I have been waiting for a refund after cancelling my booking with this hotel well over a month ago. I was pre charged the full amount for a 10 night stay months before we were due to travel and after cancelling I have had no response from the email provided on and no update on when this refund will be processed although it was well within the supposedly “free cancellation” window. I am hugely disappointed with the lack of response from the hotel and will continue to make efforts to get in touch until my refund is issued. This is a disgraceful way to treat customers and I will be telling anyone I know who is travelling to New York to avoid this appalling place.

Hotel 57 New York Fawlty Towers

Wendyje1 on Jun 29, 2024

Whaf I would call New York Fawlty Towers. We booked this hotel while it was part of the Wyndham group. We recieved an email to say that although the hotel had left this group nothing in our booking had changed. The bed itself was comfortable but not a queen as we had booked jusf a double. The telly had been cut off from cable so could only watch you tube which didn't work properly either so had to subscribe to Netflix. Breakfast on Sunday and Monday was a couple of small pastries and tea or coffee in the lounge and some fresh fruit. When we arrived for breakfast on Tuesday we were told that they had stopped providing this even though it was in our booking. The foyer soon filled up with loads of people complaining so they gave us some vouchers to use at something called Alfred's, a bit like just eat. We got 10 dollars each per day, the delivery wax 5 dollars and a coffee was 7 dollars so you not getting much there. So they upped it 15 dollars each but you still couldn't get much for that and what you could get was not great and cold by the time it was delivered. So had to have breakfast out. So the hotel itself was a bit of a disaster but was in a good place for sightseeing and the staff were really friendly. Gabriel the general manager did his best to help sort everything out for us. So on the whole we enjoyed our trip.
