I stayed in this Holiday Inn because other options weren’t available. The good: 1) If you book an ocean view room and get one of the better rooms, I think this is one of the only things about this hotel that could be described as value for money. It’s quite a remarkable view for the price compared to other hotels in Waikiki. 2) One reception staff member took charge of my pretty poor check-in experience with another staff member, and kind of saved the moment. She was really great at her job. The not very good: 1) All of Waikiki is expensive, and this hotel is no exception, but the rooms are very small for the price. 2) No hangers in the “closet”, which is more of an open niche in the wall with a metal bar. No closet door. 3) The worst breakfast that I have had at any IHG brand hotel. Very few options to choose from, no protein other than bacon and eggs, if you are into that, and the eating environment is more like a crowded canteen. 4) Check in was initially quite bad. This was in part due to the fact that the hotel was at full capacity, so there was little chance for checking in before 3:00pm. Having said that, the attitude during my first reception desk encounter was dismissive and robotic. Another reception staff member had to step in to do the totally normal and basic customer service work for her colleague who couldn’t be bothered to listen or do the bare minimum. 5) Concierge and information staff are pleasant, but some of the information that I received was inaccurate and/or incomplete. I love the IHG brand, and normally rate 5 stars with the occasional 4 stars, but I would not go back to this property.

The ac units r right at your head level and are LOUD. Didnt sleep for all 4 nights more than a few hours. Got charged for parking and NEVER HAD A CAR! Very very small rooms. Elevators were slow to the 39th floor. As the other reviews state, breakfast was terrible, just go elsewhere but very $. Would not return here. Did I mention it was LOUD???
Great value for the location

Great location and value. Close to foodtrucks and short walk to Waikiki beaches. Pool & sauna on 5th floor with pee-wee golf, shuffle board. Typical HIX full breakfast in large restaurant.
Honeymoon Stay

My wife and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Waikiki for our honeymoon. The service and cleanliness of the property are top tier. As an IHG member, I always try to stay at one of their properties and this stay was no exception. The breakfast is amazing and offers a wide variety of choices and specials that you can’t go wrong with. Many hotels can often mess breakfast up, but this property nails it which is always an appreciated way to start your day in Waikiki before plying tourist. The hotel’s concierge, Brady, was especially a gem of this property. My wife and I had looked into booking an island tour of Oahu and Brady took the time and made the effort to really find out what we were looking to do, before selecting a company that met our needs. Thus far, this island tour with The Pineapple Experience tour company has been the highlight of our stay. Shout out to Brady and the entire staff for making our honeymoon extra special with their service and efforts!
Upgrade to a suite - thank me later!

Our first (hopefully of many more) stay in Walkiki. The open-air lobby is amazing. Standard rooms were cramped. They are so small, you can’t change your mind! However, the staff was so very accommodating, especially Ms. Mary, Mr. Roger and Mr. Sal. The second room was a corner suite and absolutely amazing. Even gave us early check-in, too! Gave my wife a birthday gift bag, filled with pineapple gummy treats. Breakfast was good, but tons of gnats. Pool located on roof area, and gets very chilly at night. Entire outdoor area is very cool. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay. The open concept is awesome.
