Great time at a wonderful resort
chrisberrytex (Houston, Texas) on Jan 27, 2023
This is a beautiful property!! The views are amazing!! It’s a big property so you may do some walking but they do have carts to help you get around. It’s worth it to upgrade to the “premium club” in my opinion. We ate at both the Asian and the Italian restaurants and were happy with both. The buffets are buffets, the food is ok but never great. The staff at the hotel is great, super helpful and go out or their way to make your stay special. We will be back!!! Love all the wildlife on the property you can see as well!!!
Beautiful Grounds with Some Drawbacks
LeighWile (Grimsby, Canada) on Jan 26, 2023
The grounds and the area is beautiful. The property uses shuttles (shuttle drivers are very friendly) due to the expanse and topography. Some staff really care about customer service whilst others didn't care. We tipped those who were above average. We noticed different wrist bands for those visiting the property. Blue, white and gold. In speaking to others it looks as though blue wrist bands were for those who booked with Expedia, white for other vacation packages, and gold for their premium customers who have access to additional lounges and enhanced menu/meals. Blue/Expedia customers seemed to be put into rooms at the furthest buildings. We originally got building 12 as did other blue banded visitors. Our room was adjoining and we could hear everything from the other couple next to us through the closed adjoining door-- including them opening their safe. We were put into another room in Building 4 with a better view, the toilet separate from the shower, but the fridge didn't work. This was an acceptable compromise. CONS: - room keys de-activate unexpectedly requiring a return to the front desk to have them re-programmed. This is endemic across the property and is a consistent complaint of others. This really sucks when you close the bar and want to go to bed - friends of ours got sick. Others got sick too. The buffet was suspected but could not be confirmed - alcohol seems to be watered down. I got the equivalent of a triple-pour of vodka and soda and there was barely a taste of vodka in it. This happened on a number of occasions with vodka, white rum and tequila - housekeeping provides only two bath towels, a hand towel and from time-to-time a bath mat. We asked for shampoo and conditioner a couple of days in a row (including incentive tips) and didn't get them until our last day - the room safe had no instructions and requires security to attend to reset and demonstrate the operation. It takes a while and a couple of calls to the front desk for security to attend PROS: - helpful front desk staff - food and beverage staff very friendly - lots of wildlife (skunks, raccoons, howler monkeys, parakeets) - beautiful grounds which was close to the public beach - great wet bar - good snack bar - nightly entertainment - clean pools
