You should get what you pay for...

hockeemommee (Toronto, Canada) on Jul 04, 2022

So the Flamingo is a great deal for those on a budget. It's in a good location - middle of the strip - it has nice pools with decent DJs, onsite restaurant Carlos n' Charlies' was great with great staff, but keep in mind that it's a very old hotel, actually googled it and it's the oldest one on the strip so my expectations weren't high at all in going here. The rooms had (as I was expecting) dried up discoloured caulking around the sink, shower and windows, peeling wallpaper at door jams and on corners. I was also expecting dated decor and dingy carpeting, what I didn't expect was to pay for a king bed in a non-smoking room, but getting two queen beds in a smoking room instead. When we booked (back in March!) through Air Canada Vacations, the room types are priced based on preferences, our preference and what we paid for was king, non-smoking. We had two rooms one for my husband and I, and one for our son and his girlfriend. Paid for both to be king beds in non-smoking rooms. When we checked in we were told by the very snotty gentleman checking us in, that each room will have two queen beds and be smoking rooms and that there were no other rooms available. We explained that my son has asthma and his girlfriend has issues with her lungs as well which is why we specifically paid for non-smoking rooms. He didn't even stop typing, didn't blink, but told us we could pay extra per person, per night for a non-smoking room (even though we were just told there was no other rooms available?!) - but we had already paid for non-smoking rooms! We were disappointed but the attitude and lack of empathy or customer service was off-putting. Even after showing him our paperwork he just completely dismissed us and sent us on our way. My husband was super annoyed, but we decided to try the rooms and see how they were. Yes it was a bit smokey, but the beds were comfortable and it was bearable. We decided to stay in our assigned rooms and suck it up. Next day comes and we end up with no housekeeping services. We wait all day and nothing, we called late to see why and was told there was a note on our room to opt us out of cleaning, both our room and our son's room. We did no such thing. It was late in the day so we just asked for towels which we got. Next day, same thing, no service. We called again and was told someone would be right up. When they came we went down to the Front Desk Manager, Mai Wilson, to discuss the trouble we had when we checked in and now we felt we were being punished with no housekeeping service. Mai was a gem. She was sympathetic, listened objectively and helped us out. Mai was so pleasant to work with and should be given a raise for all the crap she must have to deal with! Anyway, Mai tried helping us out, but for whatever reason the next day we still never got housekeeping. I understand that it's a very large hotel with many different departments and other than our initial experience with the rude check-in, all other staff were pleasant and friendly to deal with, especially Mai. In summary: At the very least all I was expecting was what I paid for, which was a king bed, in a non-smoking room with cleanings but we ended up with none of that, even though our expectations were low, we were still disappointed.

Bodily fluid stain on bed sheet!!!

Raymond M on Jul 04, 2022

Disgusting room!! If you like to come back to your room, pull back the sheets and discover bodily fluid stains on your bed, then this is the hotel for you. We checked into our room, then went to dinner, saw a show and got back to room around midnight…. My wife and I were tired from a long day only to discover this nastiness. When I tried to call from the room phone to guest services, it wouldn’t go through. So I called the hotel operator line and when I selected the option for the front desk, it kept hanging up. So down to the front desk I go to get this resolved only to find a line of 24 people waiting. I’m exhausted, disgusted and now angry that I have to spend over 30 minutes in a line (on my birthday no less) to get a maid to change the sheets. In bed finally at 1:45 AM. Thank you Caesar’s Entertainment group and The Flamingo for having me pay $230 for a disgusting room. Never again will I stay here.
