Brief, but perfectly good stay

Brett H (London, United Kingdom) on Jan 29, 2023

I only stayed here one-night. I liked the hotel. It is quite dated, however. It's huge ! Good sized-room, Nice staff, really friendly door man. I can not fault it, but my time was brief. None of the restaurants were open, though.

Needs a major renovation

Star V on Jan 23, 2023

This hotel needs a MAJOR renovation. I had chatted with hotel prior to arriving only to be met with confusion and for the hotel manager to accuse me of booking through a 3rd party? I booked directly through with my AAA code. Apparently that’s you booking as a 3rd party person. Didn’t know that until now so just fyi for the future if you do that don’t expect to get treated like a bonvoy member, expect to get treated like Expedia. After checking into my room it was disgusting. The bathroom wasn’t cleaned my towels had stains on them and there was a list of amenities that weren’t in the room? I checked the mini fridge and it was empty. Overall one of my worst stays. Would not stay here again. As I was checking out there was literal dried up chili type looking waste on the elevator door midway. Me and the other person were disgusted I didn’t get a pic because I was running late but now regret it, because it was gross.

3.5 - room for improvement

222southerngirl (Cornelia, Georgia) on Jan 18, 2023

We stayed here as part of a package for the college football championship game. Check in at front desk was very easy and the gentleman who helped us was super. Our room was on the small side for 4 people, but manageable. Cleanliness could be improved upon as there were splatters on the bathroom mirror and old contact lenses crusted to the floor upon arrival. Rooms are dated and in need of a refresh. Bathroom layout was odd & the shower needed fresh grout. One huge complaint was the inconsistency of the water temp in the shower - from hot to cold to in-between multiple times during a normal shower! Our room was serviced daily (3 night stay) but waters were not replenished. We just got them from the front desk instead. Lunch at the bistro was good. Service from the coffee bar was SLOW with a line of 15 people of so each morning, which translates to a minimum 20 minute wait. It seems this could be avoided by a self-serve coffee station in the lobby and more staff on busy times such as this. Overall our stay was fine but we would likely stay elsewhere if in the area again.

Hotel needs an update and overall better service.

COTraveler45 (Spring Valley Village, Texas) on Jan 10, 2023

This hotel is in desperate need of an update. But besides that, our experience was subpar. The first room we were assigned smelled of stale cigarette smoke and the door did not close automatically. The door was not a big deal but the smoke smell was. We asked for another room and they accommodated with no problems. We were there to attend the CFP game so we were interested in watching the TV coverage before and after. Our tv remote did not work and we asked them to bring another. They came up with 3 and none worked. Asked again the next day and they brought one that did actually work. Also asked for housekeeping but came back to the room after the game cold and wet from the rain and our room had not been serviced. Could not get anyone to answer the phone to ask for fresh towels so my husband hunted someone down the next day to get towels. Overall not what we expected from a Marriott experience. We did express our concerns at checkout and the desk agent offered to comp our lunch which was very nice. But if you choose this hotel, know that it is dated and service is not top notch.

Top Notch Hotel, one of the nicest in Los Angeles

Mike19782009 (United States) on Jan 02, 2023

I’ve stayed here many times and it does not disappoint. The elevators going up and down the exterior of the building are alone a popular attraction. service was great, staff always friendly, Rooms have magnificent views if you request a “grand view room” which will cost extra but is worth it. not cheap with rates starting at $300+ per night plus taxes and parking fees, but worth it for its iconic reputation and to see where some popular movies were filmed. If you’re thinking of staying here don’t hesitate.
