Think About Changing. Bad Shape, Not Worth the Money
Jul 03, 2022
I was at the Beaches Ocho Rios resort for multiple days and up until July 4th. I hate to do this as I am someone who has been at a different Beaches resort 5 or so years ago and I thought it was really really well kept, good food, good service, and great overall. In fact, this is the first bad review I have ever written about anyplace as I usually feel my perception is just my own reality.
Let me stress that the employees were very nice. Beaches Ocho Rios has clearly decided they are ok with being one of the worst resorts I have stayed at (10+). This is disappointing to me as this will be the first impression many will have of the Beaches and Sandals organization.
I am actually also a bit concerned about the potential health and safety risk for those staying.
This place is now a 1 star resort at best charging 4 star prices. The food is not good, again worst of all the all-inclusive resorts I have been at. You would be better off to cancel and take a credit for a future stay somewhere else.
I am including a few pics to validate my comments and personal opinions, however I believe the pics will show the level of, or lack there of, care the resort management and Beaches has about providing the 4 star service they charge you for.

I was somewhat disappointed with our stay. I had hear people talk about Sandals food being fabulous and I will say it looked amazing. However the food was not good. It's had tons of garnishments and fancy looking elements but it all tasted generic. We are at Neptune's and I had to use a steak knife to cut Swordfish filet and my daughter's steak and my son's lamb had so much fat and gristle no one finished their meal and we had similar experience in the Italian restaurant with chicken parmesans. I know I sound like just a picky eater but I never send food back to the kitchen at a restaurant. I will say the view was amazing from the ocean view room but there were several small elements to the trip that left us disappointed. Our shower didn't drain so it was a race to finnish before it overflowed. When we checked in our mini fridge wasn't stocked because it was full of towels from being defrosted. I bought spa services online but when I arrived they said I bought from the kids menu but I showed them online nowhere did it say children's services so I was out another $97 due at the property for services I thought were paid. When went to the gift shop and she over charged my credit card and was very apologetic but it seemed weird. I am a smoker and there is only one area on the property you could smoke even though I had a balcony and twice when I went people were smoking marijuana. Since I had my kids with me I was bothered by that. Maybe if it was an adult only. But the reason they said my room didn't have a mini bar was because it was a family resort. So I didn't understand the weed thing. It not all was bad. The kids enjoyed the water park and even though my kids are teens several mid afternoon Seasome street shows by the pool we're amusing. The frozen drinks were good if you go get a Bob Marley. It did take three hours in a van to get from the airport to the resort because of traffic and two hours back without so be prepared for long travels to arrive. The mattress was more like a two star mattress. The thing that did stand out as amazing was several staff went out of their way for service. So overall I probably wouldn't go back for the money I would stay elsewhere.

From the reviews I had read I was expecting A very elegant, clean, cool place to go with our family. Instead this resort is very old, and run down. We understand the staff shortage issue is everywhere but our room door looked as if someone had bashed it in to enter it. It did not close on its own. Definitely not real clean. They overbooked and had so many weddings and people they could not keep up with towels at the pools and had to find people to take drink orders. Very understaffed. Almost everything is an added cost. If you want to celebrate a birthday they will do that for you but for an added fee depending on what you order. Make sure you have your paperwork with you about all you order for confirmation as they will argue with you and try to charge you more unless you prove you paid for it. We made wonderful memories with our family but would choose a different resort next time.

Please believe all the reviews I wished I did. I recently visited and will not recommend spending your money go to RIU. All-inclusive beachfront is not what the pictures shows horrible in real time view. I had so much maintenance issues for the 3 nights 4 days' vacation. My friend who got married on the trip also stayed beachfront and had so many issues my other friends who stayed to the top was ok. One the front of the room is very tacky, no hot water i was told to turn the water on and let it run 15-20 minutes so it can get hot really?? It didn't work, the tub was clogging while taking a shower, the blind fell on me house keep said just put it there they will fix it, guess what fix not. At 2 am got up to use the bathroom guess what not flushing no water in the tank and the list goes on. I would never go back here or recommend it. The workers are so warm and nice it is ashamed you cannot even tip them. I am sure they make next to nothing and work tireless. Beaches need to take all that money they are make and do so serious renovations

Just to start this was a trip from hell starting in 2020. We had no guidance from staff about activities for us or our kids, or about food and restaurants. But the resort itself was just ok. Our fridge was broke. Our toilet broke. The bartender was not very nice and never smiled. The entertainment crew was AWESOME though. I’m glad we went; my kids loved it. But we will never go back. Especially for the amount of money it costs
