We were the first diners in the Picante, Mexican Restaurant this evening (Occtober 14, 2019), were seated in a corner table and asked for Jhonaton's table-side cooking experience. We were told about this magnificent experience by a waiter the evening before (also excellent service). We had Jhonaton prepare flank steak and shrimp flambe style and were as mezmerized as we were filled with a wonderful, tasty dinner. Jhonaton had style and grace, always ensuring our experience was as good as the food! The other serve staff watched, so a lesson was ensuing, and the other patrons all looked on and asked about the items we were being served. It was out last evening in Cancun and Jhonaton helped make it very memorable. The entire Breathless Resort Experience was wonderful. We will be back! Many thanks everyone. Five Stars!

Our stay has been all of these ratings from high to low and round and round. Initially the hotel was amazing, do doubt about this, so welcoming, very clean and grounds well kept. Lovely pools and the beach is kept very tidy. They have their procedures and they stick to them. The rooms, they are large and they do have the wow factor, we booked an Ocean Front Sea View room, we generally go for a beach hotel and choose the sea-view option but you know how it can be, you can see the sea but only if you looked in a certain direction. This time I thought, beach front, this was the moment I was going to be blown away by the view, I would be sitting on the balcony, especially in the balcony jacuzzi, watching ocean but being on the second floor, again you could see the sea but still more tree than sea, it felt more of a tropical view bearing in mind we paid extra for ocean front. They have a device in your room that controls lighting, temperature and lets you know the events for the day, which restaurants are closed etc. very useful feature. The food, one of the other reasons we choose this hotel was the restaurant choice, we love an all inclusive but with options :-) This hotel as well as the buffet has restaurant options day and night. They always ask if you have any allergies before you are seated which is great. Food is what I guess bounced my rating the most. It can be all very yummy at times but I guess for a longer stay it then felt very limited. Whilst I don't have any allergies, I don't eat meat. On the room app you are able to see the menu's including the vegetarian one but if you go to the restaurant and ask for this menu they say it is not available but they have options. Whilst yes they are happy to do things without something but with limited menu choices as you would expect in the smaller restaurants, there are only a few dishes which meat can be removed from. I suppose it wouldn't be so bad if the themed nights at the buffet restaurant were a bit more themed. The Spoon restaurant at lunchtime is better, all sorts of fresh stuff going on, evenings a different story. The other restaurants close from time to time during the week, the type of restaurant which is closed is generally the theme for the buffet. This is then in the second week when the Italian is closed and the buffet restaurant was having an Italian themed night. Lets go to Spoon and have some pasta, only to find that there was no one their cooking pasta fresh you had to choose one of the 3 options in the hot pots, so just one vegi. I get it that our stay was in the lower season but a theme night without options or freshly cooked food, I felt was disappointing. Reduce the other cooked food relating to other restaurants which are open and do the theme completely. Also whilst on subject of food, our second trip to the Strip Grill, obviously a meaty restaurant, hubby's choice, so I choose I few sides to have as my main, which I was more than happy to do but the waiter then asked if I preferred to have a vegetable kebab instead, great, yes please, so I ordered this instead with the cheese and corn turnover as a starter, hubby ordered the chicken version but they were delivered to the table the wrong way around, the chicken one was given to me. You have to go to the Nook for a cuppa at some point, or even grab some milk to take back to you room for your morning cuppa. Lidia will definitely look after you. :-) Hubby had a icky tummy for half of the hols but these things happen I guess, who knows whether it was one thing or a mixture. Elements show is a must! Thursday's We were lucky enough to go away for a couple of weeks but ended up feeling like if you are going here for a shorter time, long weekend away for a special occasion, which a lot of people seem to be doing, you will be completely amazed and have a fab time. I feel that this type of visitor is the hotels preferred choice rather than those just spending their main holiday at there hotel. Overall we did have a great time away, just a little disappointed on a couple of keys reasons why we choose this particular hotel.

I definitely enjoyed my stay at this resort. At times the party pool seemed a bit much but it was so nice to be able to return to the other pool. By far my favorite experience at this resort was getting to meet and spend time with Daniel and Sandra. These two were members of the entertainment staff that we come to fall in love with! We looked for them daily. Daniel was so sweet and included us in everything. Sandra was nothing short of adorable as she helped us enjoy things around the resort. These two made this trip so much better for us. J

For me the main purpose of vacation is rest. My room had a damp, musty smell that kept me up most of the night. I could not wait to return home. Not to mention mold/mildew aggravates those with allergies. I woke up the first morning with a sore throat and headache. The worst part of it is when you inform the desk they respond by saying they will send someone to refresh the room. Refreshing is not the solution. Advice to hotel perhaps you should give everyone a respirator at check in for nose and mouth protection against poor indoor air quality. Or provide scented candles, dehumidifiers or aromatherapy misters (like the one in the lobby) to guests. If you research online this is not the first mention of mildew however hotel management ignores it. Although those offerings are not solutions to the bigger more dangerous exposure to mold spores. I wonder if hotels in Cancun are inspected similar to the ones in the states. This room air quality is unacceptable and to think I was a VIP member. The room felt like an old basement. Second the ocean water is gray due to algae overgrowth. The hotel cannot do anything about this however they blame the smell inside the rooms on the ocean. Actually being outdoors is more refreshing and relieving than the nauseating, damp, musty, mildewy rooms. Third, the food is not good. It’s either salty or undercooked. If you’re a vegan or vegetarian you will have difficulty finding a good meal. They do offer cold pressed juices in the morning at breakfast. The room does offer an iPad to offer and arrange guest services however I would like to recommend a translator app for staff and guests for better communication. I was most turned off by: -I walked up on a bartender drinking juice and thought ok he’s drinking his personal drink. Wrong!!!! He stored it in the same refrigerator where he’d pull from to make bar drinks. After seeing that I only only canned drinks - beer or soda. Yuck. Attention this is not your house, sir. -The food was non memorable even the Mexican food which you’d expect to be delicious because we are in Mexico This will be my last Cancun trip although this was my fifth visit over the years. I’ve seen the island decline which is sad. Very disappointed in Breathless - first and last time at Breathless. It just seems hotel management doesn’t care about properly maintaining the property and protecting the health of guests, I guess they figure guests will be too intoxicated to notice.
