Nice old hotel with needed renos. D'ont get fooled by the beachfront images because that is the Holdelpa Emotions Hotel. Viva is a 5 minute walk through a little wilderness passage with birds and turtles from behind the pool. Had the Amnesia room that is big although outdated with a standard decor. Grounds are well kept & clean. What they call a mini bar is actually a mini fridge with 3 water bottles & 2 soft drinks upon arrival, afterwards you only get water. There are serveral tiny red ants around bathroom sink & coffee station. Floor in the washroom is ofter wet because thier A/C are situated in between the floor that creates condensation on the tiles. Hot water takes a good 3 minutes to finally arrive. We also noticed that our sheets & pillow cases were sometimes unchanged. We did complained on that issue. Bring mugs because drinks are served with 8 oz plastic glasses. The beach area is small & surrounded by a few plam trees, so not many shaded areas. Pizza is great at the beach area. Buffet is above average although the ventilation is not great which leave your clothes stinky, & d'ont be surprised to dine with flies. The juices & oatmeal are watered down. The A La Catres are also above average with good friendly service. Avoid rooms facing main road or the side ones to eliminate traffic noise from mainly scooters. Doors in hallways are snug, so plenty of door slaming going on. Keep in mind that this hotel is 27 years old.

Overall a good trip. 1st timer in DR Stayed April 10-17. Check in was quick. Originally stayed in room 2201 but AC wasn’t working and created the floors to be wet. Moved us to room 2206. Hotel is very clean. Housekeeping best of the best. Rooms were cleaned early every day. Buffet.- was ok. Always seemed to be the same foods in rotation. Restaurants. Mexican - Italian was our Fav. Sofrite not so much. Awesome little coffee shop on premises. Main bar. Quick but alcohol watered down. Store - very expensive. Taxi to town $35 return. Can get cheaper on main stripe for $5 each way. Entertainment staff. Friendly and work hard to keep guest entertained throughout the day. Hazard. Floors are slippery.
