The hotel was absolutely wonderful and the staff was FANTASTIC! Mary helped us when we were checking in and was just so nice and Kali helped us when we got late check out and she was super sweet and helpful! Breakfast was great every morning, really perfect to start the day. The hotel has a very nice feel to it and it's a short walk to the beach depending on where you want to set up and close walking distance to pretty much everything shops, food, the food trucks!! so awesome! Room was clean and it was our home away from home for the week, anytime we needed new clean towels it wasn't a problem. It was my first time in Hawaii, I love it so much can't wait to come back! The atmosphere was really nice at the hotel, and everyone was really kind. I would highly recommend it!

Overall we had a great stay here. The front desk staff was exceptionally friendly and worked diligently to handle the line and to honor our status benefits. The breakfast was excellent with some fun options that you don't find in the continental US. And wow... A lot of nice seating for breakfast. Our room was clean and comfortable. Yes, like many reviews, they are a bit cozy. I wouldn't recommend it if you have a lot of luggage and want to spread out; but the room worked just fine for us. We were on the 44th floor and the view, even of the city and mountain was spectacular (including the sunrise). My in-laws were in an ocean view on the 39th floor and that was great as well of course. There sometimes was a wait for an elevator, but not more than any building of this size. The elevator wait time was SIGNIFICANTLY better than Hilton in Niagara Falls. The pool was fun, not large, but great for the kids to play in, and a few rounds of minigolf. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will stay here again in the future.

Holiday Inn Express Waikiki offers a convenient location just a half-mile walk from the beach near the Outrigger Reef and military resort Hale Koa, making it an easy home base for groups visiting Honolulu. Daily hot breakfast is included and served in a large dining area with 200+ seats, ideal for groups or families. The space can also be reserved for meetings, evening gatherings, or catered events, adding value for programs needing onsite function space. The 5th-floor pool deck is a standout feature—spacious, versatile, and well-suited for group meetups. Additional amenities include outdoor games such as shuffleboard, mini golf, and chess, offering fun options for downtime. Overall, the Holiday Inn Express Waikiki delivers strong group-friendly features, flexible spaces, and a walkable location near Waikiki’s best beaches.

This is what I expect from holiday inn express, value good and rooms fine. Service always good at Honolulu and the location was good because it was parallel to Kuhio Beach, near the beach.

The rooms are small, the walls are paper-thin, and the doors slam loudly. This is an exceptionally noisy hotel, with children seemingly running up and down the corridors, shouting and repeatedly slamming doors with little regard for other guests. A good night’s sleep is difficult to come by. While the location is undoubtedly convenient, the hotel is, in my view, significantly overpriced for the standard it offers. The overall experience felt more in line with a budget hotel than the premium rates being charged. The hotel also seems determined to maximise revenue at every opportunity. In most IHG hotels around the world, guests who choose to forgo housekeeping receive 500 IHG One Rewards points as part of the brand’s environmental initiative. Here, the opposite applies: if you forget to opt out of housekeeping, you’re automatically charged a $50 cleaning fee. That feels less like encouraging sustainability and more like another way to generate revenue. On top of that, there’s a mandatory $35 per night amenity fee, which comes as yet another unwelcome surprise. If you’re looking for a drink or a light meal, you’re better off crossing the street to the Hilton, where you’ll find a much better atmosphere, good cocktails and enjoyable light bites. Perhaps most disappointing of all was the lack of genuine hospitality. At no point during my stay—or even at check-out—did anyone ask how my stay had been or whether everything had met my expectations. It’s the sort of hotel you stay at once… and then never again.
