Please do not stay here!! 1 star motel Pretending to be a 5 star Resort!!!!!

Please do not stay here!! 1 star motel Pretending to be a 5 star Resort!!!!! Myself, my husband, our 6 year old daughter and my mother stayed for 2 weeks at this resort. We are not new to travelling to Jamaica but this was the WORST EXPERIENCE EVER and sadly makes us not want to return to a country we love and have family living in. Check in- the check in process when we arrived was missing all important information and no complimentary drink upon arrival. Under staffed. We were not told; when and where the restaurants are and when they open for meal times, where and how to get towels for the pool, that they have an app to download and use, or how to book A la Cartes. No one offer to assist us with bringing our luggage to our rooms. Rooms/Bathrooms- Room service for food was not offered on the Grand side. We lost power twice during our two week stay. Bathrooms would either run out of hot water or ALL taps would have scolding hot water coming out. Fridge was not stocked nor were items used like water ever replaced even when we called down and asked multiple times, We had to go to the front desk to ask for more toilet paper after days went by of it not being replaced by cleaners, very hard to get clean towels for the bathroom, bedding was not replaced only bed remade, upon arrival one of our pillow cases had multiple blood stains on it and was again placed back on our bed the next day after I removed it and set it on the floor for the cleaner to take, we had no umbrella in our room and had 3 days of pouring rain had to ask 3 times for an umbrella which we were told should be in every room. Bed was extremely firm and old. My mom and 6 year old daughters room flooded from the ceiling and covered the floor with over an inch of water! At first we were told no other rooms available for her, upon more pleading they changed her room from a junior ocean/pool view 5th floor room to a first floor room which was located in a hallway that stunk soooo badly of mold, mildew and wetness. Outside this room was water leaking from the ceiling making wet spots on the dirty carpets. The next day she was switched into a 3rd room on the 5th floor with a similar view to what we had paid. NO REFUND OR COMMLIMENTARY ANYTHING to cover the price difference in the room she had to stay one full night and half a day in. Bathrooms on the entire property had broken soap dispensers, water leaking from vents, wet floor signs everywhere, cockroaches in the stalls, faucets that either did not work or only had extremely hot water coming out. Many stalls had broken locks or door locks that would jam – as I was locked in a bathroom for over 10 min trying to unjam the lock!! Elevators- Many of the elevators were out of service during our two week stay. The ones that worked made horrible sounds as if they were on their last legs of working, extremely hot no a/c in them, small in size max 6 people to an elevators, slow moving had to wait at length, they smelled of mold and mildew inside. Food- They will get someone severely sick!! No food in any of the buffets, beach side buffet was covered. Food warmers did not work/were not turned on as MANY dishes like pasta, cooked chicken, pork etc was ice cold. MANY meat dishes were raw/undercooked. Pizza dough multiple times was raw. Trays of scrabbled eggs were raw and clear/runny. Cockroaches/flies were in and around the food and in all the buffest and A La Cartes. We witnessed a Cockroach climb up from under the table were our daughter was sitting and crawl onto the table by the hibachi grill and took my mother two attempts to kill!! We could not stay to finish our meal! A La Cartes were next to impossible to book! We had to check every few hours on the app and finally we booked two only to have one cancelled on us as they stated “due to uncontrollable circumstances” and the other to have a cockroach on our table! When new food trays came out in the buffets the fresh food was dumped ontop of old crusty food or they would scrap the old onto the new food. People were using their hands to grab food as not enough tongs. Ice cream area was liquid as not cold enough and placed so low down that kids were bent over coughing and touching the ice cream tubs. Vast majority of the food items were either not labelled at all or incorrectly labelled. Stale food items like breads/buns. Hot dogs for the kids were dyed bright pink. Safest food to eat was the onions rings and pancakes. MANY guests including us were sick from the food – could not run to a bathroom fast enough!!! Our daughter had stomach pains after eating from the main buffet. Pool/Beaches- The main beach was nice and sandy as expected. The beach located closer to the main pools was however extremely rocky that even with water shoes on was too dangerous/painful to walk into. We witnessed a women slice her foot open trying to walk into the water and need medical attention from staff to bandage her wound. The Kids pool area was fun for the kids, water shoes are a MUST as the tiles they use around all pool areas were EXTREMELY slippery. Witnessed many people fall and slide while walking. All pool staff were attempting to sell weed to anyone they approached and we witnessed one life guard keeping his weed to sell inside his first aid kit. Not enough pool area chairs for families to use, people smoking weed and cigarettes in areas that very clearly stated no smoking. Towel cart ran out of pool towels often. Pool Bar opened at 10am and would not even serve water before 10am as my daughter and I were turned away. The pool area entertainment staff did do a great job keeping people busy and entertained during the day however many days the music choices played were country music. No entertainment for kids in any of the pool areas. All entertainment was for adults only and everyone from the adult only side of the resort came to the family side as this was the only area they offered entertainment like games, activities and foam fun. Staff and Grounds- Our experience with the staff was not great to say the least. Customer service was LACKING. As bad as our stay was if we had great customer service it would have made our stay more tolerable. They were only smiling and nice to you when they were trying to sell you an excursion or package. They have the Privilege Club and staff wrangled up guests stating it was the resorts 16 year birthday and to come celebrate and receive a free gift. We went and ended up trapped in a room inside for a marketing sales thing that lasted from 8:30am-3pm!!! The most helpful, kind, and genuine staff members were the women in blue shirts that had badges stating “Contractors” who helped take care of the grounds. These contractors did not have name ID’s like any of the other staff and I do not understand why as they were THE MOST kind and helpful staff on property!! One staff that worked front desk was friendly and approachable. The Come to Tours Rep in the main lobby area was kind and remembered us after one meeting and continued to say hi to us which was lovely. The Transat Rep was less than helpful as she refused to help my mom check in for her flight even though my mom could not access her email to check in herself. I had to go and figure out how to do it for her. This rep had slow internet and stated her phone crashed and couldn’t access the transat app. Everyone else appeared bothered every time they were approached even if you approached and were happy/smiling etc you were not met with the same kindness. Staff looked like they were exhausted about hearing complaints all day everyday. As many staff would state “we know” and “come back next year it will be better”. Staff knew they had water damage issues, they knew about the cockroaches but nothing was ever done. The property is massive feels like a giant compound with endless amounts of stairs, which for anyone with a disability or for small kids, or the elderly this was a huge challenge. They had golf carts to take you around but no one ever knew when they were coming/how to get one to take you somewhere or where to wait for one for pick up/drop off. The grounds was covered in yellow “Wet Floor” Signs, they attempted to put grip tape on some stairs and over the small bridges that went over the pools but the tape was pulled up/not sticking down/ and not enough of it. I witnessed a 40 something year old man fall to his back on the bridge over the pool due to how slippery in was and he had running shoes on! The entire resort had water damage in the ceilings, walls and carpets. Each area of damage was either left alone, being painted over, or had a cloth/sheet nailed over it. We witnessed a large ceiling leak in the bathroom and watched as cleaner stood with a mop waiting for water to pool on the floor in the bathroom to mop it up and wait again for it to pool on the floor to again try to mop it up all with no one called to fix it.
SERIOUS HEALTH CONCERNS - HOOKWORM ON BEACH!
Taylor M on Nov 29, 2023
I have recently returned from Bahia Principe last week. I was at the resort from November 8th -17th 2023, along with 57 of my closest friends and family celebrating my wedding. Unfortunately, 11 of our guests (and counting) have returned home with extremely itchy feet. After many of us had similar symptoms (red, bumpy feet) we thought it was best to seek medical advice. All 11 of us were diagnosed with ‘hookworm’. Hook worm is a parasite that spreads in the feces of animals, particularly found in tropical beaches. The parasite is then transmitted through bare skin (feet) that come in contact with sand or soil, that has been infected. I don’t normally post on websites like this, but the last 5 days has been extremely uncomfortable for not only myself, but also 11 of my closest friends and family. We are all on an medicine called ivermectin, to treat the bacterial infection and to (hopefully) kill the parasite and help alleviate the constant itch and hoping that things will clear up soon. We spent majority of our trip at the beach volleyball court, beside the kids water park. I would avoid this area, and would 100% recommend wearing flip flops or sandals at all times while walking on the resort grounds. I (along with 11 of my friends and family) have been force to take time of work to deal with the repercussions, and pay for medications out of pocket as well. This is an issue that could have been fixed, had the resort maintained their beaches properly. When guests are spending thousands of dollars on a vacation, the last thing that we should be encountering is a parasite. The resort MUST maintain their beaches properly and notify guests that they can absolutely never walk on the sand barefoot. My group has reached out to the resort with these serious health and safety issues and they basically told us they won't be doing anything about it (see screenshot of response). It is completely unacceptable that the resort is not taking any accountability when this has been an ongoing issue for years.
