Disappointed stay at the Divi.

We normally rent Airbnb but had to use a travel credit so decided on the Divi. Very disappointed in this resort and it’s not somewhere I would ever come back. Unclean floors, hot water did jot work, wife got food poisoning and needed the ER. Restaurant food was decent. The lock on the front door was broken. The room smelled like extreme mold. The service and help were all very kind. Some of the bar staff by the pizza in the lobby felt like he didn’t want to be there. All in all, I would not return.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! I traveled here with friends in mid-November and between all of our experiences with all-inclusive resorts this one was hands down the worst and here is why: 1. Check In - Our group booked our trip through Expedia back in May 2024 for our trip in November 2024. Months and weeks leading up to November we were receiving confirmation e-mails from Expedia confirming the trip. Upon arrival at Divi the receptionist, Kimberly, informed us that according to their records our reservation was for August and we "no showed". Obviously confused, we showed Kimberly all of our confirmation e-mails and explained that there must have been a mistake on the resorts end. Kimberly was extremely rude and dismissive of the whole situation and said that it was our fault and that WE did something wrong and that we needed to contact Expedia since the reservation services office at the resort was closed for the day. The check in process ended with us having to spend $1200 on a room for the night that was to be refunded after the reservation office was able to speak with Expedia the next day to resolve the issue. They promised the refund would be issued after 5 business days, it was not issued for more than 14 business days only after multiple phone calls back and forth with the resort demanding the money back. Later we read online that this has happened to other people staying at this resort. 2. The Rooms - The original room booked for our stay was an ocean view room. Since the resort was essentially not expecting us, the only room available was a garden view room. This to us was not that big of a deal, but annoying given the circumstances. I will say at first glance the room was beautiful and newly renovated, but we quickly realized that the building we were staying in was under major construction. The loudest construction you've ever heard in your life started promptly at 7:30am every single day and if that didn't wake you up you were awoken to the construction or room service people screaming in the halls or knocking on your door wanting to clean your room. On our last day, I will admit, I lost my cool a little bit and asked the cleaning ladies to stop screaming in the hall at 8am and they responded with "Aren't you checking out today? Shouldn't you be getting ready to leave?". The only other major annoyance with the room was that our phone didn't work the entire stay so anything we needed we had to go to the front desk to ask for it. We asked them to fix our phone on our first day there and they didn't come to look at it until check out day. 3. The Service - Collectively the most miserable staff I've ever experienced (I live in the NYC area so, thats saying a lot). Asking for anything made you feel like you were inconveniencing them to the max. Only had one bartender that was friendly the whole trip. No beach or pool servers. All in all, we made the most of our time in Aruba, but honestly I don't think any of us will be returning. I know many people go there yearly and love this resort, but we cannot say the same and wanted to share our experience.
