I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the Preferred Club package and the overall experience during my recent stay at Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica from November 30th to December 6th, 2024. While I had high expectations for this trip, especially given the additional costs incurred, the reality fell far short of the advertised promises. Preferred Club Package For the approximately $350 paid for the Preferred Club package, I experienced minimal benefits, which did not justify the cost. Specifically: Room Difference: There was no discernible upgrade in the room compared to standard accommodations, despite the advertised enhancements. Bar Offerings: The Preferred Club bar was frequently out of various types of alcohol, and the wine offered was the same as that available throughout the resort. Limited Amenities: The only tangible differences were access to breakfast at a specific restaurant and snacks in the Preferred Lounge. These offerings are insufficient to justify the additional expense. Group Dinner Issues My dissatisfaction was compounded by the challenges encountered during a group dinner reservation at the steakhouse. There were 27 of us staying at the resort, and we had prearranged a dinner with an additional $20 per person fee for "a choice of steaks." Upon arrival: - The restaurant staff was completely unaware of this arrangement and instead claimed that the $20 charge was for wine. - This explanation was baffling, as the resort is all-inclusive, and the same wine was served to all guests. - After much confusion, the staff finally agreed to credit the $20 towards any add-ons ordered, which was not what was agreed upon beforehand. Detroit Lions Game Another incident that underscored the lack of coordination and communication was the arrangement to watch the Detroit Lions game in the Rendezvous Lounge. Upon arrival, the staff seemed unaware of the agreement. After some back and forth, we were told the game was set up in the Disco. Unfortunately, the Disco was converted into a dance club at 10 PM, leading to several disruptions: - Other guests came in and began dancing in front of the television intentionally, creating a chaotic environment. - This led to arguments, and with one minute left in the tied game, the staff turned off the television, which was unacceptable, as we were explicitly told the game would be shown in its entirety. Overall Stay Experience The culmination of these issues, along with the $3,500 I paid for my stay, has left me feeling deeply disappointed. It appears that the staff often agreed to arrangements without fully understanding or delivering on them. Additionally, behind the toilet had lots of splatter marks which appeared to be vomit or explosive diarrhea....nasty. To balance my feedback, I would like to mention the positive aspects of my stay: The room service was a convenient and enjoyable option. The food at the Portofino restaurant was excellent. However, these positives do not outweigh the many frustrations and unmet expectations throughout my stay. Conclusion I wanted to provide this detailed feedback in the hope that it can help improve the customer service and overall guest experience at your resort. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to Dreams Las Mareas, as this stay has left me with little confidence in the resort’s ability to deliver on its promises.

Our expectations were exceeded on every level. The resort is absolutely breathtaking. Everything from the wildlife, room, food, room service, entertainment, grounds, pools, beach, etc were perfect! Staff goes to great lengths to make sure the stay is unforgettable. We hope to return with our daughters someday!
