Even the strikes didn't diminish from this great hotel

Hotel definitely had the wow factor as soon as you walked in the door. We were unlucky that the first 4 days of our trip collided with strikes in LA with the striking staff banging drums, horns and chanting very loudly at 4.30am - not a great start. Luckily after 4 days all was quite again. However, during the early morning disruptions the Manager Trey was absolutely amazing, an absolute asset to the Company and did everything in his power to help. Despite the lack of sleep and cleaning staff for the first 4 days I would still give this hotel 10/10 and would 100% go back. It is within a 55 minute walk to the parks and plenty of restaurants and shops in very close proximity and once the strikes were over the hotel really came into its own.

Location is key

We have just returned from an 8 night stay here. Now first off I would stay at the Sheraton Park again, but I was underwhelmed.   I had heard so many good things about this hotel but I was not impressed.  Its part of a hotel chain, I get it.   Huge reception.   We checked in and there was no “Hello”, “How are you”, “Welcome” or nothing.   She simply took our credit card details and issued us with our room key.    As part of booking with Virgin you get an upgrade to a Disney view which we did have and I had emailed to ask for a quiet floor which it was (until the protesters arrived on the last three days of our trip) and we had a gorgeous view of the fireworks and a full balcony.   The room was OK a bit on the small side but OK for us three.  We used this hotel to sleep in and that was all we did.    We never ate there, we never used the pool or any of the facilities.  Not because it was awful but we were never there.    We had 5 days at Disney so were there from open to close and then the other days were also out and about.  On checking out there was no “How was your stay”, I think they were afraid to ask maybe because whilst we were waiting for our Uber to take us to LAX I heard 2 sets of people complaining about the protesters.   This was annoying and this didn’t ruin our stay but it was just not the hotel I was expecting.  I was chatting to Brian at Guest Services whilst we were waiting for our Uber to LAX and he was a very nice, friendly chap.  Asked him about the protesters.  He said its all big hotel chains which have a union.    He said its all over California even down in San Diego.  We were advised by Virgin before we left that these things were happening but we only experienced it for the last three mornings of our stay.   The location is what makes this hotel.  It is about 10/15 minutes walk from Disney.   Its was mid 30’s when we were in Disney and it was nice to pop back for a couple of hours respite from the parks before going again.   The walk to and from the park had a few unsavouries around especially outside the 7/11 and my daughter was a bit nervous but they didn’t bother us.  Didn’t really expect that around Disney but I suppose there is nothing they can do.    There is a Walgreens, CVS and 7/11 minutes from the hotel and various food options within walking distances but no real big shops within walking distance.   The walk down to Target takes about 30 minutes, yes I did it three times during our stay to get brekkie supplies and fruit. I would as I say stay here again because it is so convenient for Disney.
