Nice Place To Stay, Even During Beryl

bencZ23UT on Jul 06, 2024

Wonderful place to stay! Despite hurricane Beryl, which the hotel handeled flawlessly, the hotel and staff made us feel welcomed the minute we arrived. Jorge was especially very pleasant at meal times. The rooms could use a little updating, but it was comfortable. We didn't get a chance to try the restaurants (other than buffet) as our reservations were cancelled as they had to prepare for Beryl. Overall, we would love to return for another visit.

Fun in the sun

Kelly S on Jul 04, 2024

We’ve been to Cozumel several times. This was our first time at the Melia and we loved it! The resort is very close to the airport, about 15 minutes, which we really appreciated after a long day of traveling. We upgraded to the Level which I highly recommend. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed with great hospitality. We checked-in with our concierge, Alfonso, in the Level lounge and he did a great job of telling us all about the resort and its amenities we could take advantage of. We saw him daily and he was always making sure we had everything we needed for our stay. Santiago was also a great concierge and helped us book a wonderful snorkeling excursion to El Cielo which I highly recommend! Have cash on hand to pay the deposit, we weren’t expecting that. The Melia is a small resort but didn’t feel at all crowded, lots of families as well as couples. We had two adjoining rooms for my husband and I and our two adult kids. The rooms were very nice, spacious and comfortable. Our room had a king sized bed and the kids had two queens. Both had a nice sized sitting area. Our 7th floor rooms had a gorgeous ocean view with lots of space to sit and relax on our balconies. The sun rises and sets were phenomenal! The adult pool was great with a swim up bar. The daily bartenders were amazing and always had a friendly, fun attitude. We never waited long for our drinks. With the Level upgrade, we had a private beach area with lounge chairs and cabanas that you can reserve through your concierge. Since we had two rooms, we got two days in a cabana. It was amazing. You also have beach bar and snack service. Gerardo and Diego were our beach concierges and I can’t say enough about their amazing hospitality!! The beach at the resort was very nice and a large area. Our family loves to snorkel and there wasn’t much to see right in front of the resort. Gerardo told us about a wonderful spot to snorkel, just down the beach a bit on the other side of the pier, that was absolutely gorgeous! The water was crystal clear and there were so many colorful fish and other sea creatures to see. The food was delicious! We never had a bad meal, even at the buffet. There was a different menu every day with lots of variety. Breakfast was amazing and the service was top notch. Jesus, Nimesio and Daniel were especially great! Nimesio was so nice and energetic in the mornings. Always a pleasure to be taken care of by him. Jesus was very friendly and patient as I practiced my very small vocabulary of Spanish. Daniel suggested a wonderfully refreshing lunch time beverage as we came in from the sun. Ana was our very favorite evening meal server! She was so kind and took great care of us. The first night she brought us the tastiest cappuccinos which we enjoyed our whole visit. We made reservations for a dinner at The Fish House and had a wonderful meal there too. It was a lovely space and the food was fantastic. If you’re looking for a fun, relaxing, friendly resort, the Melia is for you! I definitely recommend it!

Couples get away in. Ozumel

Tim W (Culleoka, Tennessee) on Jul 03, 2024

My wife and I had great visit at the Melia Cozumel. The food was great and we met many friends at the pool. Unfortunately…we left early due to the hurricane . Meliá was very good about keeping us safe and offered four nights of credit for future visits. I was very pleased. Our Conceirge Alfonso did a great job with reservations and special requests.

Beautiful beach view, poor room decor.

Lyonna W on Jul 03, 2024

I wanted to love this resort. The customer service was good and mother nature, meaning the beach and the tropical trees were beautiful to wake up to but there were too many opportunities that required immediate attention onsite. The game room has raggedy gaming tables, the mattress in the room were old and worn, felt like something from a 1995 just plain uncomfortable. We kept feeling sick from the "bottled water". After being there five days, I was ready to leave by day two.
