Great time

The Westin Maui Resort & Spa on beautiful Ka’anapali beach was amazing. We went here to celebrate my wife’s birthday and we stayed in the Hokupa’a Tower, which was great. Caroline at the Front Desk was very helpful. Caroline went above and beyond to make sure that our check-in experience went very smoothly. We were given wristbands that gave us access to our room and that was much more convenient than carrying around the normal key cards. The room was great, we had a view of the beach and the pools. We could hear the ocean waves as we fell asleep. The beach is beautiful and there are a number of different pools to enjoy. Right next door is Whaler’s Village which has very nice shopping and a lot of very good restaurants that are right on the water – be sure to try the Hula Pie! We definitely recommend the Hale Ho'omalu pool cabana, it is very much worth the extra expense. The Westin’s Luau was also very fun. As Platinum Members, we highly recommend this resort that has something for everyone. The staff and service were exceptional. We can't wait to return.
Outstanding Stay
LK229 (Washington DC, District of Columbia) on Oct 01, 2024
We booked a five night stay using points and suite night awards. We received an amazing upgrade to the executive suite on the top floor in the same tower (Kukahi) we booked in. The room was spacious with a large dining area, living area, bedroom, two bathrooms and three balconies. Since we travelled in low season this made the upgrade more likely. The balconies overlooked the pools and had an ocean view which was great for sunset. It’s pretty loud on the balconies in the morning and evening because the birds in the trees and the water features from below echo upwards, so we didn’t spend that much time on them but the views were excellent. The pre-arrival coordinator messaged us before we arrived and got the details for any additional guests in the room, our arrival time and if we were celebrating anything special. At check in you receive a welcome drink coupon to use during your stay at the restaurant near the pool as part of the amenity fee. They noted we were celebrating an anniversary and gave us a coupon for a champagne toast. On the day of our anniversary the pre-arrival coordinator also had a present left in our room with some shortbread cookies and two reusable hot/cold cups which was very thoughtful. As a platinum Bonvoy member you’re given the option at check in of 1,000 points or daily breakfast from the grab and go. We selected breakfast which was a good value. The staff in the grab and go were very friendly - particularly the woman who was at the register. For the two guests in the room you can select one breakfast item each and one beverage each. For beverages you can choose between coffee, tea, certain juices or Pepsi products. For the 1 entree item you can choose either from a hot breakfast item, cold item, or pastry. Hot item options were toast, pancakes, loco moco (burger patty with gravy on rice that should come with an egg from the display) or a breakfast plate (eggs, potatoes and bacon or sausage). If you’d prefer a cold item instead the options included an açaí bowl, smoothies, fruit and yogurt, or a selection of pastries. We enjoyed the chocolate dipped croissant the most. For the hot items the pancakes were the best though the potatoes in the breakfast platter were also tasty. Unfortunately we didn’t enjoy their loco moco because the burger patty was overcooked and the egg wasn’t included but we got a really good Loco Moco at Cafe Jai in Whalers Village. There a number of pools on property with an adults only pool and a family friendly pool with slides. There was limited shade depending on the time of day as there were not as many umbrellas to chairs. But we frequently found shade and moved depending on where the sun was during the day. The hotel only permits the use of their pool floats in the pools and they’re available for a rental fee. The beach is a close walk. Chairs and umbrellas on the beach were also available for a fee but we didn’t make use of this option. The hotel has some good food options available on property and is also a very close walk to Whalers Village which has more restaurants and shops. There’s also a bus/trolley stop at Whalers so we took advantage of that to go to other places nearby. The hotel provides a shuttle on the hour between the Hyatt Regency, Sheraton, Westin and the Ritz Carlton. Since the shuttle doesn’t start till noon we never took advantage of that. There was live music nightly at the outdoor restaurant near the pool which is also a good place to watch the sunset. While this hotel is not a vacation club, the concierges on site offer promotional items to sit through a sales presentation for the Westin Vacation Club for properties nearby. We didn’t sit through the presentation since we had recently been through one - but they gave us a box of chocolates and a dining discount card for going to their desk. The discount card was useful at the restaurants on property for food discounts. On our last day we requested late checkout and the hotel was super accommodating. While we couldn’t stay in our suite because someone else was scheduled to check in that day, they gave us another room to use until the 4pm late checkout. We really appreciated the option since it gave us the ability to hang out at the pool during the day and then shower before the airport. Overall we had an amazing stay and really enjoyed this hotel!
