We were looking forward to our trip and when we arrived at the hotel there were only a couple of cars in the parking lot which was confusing because of how close this hotel is to the Disney Parks. We checked in with no issues and the desk attendant was nice and professional. The 2 stars we give is because of the location and the desk clerk. When we got to the room there was no seal on the door or sticker to show that it had been sanitized. We know about this because we stay at hotels often for work. The room had a clean appearance. While trying to unpack, I went to turn on the light by the bed and noticed that it did not have a lightbulb in it. Really? The hot tub was not able to be used and it had cones and tape around it blocking it off. Our room had a view of the pool area including the towel tent that had black mold or mildew on it. The next morning we woke up to take a shower and had no hot water! Then we find out that we had no breakfast. Out of 3 elevators, only 1 was working. We had reserved 4 nights but after 1 night, we didn't want any more and checked out to go elsewhere. Very disappointed!

My daughter and I stayed here 2 nights before we checked into our Disney hotel. The room was very clean. The bed was super soft. The front desk staff was very nice. We didn’t have breakfast or house keeping because of COVID but we truly enjoyed our stay and will be back soon.

    Good stay

Only real downside is that free breakfast was offered and when we got their we were informed they weren’t going to do it and we felt that was in the value of the room we got. Otherwise it was a beautiful room with a big comfy bed. Room temp was perfect when we entered which was nice because we went in and passed out

What happened to our favorite affordable Disney area hotel?!

We’ve stayed at the Holiday Inn & Suites: Orlando SW - Celebration Area hotel at least four times. Each of our previous experiences far exceeded our expectations (which brought us back each time) and we often recommended this hotel to our family and friends. For a very competitive price we would receive a spacious/well appointed/clean room, comfortable bed, and a decent sized bathroom (with sufficient water pressure.) This time however...not so much. We arrived on Monday, September 14, at approximately 10pm. The parking lot was deserted (we were 1 of 6 cars) and littered with debris. The lobby had an awful and unpleasant mildew odor (detectable through our face masks.) We were not sure if it was due to COVID-19, but the restaurant/lounge was completely shuttered. Unnervingly, several parts of the hotel were closed off with caution tape. It truly felt as though we stepped into a completely different hotel or a hotel that was soon to be closed and being readied for demolition. The check in experience was very pleasant, but we learned they will NOT clean the room UNLESS requested —this is NOT mentioned or disclosed anywhere during booking. However, the amenity fee and deposit (which we’re used to and gladly paid before) is STILL $20 per night, and $50 per stay?! Only one of the three elevators are in operation, and said elevator feels very unsafe and shakes violently. Coincidentally, the required Florida inspection certificate expired over a year ago. This means this elevator has not been inspected in over 2 years. When was the last time it was serviced? When we arrived in the room it felt very different from what we were used to. The room felt very cramped and oddly arranged and we were greeted by ants around the coffee maker. On the balcony we found a cigarette butt-cup, burned out light bulb, and an eroding ceiling. The bathroom had hair and fecal matter on the side of the toilet and long dark hair caught in the shower curtain. Reluctantly, we took much needed showers (with nonexistent water pressure) and the tub would not drain. As the water filled the tub it brought up (what looked like) chunks of partially digested food. Gross! This combined with no extra pillows and no clothes iron; told the unfortunately grim story this would be a VERY challenging stay. Before bed, we went looking for an ice and vending machine. No ice bucket in the room. Okay. We brought cups. No ice or vending machine on our floor. Okay. We’ll look for one. We venture out and find said items on the floor below. But before we do, the death-trap elevator (which rivals Disney’s Hollywood Studios Tower of Terror) is in such disrepair; it simply refused to stop on the floor we requested. The elevator took us down two floors, up three floors, all the way to the ground floor, and finally up to the original floor requested. Seems incredibly efficient and now no FastPass+ is required! Needless to say, we took the stairs on the way back. The vending machine took our $3.00 donation like a church collection plate and dispensed nothing. Defeated and mildly shaken; we went back to the room with our two sad disposable cups of ice and nothing to use it for. The first night neither of us got any sleep. We kept waking up every 20-30 minutes. Why? Because the bed is positioned too close (less than 3 feet) to the A/C unit. We were popsicles one minute and sweating with hot flashes the next. Fun! The next night, (early Tuesday morning) around 5am, there were many disturbances in the hallway. Screaming children, banging doors, banging walls, and loud talking. We called the front desk. No response. Thank goodness for earplugs. The following evening, (late Wednesday night) around 10pm, there sounded as though there was 10-15 people above us. Loud talking and screaming on their balcony. Sliding door slamming. Children running around. This lasted until 1am when we went down to the front desk to ask them to address the issue. We have one more night here, but we are looking to make alternate lodging arrangements. Aside from the COVID-19 concerns, the issues we’ve had, the behavior of guests, and the overall condition of the hotel (which has fallen into obvious disrepair.) We will not return to this hotel and can no longer confidently recommend it to our friends and family.
