Showing it's age but overall amazing.

This is the oldest Royalton property and it shows. However they are working to upgrade things. The Vibe Team especially the fabulous David, Tony and Peter help keep the party going with foam parties, crazy games, crafts and a lot of volleyball. Jorge and Ernesto from the Royalton Fit team were amazing aquafit, bootcamp, TRX and HIIT instructors so you don't feel like an absolute lazy bum on vaycay. The gym here in general is phenomenal but not as CrossFit friendly as they make it sound in their description. There is a rig but it is not suitable for gymnastics as it is not bolted to the ground or anything. Mornings are the busiest time at the gym. Our amazing Diamond Club buttler Jesus Tores made sure we had dinner reservations every night and was available via WhatsApp to answer questions and help you out. Being that we book Diamond Club we got flagged and offered spa treatments to sit through a two hour sales presentation for their Prime Club. We said no and still got the perks. For two hours of your time they will pretty much offer anything so go for the Bali beds for the week as chairs are hard to come by at this resort especially if you like sleeping in. We never had a bad meal. Agave and Zen Teppanyaki were our faves. The buffet is large and has something for everyone including those with food allergies and gluten intolerances. Most everything is labelled with ingredients and restaurants ask about allergies when you check in which I appreciated. Our Buttler also gave me a gluten allergy card I could show it to the servers and restaurant workers however I didn't use it as it didn't included my dairy allergy and didn't want to confuse people. Learn the Spanish words for your allergies or in the very least have them in Spanish on your phone to show them. Our Buttler did this for me and it was helpful. We were there for new years eve and the party was awesome and there were fireworks at midnight. They need to clean their stairways more as we nicknamed the two pop cans, Bert & Ernie, that were in our stairway the entire time we were there.
Make the most of it

Loved our stay, if you get a good deal then snap it up. Staff are amazing. Jorge and Alfredo at the Pisces bar were incredible. Made us feel so welcome. Mexican restaurant and steak house were fun. Emanuel for breakfast and lunch at the hideaway restaurant was fantastic. Booked transfers and shows with nexus tours so professional. Thanks you Grant and Meg
3rd Stay and just as great as previous stays... booked to return already...

This was our 3rd stay at the Hideaway and it was just as fun as the first two stays. Transfer bus ride was only 45 mins and check-in was quick. We stayed in Room 1227 (Pool view) 1 = Building One, 2 = 2nd Floor, 27 = Room #27 Our room was very spacious and always kept clean. We spent most our days around the Hideaway Pool with the odd beach bar crawl, the DC beach bar was a favourite because the barman (Raul) made the best cocktails using the best ingredients. Alfredo was the 'go-to' guy for sunbeds and towels etc... a very friendly all round super nice guy. We had 2 butlers, Sarah & Ulises who checked on us daily to make sure everything was ok, they were both very kind and helpful. The day time entertainment ranged from hamster-ball races across the pool to pink foam pool parties. The bar staff were all excellent, our faves in order are: Raul (DC Beach Bar), Saul (HW Beach Bar), Manue (Main Lobby Bar), Alfredo (DC Pool bar) and all the barstaff plus pool waiters which made sure everyone had a drink 10/10 We used the main buffett at midday and Enrique in the DC seating area always made us very welcome and gave top level service 10/10 As our stay was for 14 nights, we were able to try all the restaurants, they are all amazing so it is difficult to pick a fav' but probably ZEN with either Teppanyaki or menu both 10/10 The beach was very nice for a long walk in the mornings, not busy and very few if any sellers. Evening entertainment was great with a range of shows however, our fav' was the circus act in the Hideaway by far 10/10 A special thank you to Daniela Flores who really went to extra mile to make sure we had a fantasic stay. We have booked to return in 2026 and hope to see all the lovely staff again, who are a real credit to the hotel.
Hideaway at Royalton - One Stay is Enough

This resort is average at best. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the resort overall is well maintained. Our room faced a shallow canal which was quieter than the rooms facing the ocean and pool but the smell from the canal was unpleasant with the door open or sitting on the balcony. The restaurant, bar and cleaning staff are pleasant. There are several restaurants to chose from, most were average, the Mexican and Caribbean were better. The buffet food that should have been hot was warm at best, the quality of the food overall was poor and the buffet is closed at times during the day. On the plus side, the resort is a short drive from the airport and the beach is beautiful for walking and swimming with lots of sand and no rocks. The Wi-Fi is excellent throughout the resort. Three things that will prevent me from returning to this resort are the persistent upselling by the staff, the constant loud music at the pool and the lack of seating on the beach and at the pool. Half of the seating at the pool and a quarter of the seating at the beach is by reservation only for pricey USD per day. There is not enough seating unless you pay for it. At check-in we were pressured to attend a time share type presentation and/or upgrade to Diamond status which ate up the first hour and a half of our stay. I booked a half hour massage, which was excellent, however, the therapist tried to upsell additional services both before and after the massage and a third of the equipment in the hydrotherapy room at the spa was not working. There are other resorts in Mexico I've been to that are much more relaxing, provide good eats and plenty of free, all inclusive, seating.
Are you kidding us??!!!

First of all, we would like to thank the Chef Edouardo and the food manager Diana for making our stay so much more bearable, they were truly wonderful and very helpful. As for the club, we were not impressed. Yes it's a very nice club, architecturally speaking, but as far as the service and convenience goes, not at all. Let's start with the butler service that we had for the higher priced package, the "diamond class". We were introduced to about 5 people who were supposed to take care of us. Basically it was a lot of hype and talk and very little action! It took almost our entire trip to obtain a pod coffee maker in our room that we were supposed to have from the start! If you want to get a latte coffee, well good luck to you because there is only ONE PLACE ON THE ENTIRE PREMISES that actually makes it and that's in the ONLY COFFEE SHOP where you have to stand IN LINE to get your morning latte!!!! Are you kidding me??!!!! Then there's the smell from the adjacent MANGROVE!!!! It is horrible!! The main dining area is imbued with that horrible smell all the time and makes dining there revolting; And if your room happens to face that side, well you're getting that smell of foul eggs mixed with feces, into your room!!! We basically avoided dining inside and opted to sit by the terrace section where we had some respite from the smell. We have to state that we stayed at many BETTER CLUBS than this one for literally HALF THE PRICE OF WHAT WE PAID AT THE ROYALTON!!
