A Breath of Fresh Air After a Rough Night Next Door

Global40261756322 on Mar 05, 2026

Sonesta Los Angeles Airport LAX After an absolutely dreadful night at the Residence Inn next door, we paid for a day stay at the Sonesta simply to get some rest before our onward journey — and what a difference. This place reminded us what hotel hospitality is actually supposed to feel like. Sleep & Comfort: The king bed is everything the Residence Inn's was not — plush, generous, and genuinely inviting. The pillows are wonderfully soft down-lite, the kind you actually want to sink into. Even as a day stay, we got more meaningful rest in a few hours here than we did the entire previous night. Bathroom: A really well thought-out shower experience. Excellent water pressure and temperature, and a small but brilliant touch — a built-in footstep so you're not contorting yourself to wash your legs. It sounds minor, but it's exactly the kind of practical detail that shows someone actually thought about the guest experience. In-Room Amenities: Complimentary water in the room. Simple, considerate, and a stark contrast to being charged $8 for the privilege elsewhere. It sets the tone immediately. Food: Don't overlook the pizza from the lobby — it's genuinely delicious. A pleasant surprise and well worth it. Transport: The airport shuttle is convenient and well-timed, making this an ideal choice for a pre-flight or post-flight stay near LAX. Service: Check-in and check-out were both handled with warmth and professionalism. Staff were friendly, engaged, and actually seemed to care about the guest experience. It made all the difference. We only wish we'd booked here from the start. The Sonesta has earned a loyal repeat customer. Highly recommended — especially for anyone travelling through LAX.

Staff are rude.

Annabelle V on Mar 02, 2026

I’m sure this hotel is nice on the inside but the staff is what makes this place unbearable. Staff have no patience or respect for people. Just rude. The mannerisms and language, but unprofessional. The bald man outside especially. He harrassed my family allllll the way down the street because they “own the road” (the empty and non busy road we were on) and could not give us 3 measly minutes to load our luggage into our uber. After saying we understood multiple times, him and some other black lady that work there kept yelling at us from down the street even through we were in front of and on the Hyatt hotels property. And since they took up our time scolding us and the uber driver, our uber cancelled on us because it took too long and she was just frustrated. Just a waste of energy and time.

TITLE: WARNING: FRAUDULENT BUSINESS PRACTICES & TOTAL THEFT

Liza Joy B on Feb 20, 2026

TITLE: WARNING: FRAUDULENT BUSINESS PRACTICES & TOTAL THEFT STAY AWAY FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT. If I could give zero stars, I would. My check-in was on January 13th, and as of today—over a full month later—this business is still holding my $200 security deposit hostage. What started as a simple inquiry has turned into a marathon of professional gaslighting and cowardice. I have lost count of how many hours I have spent on the phone trying to recover MY money. Every single time I call, I am met with the same script of pathetic excuses, followed by being "transferred" to a manager who never picks up. They leave me on hold for an eternity, clearly hoping I’ll just give up, before cowardly hanging up on me once they realize I’m not going away. The level of unprofessionalism here is absolutely staggering. They were lightning-fast to swipe my card and take my money the second I walked through the door, but now that it’s time to honor their own refund policy, they have essentially gone into hiding. This isn't just "bad customer service"—it is dishonest, predatory, and bordering on criminal. It is clear that this business survives by nickel-and-diming guests and hoping they don't notice when their deposits aren't returned. I am now forced to file a formal dispute with my bank, a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and a report to Consumer Affairs. Do yourself a massive favor: Save your money and your sanity. Stay literally anywhere else. This place has zero integrity, zero accountability, and apparently, no intention of returning money that doesn’t belong to them.

Better hotels at LAX...

JaneB872 (Chicago, Illinois) on Feb 05, 2026

Have stayed at this hotel several times in the past 6wks and hotel is for the most part clean and the cafe/restaurant is great (Loved their breakfast butrito). However, I have requested several times to NOT be given a room with an adjoining door to no avail. This recent stay was no exception. Room would NOT cool down and window unit did work for a short time until I woke up to a hot/stuffy room..There was a ac window unit in the hall the 2 days I was there...Not sure for the reason?? Probably broken too??? For the cost, there are better hotels to stay at LAX. Not horrible, but will definitely stay elsewhere.
