Not for family !

hemant r (Hong Kong, China) on Jul 16, 2026

• ?? Atmosphere: The grand lobby and fast glass lifts gave a strong first impression, but the overall environment felt overcrowded and not relaxing. • ??? Food: The buffet breakfast had variety, which is a plus, but it didn’t seem to elevate the experience beyond “sufficient.” • ?? Amenities: Being given only two bottles of water for a two-night stay is indeed disappointing. Having to complain just to get more highlights a service gap. • ? Decision: Canceling the second night makes sense if you felt the service didn’t match expectations.

Worst experience, worst behavior!

Sadia I (Dhaka City, Bangladesh) on Jul 12, 2026

The service at this hotel is absolutely AWFUL, the worst I’ve ever experienced! The reception staffs are incredibly rude and have no idea how to speak to guests with basic courtesy or respect. They clearly have zero understanding of what hospitality is. The cleanliness is just as bad. The bedsheets, towels, room slippers, paper cups, bottled water, you name it, they don’t replace it. The room isn’t vacuumed properly either. It’s honestly disgusting. What’s even more frustrating is that housekeeping doesn’t clean the room every day on their own. We have to call reception or even go down to the lobby just to request room cleaning. Even then, when we return, the room is often still untouched, so we have to call again. Why should guests have to chase housekeeping after paying so much money for their stay? To make matters even worse, this wasn’t a one-time incident, it happened repeatedly for three consecutive days. When I finally called the reception to complain, the lady who answered hung up on me in the middle of the conversation! How dare she treat a paying guest like that? I’ve never experienced such disrespect from hotel staff. The level of customer service here is beyond unacceptable. This has been an incredibly disappointing experience, and I genuinely regret staying here. The staff show no concern for their guests, and the level of service is completely unacceptable. This is not hospitality by any standard. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

An aging L.A. icon

BNA-Wanderlust (Nashville, Tennessee) on Jul 07, 2026

The Westin Bonaventure has been featured in several movies and is a classic downtown L.A. hotel. However, it feels dated and fails to live up to the quality of many other Westin properties, such as the wonderful Westin Anaheim or the newly renovated Westin near LAX. That said, the hotel is convenient for walking through and exploring downtown Los Angeles. We had booked a one-bedroom suite, which featured a sitting area and a bathroom with a tub/shower combo. The room was generally clean, but the fixtures are certainly starting to show their age — much like many other areas of the property. Staff were friendly at check-in, and valets were prompt with my car. As a Bonvoy Ambassador elite member, I was given several coupons and discounts to use at the property café since the hotel does not have an executive lounge.

Good and bad in a 1970’s building

Jake2014 on Jun 14, 2026

This is a huge hotel built in the 1970’s. They have done what they can to modernize. Rooms were good. Bed was great. Our first room had a badly leaking toilet. They quickly moved us to another and refunded one night’s resort fee. The common areas at one time seem to have had almost a shopping mall. This has been deserted. That being said, when you see the unique design of the building, they have done what they can to modernize . As a platinum member we received a great free breakfast buffet, as well as drink and dessert vouchers. Quite a lot, really. The area around the hotel is not exactly dangerous, but there are not a lot of walkable restaurants and attractions. The only parking is $52 valet. We came and went multiple times and often had to wait 10-15 minutes for someone to come take our car. Unacceptable for $52 in my opinion.

Dated and broken.

worktripgoodfood (Winnipeg, Canada) on Jun 10, 2026

I booked the hotel because I had meetings downtown. However, it was not a very good experience. At every turn, things were broken and dated and illogical. The communication was absolutely terrible. For example, the restaurant, which is highly touted, is only open for dinner and only five days a week. So forget trying to grab lunch. Some of the elevator buttons don’t really work and the ridiculous pie shaped room is so sad and dated and honestly, I think this entire facility should be torn down. And I never say that. But whoever thought pie shaped rooms made sense was on drugs and it was the 70s so yes probably. Absolutely no communication about how to get your car out of the valet. There was a Korean restaurant that was promoted and didn’t actually seem to be part of the hotel. No clue how to get to the pool. And with four ridiculous elevator banks that are primary colours like we’re in kindergarten. It was unclear where people were going and what elevator bank took you to any destination. But the absolutely worst part of it all was the completely disrespectful and rude front desk staff. Upon checking in and twice later, trying to get information, they were overworked and too busy to actually look up from what they were doing. So hard to believe this is in the Marriott Family.
