Unsafe Rooms, Broken Promises, and Deceptive Management at Sandos Resorts

I’ve stayed at many resorts, including this resort 4 previous times, but this experience at Sandos Resorts was an absolute disaster. This is a warning to anyone considering a visit. **The Issues:** Here are *some* of the issues and safety concerns. 1. I paid for an upgraded room with ocean view. Upon check-in, the reception tried to give me a street side room with a *sliver* of a view. It took 20 minutes of me advocating to get what I paid for. 2. Upon room arrival, my room had broken lamps, non-functioning coffee maker, sliding glass doors misaligned (difficult to open, close, secure room). I had to place several calls over 2-3 hours to have these issues addressed. Not all of them were fixed. They tried to offer another room that would have been a complete downgrade — second floor room above the night club and overlooking the dumpsters. Realizing what a disaster this trip would be, I tried to be understanding, gracious, and move on with my vacation with broken and unmaintained facilities. 2. The **balcony railing was loose**, posing a major safety hazard. Issue not fixed. Broken lamps and coffee maker, these were the only items addressed and fixed. 3. The **air conditioning stopped working**, leaving the room uncomfortable and unbearable. Issue was fixed after 3 hours. The repairmen left my room a mess with debris all over the floor and dirtied all of the towels. 4. The worst: my room **flooded**, and I slipped and fell, injuring myself. I tried calling the reception for help and no one answered. Being there was water and electricity/wires, etc., I was afraid to go in the water, therefore, I could not escape my room. I tried using the emergency button on the phone to get someone to the room for assistance, no one ever answered the emergency line. I called room service and they were the ones who finally answered the call for help. **Management’s Deception:** The resort manager assured me I’d be compensated for these incidents with a full spa experience to make up for the stressful first half of the day. However, I later discovered they intentionally deceived me with the offer, and also by pretending he didn’t speak English. I encountered him (Joseph) later in the day to question him about his deceitful practice. Well, he suddenly spoke perfect English. This blatant dishonesty is disheartening, disrespectful, and dangerous. **Why This Matters:** Sandos Resorts has shown they don’t prioritize guest safety or satisfaction. The **loose balcony railing**, **room flooding**, and lack of accountability put their negligence on full display. Travelers deserve honesty and safe accommodations, and this resort delivered neither. **Final Recommendation:** Avoid Sandos Resorts unless you want to gamble with your safety, endure poor service, and be misled by management. #TravelSafe #HotelFail #SandosResorts #mexiconightmare
