Dirty and Old. You have so many other choices, why go to an old property where they charge a $30 resort fee which is not a resort. Very disappointed with our stay. Hyatt should not promote this hotel.

I went to this hotel as part of a leadership training Summit for the company I work with. The layout of the hotel was very interesting but truly functional! It was easy to find my room, and the staff were very helpful in explaining just where to go and pointing it out as well. I enjoyed the privacy of my room without being too far away from the lobby. It was a great stay, and I look forward to staying there again!

This is not the newest or fanciest Hyatt Regency but it is a cute resort I enjoy, especially for a category 3. Note, I am a Globalist so I enjoy a free breakfast and the resort fee is waived. The resort has an executive par 3 golf course included with your room, which I use to brush up on my short game. Gorgeous views. It also has bike rentals, a lawn chess game, shuffleboard and three pools/hot tubs. Fitness center is small but well equipped. Great activities for families! It’s also under 3 miles to Fashion Island. The rooms are OK. Nothing special but I’m not in them during the day much. I’ve read the walls are thin but I haven’t experienced this myself. No weight scale in fitness center. :(.

    Pleasantly Surprised

I attended a conference at this Hyatt and was surprised it felt like a resort when the word "resort" is not in its name. Unlike a high rise property, this hotel is a series of low rise buildings which provide plenty of opportunity to walk outside its spacious grounds and take advantage of the California sunshine. My group really enjoyed all the evening fire pits - which were cozy and conducive to small group discussions. My room overlooked their executive golf course - another surprise. I particularly liked the quiet restaurant - good food and relaxing.

Lackluster stay at the Newport Hyatt

We were put in a room that was right next to the entrance of one of the buildings and people were constantly walking in and out making loud noise all night. The walls are so thin that I could actually hear the other people using the restroom next door to us!! We could hear their conversations as well as their TV all night long. When I was checking out the next morning I shared the feedback with the receptionist and she had no response other than to say a lack luster "sorry". We ordered a bottle of wine to our room that showed a price of $40 dollars on the menu- 10 minutes later the wrong bottle of wine showed up, no problem, they came back with the right one quickly. That said, the wine was terrible and we could not drink it. We found out the next morning that there was a 30 dollar service charge on top of the $40 dollar bottle, so an 8 dollar retail bottle of wine that we did not drink because it was so horrible cost us $70 dollars. To say we were disappointed in our stay was an understatement. The grounds we're ok, the people were generally nice (other than reception) but we won't be back if we want to actually sleep during our stay.
