Constant miscommunication/resort credits aren't worth it

Because of family timing, we chose our trip for 12/27-1/2. That means it was very expensive! For the four of us (2 rooms) it was $12k. After a long day of travel from California, we are asked to sign up for a time share presentation. The concierge tells us one dress code for the restaurant only to wait 90 minutes for a table and be told that the dress code is different and my husband had to change AGAIN. We waited 90 minutes because they told us to take the pager to the sky bar and wait... the pager signal doesn't reach to the sky bar. The hotel credits have a max at the spa and even after the expense of our trip, the credit allowed for only one treatment per room. Many of the treatments aren't covered by the credit. We go to book excursions and are quickly told how awful they are if you use the credits (and they would have been cheesy) so now we pay extra for a real zip line experience (which was great!). We take the tin boat on a 45 ride to Isla Mujeres. Could have taken a wonderful 20 minute ride for $12 per person (which we did on the way back). Beach was roped off at night. No one told us that those are to keep others out and we are supposed to climb over the barriers to walk on the beach. The sculpture over the pool completely blocks the ocean view on the first floor (which is an extra charge). The lounge chairs are hard to get because they allow the other sister resorts to come to their beach (best beach!!!!!). I could go on and on... what I WILL say is that when they received our review, they worked to make it better. They moved our room (48 hours before we were leaving) and gave us a jet ski rental for free. The manager was very nice and cared but that was so much money for such a disappointment.

We had such a good time in January of 2019 we decided to return this past December(2019). Sadly this time was not quite as relaxing and enjoyable as the first time. It had nothing to do with the staff, food or overall condition of the resort. As a matter of fact the people generally go above and beyond in all they do. We reconnected with some of the staff from our last visit and that was great, and had some interaction with some new staff members also. Our issue was the hotel accepts classes of high school graduates from Paraguay the first two weeks of December. Yes it is a family resort and at 18 these people are considered adults. We understand the hotel needs to fill their rooms, it was just not the most pleasant experience, when you are going to try to relax, and enjoy the hotel and all it has to offer. We will not be returning to this hotel the first two weeks of December. That being said Karol and Luz in customer service did the best they could to address our concerns. We also had our pictures taken by Dreamworks in the resort and I have to say Kayla did a wonderful job with our pics. Any other time we would highly recommend the hotel.

This is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed in. The service and attention to detail are second to none. Everywhere you look it's a beautiful view and in perfect place on the hotel zone strip. Would go back in a heartbeat

Me and my husband went for our honeymoon to the Beach Palace, although it was hard communicating with them online, the hospitality in general at the hotel was great. Juan Carlos, Daniel and Luz from customer relations were really helpful. We want to especially thank our bartenders - Fernando and Roger - the best bartenders throughout our stay!! The only downside was that there were many kids, shouting and roaming around at odd hours of the night as well.

Don’t be fooled by the $1500 in room credits because it’s next to impossible to get rid of them with all the ridiculous restrictions. We went to a meeting to hear about the time share which is basically just paying to be on the top of the caste system of the Beach Palace. When we asked to have time to think about the sales pitch they basically held us hostage and kept sending in different people to try to persuade us into buying. The restaurants do not take reservations ( unless you are buying the so called time share). We are a family of 6 and asked for adjoining rooms which apparently you can only get if you are a so called member. Unless you want to eat dinner at exactly 6PM you have to wait at least 2 hours for a table. The younger staff members act like they are doing you a favour by basically doing their job constantly asking for your room number to report you if you look at them the wrong way. Every single thing at this resort was a challenge. I would never go back to this resort!
