Stellar Customer Service

Linda M on Mar 02, 2026

Everyone was so helpful, friendly and kind -- the person who took our reservation, the person who checked us in, the cleaning lady, the breakfast staff, etc. We needed a labor-intensive accommodation for someone in our party with special needs, and a manager named David and his maintenance team made it happen. Thank you!!! We chose this central Waikiki hotel because it has the fewest noise complaints. I'm relieved that we were able to enjoy uninterrupted sleep for all six nights of our visit. The bedding was so clean and comfortable. The room and bathroom were a bit small, but they were clean and had everything we needed. Through one window we could see Diamond Head and the ocean, and from another window we had a pleasant view of a canal and mountains. At the breakfast buffet, they had plenty for us vegans: soy milk, oatmeal, walnuts, cranberries, bananas, oranges, hot white rice, fresh (not frozen) mixed vegetables and "super greens" salad. I can't wait to return! We will definitely be staying here again and recommend Holiday Inn Express Waikiki to others.

Good for Waikiki

Questseek12 (Orofino, Idaho) on Feb 15, 2026

For the area it's good, not to close to the very busy Waikiki beach, but close enough. It is a forty-five minute walk, but a nice walk through the shops and beautiful area. Make sure to get a beach view and if you are renting a car know it is fifty dollars a night. Breakfast was fine, pretty much like most, but make sure to be there when opened. There information desk was very helpful, so make sure to stop there.

Great views

N2980USjonw (Dearborn, Michigan) on Feb 11, 2026

We stayed in a corner suite and loved most aspects of the stay. The elevators to the upper floors can take a long time. We also found the free breakfast to start too late when doing tours of the island. When we did have breakfast, it was just fine for a free meal. The housekeeping is great and all the staff were friendly. Location is close to most needed things. Definitely upgrade to an ocean view suite.

Mid

I stayed in this Holiday Inn because other options weren’t available. The good: 1) If you book an ocean view room and get one of the better rooms, I think this is one of the only things about this hotel that could be described as value for money. It’s quite a remarkable view for the price compared to other hotels in Waikiki. 2) One reception staff member took charge of my pretty poor check-in experience with another staff member, and kind of saved the moment. She was really great at her job. The not very good: 1) All of Waikiki is expensive, and this hotel is no exception, but the rooms are very small for the price. 2) No hangers in the “closet”, which is more of an open niche in the wall with a metal bar. No closet door. 3) The worst breakfast that I have had at any IHG brand hotel. Very few options to choose from, no protein other than bacon and eggs, if you are into that, and the eating environment is more like a crowded canteen. 4) Check in was initially quite bad. This was in part due to the fact that the hotel was at full capacity, so there was little chance for checking in before 3:00pm. Having said that, the attitude during my first reception desk encounter was dismissive and robotic. Another reception staff member had to step in to do the totally normal and basic customer service work for her colleague who couldn’t be bothered to listen or do the bare minimum. 5) Concierge and information staff are pleasant, but some of the information that I received was inaccurate and/or incomplete. I love the IHG brand, and normally rate 5 stars with the occasional 4 stars, but I would not go back to this property.

LOUD, just LOUD

Buffalochick1 (Orchard Park, New York) on Jan 24, 2026

The ac units r right at your head level and are LOUD. Didnt sleep for all 4 nights more than a few hours. Got charged for parking and NEVER HAD A CAR! Very very small rooms. Elevators were slow to the 39th floor. As the other reviews state, breakfast was terrible, just go elsewhere but very $. Would not return here. Did I mention it was LOUD???
