This was our first visit to Outrigger Kona. At check-in, Octavia went above and beyond to provide us with an unforgettable stay. As it was our first visit to the Big Island, she met our request for an upgrade to an oceanfront room in Manta 1. We had an incredible sunset and manta ray feeding view. (She cautioned us about construction noise below, but we were unfazed by the 9-5 work noise because we were just so very appreciative of the overall view.) We simply loved spending time out on the balcony. At night, we watched the night snorkelers float with the mantas and we were close enough to hear their excited squeals. When I went for night snorkeling, my husband was able to relax on our balcony and keep watch. On our final morning, we awoke to rain showers and a gorgeous rainbow over the water. Food at the resort was pricey, as to be expected on the island, but absolutely delicious. We enjoyed the salads and cheese plate at Piko. Mornings were sweetened by grab and go pastries and coffees by the pool. The pastries were incredible. The retail shops had nice offerings, including local body products, snacks, sauces and honeys. I picked up a manta ray ornament to commemorate our view and my snorkeling experience. (The coffee was just as good as Pika at a lower price, BTW.) We thoroughly enjoyed the entire pool area and appreciated the towels, lounges, and sunscreen dispensers. My teenage son made good use of the water volleyball and waterslide. We also exited the pool gate to the lawn and had a lovely walk through the garden and enjoyed talking with other guests there. (My son, the animal lover, found the daytime resting spots for the resident cats nearby the garden.) Self-parking was at the bottom of the ramp for $30 per night and valet service was $40 per night. We opted to self park and it was still very convenient and a safe walk between the lot and the lobby. For those planning to go on a night snorkeling excursion, all the boats are an easy 5-7 minute walk down the ramp and one left turn away. It's flat and paved, but a little dark due to lighting restrictions so you may want to make sure you bring a flashlight (or use the one on your phone). Overall, I would wholeheartedly recommend Outrigger Kona to couples and families alike and would not hesitate to stay there again in the future!
Amazing hotel!!!!

This hotel was amazing! They had an adult pool that never had people in it so we had the pool to ourselves a lot. The staff is super nice and super helpful! Sharlaine in the voyager 47 club gave us some great recommendations for food for our trip while we are here! The ocean view was amazing!!!!! The sunsets were extremely beautiful here as well. There was nothing blocking the sunsets so that was super nice! This hotel is very relaxed and served all our needs. It was 30mins from most places but that didn’t bother us since we knew things were pretty far away from each thing.
