Pretty Good, Not Outstanding
K C (Tucson, Arizona) on Jan 18, 2025
Pretty good, but definitely not top-shelf luxury. We booked VIP junior suite ocean-view and received one of the few (maybe 6?) rooms without a balcony. I thought about going back to the front desk but we knew that we would not be in the room much, so we accepted it. Other than that, the room was fine. Very quiet on the 6th floor. We used the VIP lounge daily. Good food and excellent drinks. Jorge was a top-notch bartender. Only two types of beer in the VIP lounge (XX and Tacate L), but there is an excellent selection of beer poolside/beach. XX, Tacate, Tacate L, Coors L, Heineken, Heiny 0.0, Sol, Amstel Ultra, Indio, and I think one or two others. No Modelo products however. Food was OK. Certainly nothing to rave about but it was fine. The house white wine was pretty bad. Service is the high point; excellent everywhere. Housekeeping, front desk, wait staff, bartenders. Animation team is great. Clientele were mostly families with pre-school kids. This time of year, no teens. The main pool had a lot of toddlers and pre-schoolers because the kids pool had every loungers taken/filled every day. Great section of beach, not many vendors either. Over-all good trip. I would consider returning/
Perfect Family Resort in Cancun
Amanda R (Nanaimo, Canada) on Jan 18, 2025
Having visited this property in October of 2024, as well many many years ago, I was confident this was the right property for our family and 3 other's Christmas vacation. Rooms: Large and spacious - all junior suite rooms, view varies depending on what you pay for. As well the Preferred Club do get the best views. In Preferred Club there are updated amenities in the rooms such as slippers, bath robes, toiletry kits, snacks etc. Rooms were spotlessly clean. Pools: 2 pool areas - they are not overly large, but you have to remember you are in Cancun where the properties have a small footprint and hopefully you come to swim in the beautiful ocean. The main pool area is as expected with the activities team hard at work keeping guests engaged through out the day. The second pool area is over by the kids Pirate Ship water park area. We were there at high season and didn't find a problem getting 2 chairs together at any time. Where we going to get 12 together, no but we also didn't need 12. If in doubt, rent a cabana! Dining: The Italian seemed to be the most popular - Ventanas......it was actually our least favorite restaurant but that's the beauty of everyone having their own tastes and opinions. We absolutely loved the Mexican restaurant. Definitely order the Tortilla Soup and the Red Shrimp for an appy! Asian Fusion was great as well - very fresh - some of our group would start with sushi appetizers here and then head to another restaurant. Sunset Grill - seems a little quieter here - had your typical steak, baked potato etc. No complaints. Buffets - these were always busy during the meal times as to be expected. Something for everyone with your egg stations etc. Coffee Shop - Delicious sandwiches, sweets, coffees, lates and more Cravings - Literally anything made of sugar could be found here. The gentleman (I can't remember his name but he was here just about daily was so kind and pleasant). Staff: This property has some very hard working staff. We had a bit of a misunderstanding about our bill, however the front desk manager was very patient and helpful. The activity team staff was amazing - always amazing - Fernando, Estrella and so many more! The bar staff, cabana staff, pool waiters, restaurant, coffee shop - you name it - the staff all were warm and welcoming. Beach: Typical with Cancun - there were red flags, however on the left hand side of the resort (if you were facing the ocean) there was a yellow flag area with a sandbar that most people were enjoying. Wave strength and size varied with the weather but we were swimming every day! Let's not forget the lifeguards - they were constantly scanning the beach and ocean to keep everyone safe! The Teen Club: This was a hit with our teens in our group (and even some parents got in on some competitive games of ping pong). Open from I believe 2pm - 10pm it was a great spot for the kids to have some downtime. I would recommend this property for families with children say 15 and under. It's definitely geared towards families! As a travel agent of 26 years, I would return here again with my family in a heartbeat - we are already thinking about next Christmas!
