We chose Melia Cozumel because it is on the west side of the island and that was supposed to imply no seaweed on the beach. Melia e-mailed us to prepare details for our trip (e.g. occasion, which was our wedding anniversary), knowingly that the beach was covered with seaweed. Worst of all, they had the nerve to offer us a "romanticDinner on the beach", for a cost of course. So, we arrived at the hotel and, surprise, the beach was covered with a 1.5 m barrier of seaweed and the sea water looking sewer brown. I decided to cancel right away risking the penalty. Melia management graciously waived the penalty and we started the search for a new hotel. After 4.5 hours of stress, frustration and $200 in taxi fare, we found accommodation at a 30% more expensive rate, with crystal clear water and no weed. I wrote Melia International to report the experience and request the cab and over price for the new hotel, and their answer was negative. Frustrated again.

Another great stay at Melia our 7th stay there an excellent trip everybody is always so friendly room was always clean and the food was good for breakfast we usually went out for dinner but can always find something to eat at the buffet. We came to Cozumel twice in 2025 and once so far this year just hoping they don’t change to much when they change to ZEL

We booked rooms from The Level and it was totally worth it! The amenities included were amazing! Being able to reserve a Bali Bed daily on the beach was great. The service was excellent, as soon as we came out to the pool, the Bali bed, or any spot; someone came up immediately to ask if we wanted a drink. The staff was extremely nice, thank you to Guadalupe from the buffet staff, Luis and Alejandro in the pool bar were so nice! Oscar was also very friendly and welcoming. The 2 restaurants Mole and Fish House were both so delicious. The Level King room was very spacious and big. Our mini fridge food and drinks were included and would get restocked daily (this is included with the level) l. I celebrated my 40th birthday with my friends here and it was the best time! The beach was beautiful and the water was so clear. We were lucky we only dealt with the seaweed 1 day and it was cleared out by the next day! Thank you to the whole staff at Melia! We loved Melia Cozumel! We're happy We upgraded to Level. Definitely worth the extra $ especially for Oscar, or concierge and the level beach and the concierge's Diego and Alejandro! We were really taken care of. This is a smaller resort which we prefer however they have a huge beach and they do a great job of taking care of it. Fortunately the week we were there ( end of April) there was very little sargassum on the first day, after that the water cleared up beautifully. We did snorkel at the resort next door a couple of times. The first time lots of fish, the second time very cloudy and couldn't see anything. The food at the buffet is traditional AI fare. Unless you're really picky you shouldn't have a problem finding something you'd like. We prefer dinner over breakfast. Breakfast was just okay. We ate lunch at food truck snack bar very convenient. The Fish house was very good, We had dinner there twice and breakfast once. We prefer to go to dinner when we're ready without reservations. Mole was good too It's a beautiful view of the beach. If we had to complain about something, the hours ice cream/coffee cafe is available. Only open until 5 would be nice if they're open in the evening. We would definitely stay at Melia Cozumel again!

The staff was very friendly and helpful which made the experience very relaxing and fun. The resort offers multiple pools, beach areas, bars, restaurants, and activities which gives plenty of options to enjoy your own experience. Definitely book one of of the massage packages at the SPA! We had a very relaxing and stress free vacation.
