from the glass entryway, to the modern bronze statues, to the flying bird installation to the sleek sofas. The restaurant and bar in the lobby don’t overrun the lobby- it isn’t a party atmosphere- it is a sophisticated elegant atmosphere you can be comfortable to have a meal or a drink, wait for friends or just enjoy the decor. The staff is very friendly. The restaurant is very willing to work with any dietary restrictions you may have and make modifications to the dishes as they are able. The front desk staff seems genuinely happy to be working here and greets you cheerily with a smile, and with repeat visits, they make you feel like you have just returned home. Im obsessed with our room- so much so that its our 2nd time in the same room! My daughter, my luggage, and I have plenty of personal space! I love that we are not on top of each other! It is very difficult to find hotel rooms in Manhattan that are not the size of shoe boxes and do not show the wear and tear on the property. The Marmara is a standout on this point. We don’t have to shimmy around our beds and luggage to walk around the room or go to the bathroom. Because there is enough space to live and exist, you can walk upright unhindered, and really enjoy the room without bumping into anything because the room functions actually the way it was designed to be used. The room itself is chic and beautiful. The entire room has dark wood floors and much of the custom furniture is made of the same. We have 2 super comfortable queen sized beds a large window, and a kitchenette. One of the things I love most is being able to make myself tea in the evening with a proper super clean hot water pot. The marble bath isn’t big- but it is really nice and clean and has C.O. Bigelow Pharmacy products throughout, as well as cushy bathrobes and comfy bedroom slippers. In case you need it- there is space for your glam squad. You don’t actually have use your bed as a staging/seating area for anything. There are sensible, appropriate height chairs, a beautiful small glass dining table, plenty of outlets, and space to maneuver. Another plus is that the 6 train is literally right outside of the hotel, and the next stop is 42nd Street where you can connect through to pretty much every train line. This is our new favorite spot we will be returning to on the regular! In case you are checking out the hotels in this area, we also tried the Mondrian which is a block away and it did not hold a candle in any way to The Marmara.

The positives: The hotel is near the corner of 2nd Avenue and E94th street. It's right next to the Q train entrance. Very convenient. The staff could not have been nicer. The rooms are well designed. Roomy, comfortable and with full kitchens. Lots of glass, so you may have a nice view. Rooms are clean. I read some reviews indicating problems with the elevators being slow, but I found them to be just fine. The negatives: Some of the rooms, at least, are in need of updating. Carpet and furniture look worn. The big issue, though, is traffic noise. The hotel is near a busy intersection and a few blocks from a hospital. There are sirens. They are quite loud on the lower floors. Much better on the upper floors. A noise-sensitive traveller will probably want an upper floor. Just to give an idea, maybe 8 may be to 8 is too low and 20 may be high enough. I'd cheerfully stay here again, if I was guaranteed an upper floor. The upper floor would get 4 stars, maybe 5. But, I don't think I'd be able to sleep on a really low floor, so that would get one star, despite the positive features.

A big thank you to all staff at The Marmara Manhattan, who were very helpful & polite at all times - a credit to this hotel! The daily maid service was efficient, with clean towels & a good tidy up. However, the maintenance of our room (702) needs to be addressed. Loose marble floor tile in kitchen - a accident hazard. Broken plug socket underneath desk in lounge - same issue. Broken wardrobe door hinge in bedroom. Totally inadequate sofa bed in lounge - not only uncomfortable to use for seating (it's worn out & sagging) but useless to attempt to sleep on by our daughter when pulled out.The thin mattress & 'trampoline type' base sagged badly when anyone attempted to use it. We did raise our concerns to the concierge (Matt) who acted straightaway by sending a replacement roll-away bed up to our room - this was perfect for our daughter. I cannot stress enough that this sofa bed is not suitable for guests, it should be immediately removed & replaced with a new functional piece. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at The Marmara Manhattan hotel and would return again, Regards, The Keeling family.

It is located within walking distance from Central Park (15 minutes) and with a metro station just around the corner. Vegetarians will find a very convenient store nearby where you can find vegan soups, juices and delicious stuff. Very practical if you want to get ready some meals instead of going out. A supermarket is also nearby. The bed was comfortable and the one bedroom appartment was roomy. You will have a full kitchen and a sofa-bed in the living room. Lots of light! All the staff was really helpful and kind. We had a problem with the check-out and they were understanding and let us time enough to pack before leaving the room. We really appreciated that. To sum up, the aparthotel is comfortable, convenient and the staff is very kind. Meals are not provided but you will have your own kitchen.
