Westin Hotel was a great place to stay

The Westin was selected by our tour company, Gate 1 Travel. Lovely hotel in downtown LA. Comfortable room with comfortable beds, clean, and great view from the 19th floor. The breakfast buffet was delicious along with light dinners ordered at the bar.

It is located in the downtown Los Angeles. it is built with a special architecture. There are four groups of elevators, transparent, different color each , that drives you to the rooms. Rooms are generally comfortable and clean, with helpful amenities like flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and air conditioning ,and also coffee machine. In about 500m there is a mini market, The hotel itself is beautiful, with great amenities and a welcoming atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful. There is a restaurant in the hotel, but it is close some days.
Not a first choice, but also not rejected!!

50 years old hotel built with a special architecture, unplastered walls and columns. High atriums all over and small indoor shopping mall, although may outlets seem abandoned. Due to the round shape of the building our room had a “triangle” shape making it a bit strange, but not uncomfortable. For a 4 star hotel of this brand we expected a better breakfast buffet with a bigger variety. Service was “good”, but almost everybody seemed bored and smileless. In the hospitality industry, genuine smile and high quality service are more than expected. Both Front Office team and FB team need a higher tempo.
Fine downtown LA Westin

Good enough property in a good location for downtown LA. Walking distance to many attractions like LA Live and crypto.com arena. Great value on Marriott points. Good fitness center. Lots of on-site facilities like you would find at a casino resort property sans casino. Revolving restaurant is still cool. Staff was excellent!
Clear signs of improvement

Objectively the Bonaventure should get 4 stars, but I’ll give it 5 to acknowledge management’s efforts at improvement. The last time I was here, in September 2024, the hotel was in bad shape. The hotel seems to have gotten its act together. My room was spotlessly clean and did not smell of smoke like last time, and the sofa in the sitting area looked and felt new. The lobby seems brighter, cleaner, and better maintained. The customer experience is improved: all the hotel employees I met had a great attitude, which was not the case last time. Good vibes in the revolving Bona Vista Lounge and the lobby bar. The early 2000s-era decor in the guest rooms (and bathrooms) still needs an update—and the hotel still seems too big to maintain and stay profitable given the overall decline of downtown LA—but if you were here in the last couple years and left unimpressed (as I did) or had an outright bad experience, I would give the Bonaventure another try. Marriott seems to have taken the Bonaventure’s many bad reviews seriously, and now is working hard to provide a better-maintained facility and good customer service at a reasonable price. Keep up the good work and I think the Bonaventure can return to much of its former glory.
