Clean, modern, family-friendly resort and getaway!

tanyaj0113 (Issaquah, Washington) on Apr 11, 2026

It had been 10 years since our last trip to Cabo, and we were long overdue for a sunshine filled getaway. Our only real requirement? A resort with a lazy river. That simple search led us to Villa La Valencia and honestly, we took a bit of a gamble booking it. Wow. We were completely blown away. From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. The resort is modern, spotless, and feels noticeably more luxurious than many places we have stayed throughout Mexico. The attention to detail and overall cleanliness really stood out. The pools are a huge highlight. There are several to choose from, including a stunning infinity pool, a relaxing lazy river, multiple family friendly options, and even a peaceful adults only pool. Whether you want energy or relaxation, there is something for everyone. The food was another standout. Overall, it was excellent. While El Patrón could use a bit more variety, La Taberna was absolutely incredible. We loved it so much we went five times. Chef Antonio clearly takes pride in every dish, and he even went out of his way to accommodate our vegetarian and vegan preferences with customized meals. That level of care made a big difference. There were also so many thoughtful activities that made the experience even better, especially for families. At night, they hosted outdoor movies complete with a popcorn stand for the kids, which was such a fun touch. During the day, there were daily outdoor group exercise classes, and plenty of opportunities to stay active. We played both beach and pool volleyball and loved every minute of it. We were also there over Easter, and they went all out with an egg hunt and tons of kid friendly activities. The service and hospitality truly set this place apart. Every staff member we encountered was warm, attentive, and went above and beyond to make our stay special. We were also pleasantly surprised by how safe the entire resort felt, which made it even easier to fully relax and enjoy our vacation. If there is one minor downside, it is that the room felt a bit small for our family of four, but with teenagers we probably just need more space in general. It is definitely on the pricier side, and I would highly recommend doing the meal plan. Otherwise, you are easily looking at a minimum of $200 per meal for a family of four. While spa treatments can also be expensive, everything else, the amazing food, upscale atmosphere, cleanliness, and amenities, makes this resort well worth it. We loved our stay so much that we are already planning our next trip back. Highly recommend Villa La Valencia to anyone looking for a beautiful, relaxing, and high end Cabo experience.

Excellent, excellent staff and management. The food is amazing for all inclusive and the grounds are maintained miticulously. The guest services managers are very good at diffusing situations and accommodating guests for the best experiences.

A nice hotel but have a few issues

mikeherm2549 (San Diego, California) on Apr 11, 2026

We recently stayed 5 nights at this hotel. We did the All-Inclusive meal plan for 4 nights when we were there. This hotel has very nice pools and we love the lazy river. The restaurants are okay. We really like the La Taberna restaurant, but the Latitude Steakhouse was not good at all. We also ran into a few issues during our stay and hope the management is willing to address some of these issues. - The pool close at 8pm but looks like they stopped the towel service around 3 or 4pm. If you come in to the pool late afternoon, it's almost impossible to get fresh new towels. I asked one of the waiters if I can get towels and he said "We stop towel service after 12pm." - It's not easy to order drinks when you're sitting by the pool. Looks like the only way for you to get drinks is to order from your pool waiter. I walked up to two pool bars (by Coralle and La Taberna) and both bartenders basically refused to serve me drinks. One of them said "I'm very busy, please order from your waiter." I obviously don't mind to order from our waiter but sometimes you don't want to wait 30 minutes before your drink shows up. - The housekeeping only came once during our 5 night stay. We put a "Do Not Disturb" sign for when we sleep at night but we removed it by 9am everyday. Someone came everyday to restock snacks and drinks, but nobody clean the room, make the bed, change towels, etc. - And the biggest issue for us is the tipping. Do the servers expect us to give 15% tip at the restaurants? Let's be honest, the food price at these restaurants are extremely inflated. If you don't have the all-inclusive meal plan, you'll easily spend US $400 to $500 to dine in at any of the restaurants for a family of 4. A 15% to 20% tip for that amount will be around $60 to $100. That's a lot of money! We did the all-inclusive plan because otherwise it doesn't make sense to eat at the hotel restaurants. However, the bill will still display the food price and at the bottom of the receipt it has "suggested tip for 10%, 15%, or 20%". We stayed in many all-inclusive hotels in Mexico and most of them don't display the meal price on the bill. We normally gave $20 to $25 tip and the servers were happy. One time we left a $20 tip at the restaurant and the server gave me an unhappy look and made me feel bad and awkward. Imagine you eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner everyday and have to spend close to $200 per day just for tips. Maybe that's ok for some people, but it's definitely a lot of money for us. But other than that, everything else was good. The hotel is pretty clean overall and they maintain the garden area by the pool pretty well. We might come back to stay here again in the future just because we love the pools.

This is a nice resort with some amazing employees and it should be able to score higher but a few things: the restaurants are kind of a mess to get tables at. There are really only two good dinner options (the steakhouse being the best) and you must book reservations for them weeks, maybe months, in advance and this isn’t clear on the website. Don’t do it through the concierge…..they will say they booked you and you’ll show up and there won’t be a reservation….saw this happen to multiple people including us. The resort wants to up charge you for a lot even if you have the all inclusive package….just be aware of that. The front of the resort with management is fairly apathetic to any concerns you might have. However, the staff who work at the pool are AMAZING! The best I’ve ever seen at an all inclusive…..Danny and Mario are second to none in entertaining kids, getting them involved, remembering guests names, making you feel welcome, and truly making the week incredible. Carlos is also a fantastic help at the pool and so kind about the pool chair situation which is dicey as it is as most resorts. It’s worth a stay but book your reservations for dinner on the website way ahead of time and print off the confirmations and bring them with you.
