Excellent Location, Incredible Beach, Amazing Views

I was traveling solo and stayed here for 10 days while getting some dental work done. I felt very safe and comfortable and have no qualms about staying here again. The location is excellent as you are in the midst of the tourist strip and local buses which are an excellent way to see the city can be caught right in front of the hotel. The front desk staff always tried to accommodate any request I had and every staff member I encountered was friendly and helpful. The hotel also takes recycling very seriously and they have organic and inorganic waste containers on each floor and also recycle the plastic water bottles they provide you with. The rooms are large with a wall of massive windows so there is lots of light and you can sit on the bed or sit on the spacious balcony and enjoy the ocean views. My room was very clean and modern, the bed was comfy and the washroom was a nice size with a walk in shower; hot water was always available. It was so wonderful being situated right on the beach and I had my toes in the sand within 3 minutes of leaving my room. I walked for miles on the beach every day and enjoyed watching all the activities and the impromptu bands that would start playing music on the beach . The few complaints I had; 1)there was no bar fridge in the room, I ended up buying a styrofoam cooler and ice from the little store adjacent to the hotel so I could keep the bottled water cold. 2)I found the music at the pool was very loud so I didn’t get to enjoy my balcony as much as I would have liked to since my room overlooked the pool. Other than that I am looking forward to coming back.
Awful place

Booked star palace. Resort is super small, dirty crowded small pool, food was awful and expensive. Books are thin and on a concrete slab. Manager did move us to pacific tower next door but beds are the same and pool is also super small and very crowded and beer bottles and trash everywhere.Only my second day here and I hurt so bad from the beds I want to leave. Overall bad experience and don’t recommend at all.
Great Location....

The location in Zona Doarada is great with nice views out to the islands, and its walking distance to many great restaurants, shops and bars. But the service was lacking, food was just OK. Wifi was horrible outside of the lobby-area. Also you will need to speak some rudimentary Spanish as very few employees speak English. Also they need more loungers at the beach.
Not great!

For the price they charge I expected a better service. Rooms are new and very clean. WiFi is good. No hot water at any time or any day and pressure was very low. I reported this several times to reception but they kept telling me it was the time I was showering. I purposely chose quieter times such as 6.30am & 3pm but the water wasn’t even luke warm. In the evening the music is so loud from the bars across the street you cannot sleep. I brought ear plugs but could feel the vibrations of the bass when in bed. Very old fashioned that they still charge you a cash deposit on check in and give the remote control on check in. They should put mini bars/fridges in the room and also look at the drainage system as it seemed very slow in the bathroom. They gave me a bracelet on check in. I have no idea what for as I was not all inclusive. Computer chair was quite dirty and needed a good wipe down but everything else was spotless - including public areas. Staff overall friendly and gym is nice. Small but sufficient. Towels seemed to have some stains on them. It looked like rust from the machine so I was constantly asking for new ones too.

I have visited Mazatlan 4 times every time I come it is a great experience! But when I visits Star Palace it it the best possible . They make you feel like home the employees are wonderful and treat you like family inviting you to all the activities available. I recommend this hotel for any family with or without children. The activity guy that made me feel at home was he is amazing inviting me to play soccer , volleyball, or even to swim (Jorge Huerta)
