Worth every penny!

We were very pleased with our trip! The room was cleaned daily and we always had nice, clean towels. The grounds on the resort are perfectly manicured. The pools were cold, but after a couple drinks it didn’t matter. We upgraded to the Butler service. Aaron and Orian were both fun, upbeat, personable and truly passionate about serving their guests. Our vacation was relaxing and seamless due to their hard work and thoughtfulness. These two blew us away!!! Even though we didn’t ask for much, we truly appreciated their hard work and dedication to making it a wonderful experience. The crew who handles the scuba diving were awesome too! Especially Doc, Big D and McKnight. They’re patient, experienced and great to learn from! Devon, one of the drivers was AMAZING! Not only was he an incredibly safe driver (also a pro race car driver!) but he’s knowledgeable about the culture and history of Jamaica, very friendly and personable and he impressed us with each trip with amazing conversation. He is a man of his word and even went out on the boat with us at the Luminous Lagoon, despite being afraid of boats and water. He is incredible and we hope to stay in touch. We would return in a heartbeat. We met some incredible people who hopefully have become lifelong friends.
Not Worth the Money

We went on this trip so excited and left beyond disappointed. Throughout our stay, we had significant issues, which we brought to the attention of management, who told us they would fix the problems. No problems were fixed and the problems even recurred. Firstly, the butler service is not worth spending one dime on. Drinks, food, and reservations were often slower than just managing them ourselves. On two occasions, we waited 2+ hours for pizza for lunch from the beachside pizza place. After the first time, I complained to management and they said that they would fix it and it would never a happen again. It happened again 2 days later. We also had issues with the tours. The first two tours we took were great. The third one, we got all the way to the site of the excursion and were told that the excursion was canceled and that the hotel had been notified. No one had told us, however, and we wasted 3 hours of the day and had woken up at 5:45 a.m. On the sixth night of our trip we went over to the Royal Caribbean resort to go to the Thai restaurant. Our butler had made us reservations. That said, when we arrived, there was no reservation in the system. Luckily they were accommodating at the other resort and still seated us. The last night we were at the resort, the manager of butler services and food and beverage told us that they were going to make our dinner great and make everything right. We waited to get seated for our 6:30 resrevation until 7:40 when we were finally seated. The worst part was that we were served rotten lobster (it was the texture of mashed potatoes) and no one ever checked on us to see how the food was. We ended up just leaving. The condition of the rooms in the resort was mediocre at best. The rooms have been updated, but things like door sweeps have been left off, which led to us finding multiple cockroaches in our room, including on the size of a ring finger. There were also holes and gaps around the air conditioning unit and the shower grout/caulk was moldy. The minibars are not restocked on a daily basis despite advertising that they do so. Snacks are supposed to be brought to the room, which does not occur daily. The pools were too cold to use (I know it’s January, so that may be why). Please note also that the hotel is directly adjacent to the Montego Bay airport runway, so there is often lots of airplane noise.\ We liked the Cafe de Paris. The staff there was awesome and they were as efficient as possible. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet at the Batyside. The spa services were also good and the staff there were very nice. Overall, I would never recommend this hotel to anyone, for any reason. If this is what all of the Sandals are like, I would never recommend going to Sandals unless you want to waste money and feel unhappy.
