Sadly the resort declines year after year

We have been coming to this resort for many years and sadly this was probably our last. The food is terrible, the resort is outdated and could be cleaned better. Years ago the staff was so fun and outgoing. Not anymore. This resort needs to make some serious changes as many people have started they would not return. The resort is located in such a great location to the airport and downtown, beach access is great.
Very disappointed

When we arrived, it took an hour in the line to get to the check-in desk. There was only one person at the check-in desk. There was an Air Canada Vacations group from Vancouver that had arrived which they would have known about and should have had more staff at check-in. When we got to the room, there was no TV in the room. Cables for the TV were sticking out of the wall. The concierge person, who helped us bring our luggage to the room, even commented that there should be a TV there and said he would report it and have one sent up. Also the safe was lying loose on the shelf and was not anchored and any one could have just taken the whole safe. At 9:30 that evening a maintenance person knocked on the door and said that he had been sent over because problems had been reported. We pointed him to the missing TV and also showed him the safe. By that time we had also noticed that the hot water faucet on the sink was loose and showed him that too. He said he would be back the next morning with the tools (including a drill to anchor the safe to the wall) and everything would be fixed. The next day, we left the room at around 10:30am with a "Please make up room" sign. When we got back at 4:00pm none of the Issues (TV, safe and faucet) were dealt with and the room was not cleaned. I reported it to the information desk and was told someone would be there to clean the room in 10 minutes. 30 minutes later the cleaning of the room had not even started. So I went back to the information desk and was told that all he could do was to put it on the computer which he had and there was nothing else he could do. I asked to speak to the manager and was referred to Eric the Supervisor. Eric said someone would be there to clean the room in 10 minutes. I also mentioned the TV, safe and faucet to Eric. Again 30 minutes later no one had gone to the room. I went back to see Eric and his first response was that my expecting someone to come and clean the room so quickly was unreasonable and that it would be done before 7:00pm. I told him that was not acceptable and he called the housekeeping supervisor and I was assured that someone would be there to clean the room in 10 minutes. I also told Eric that I wanted to see the manager and he said that the manager was at the other facility. My wife went up a little later (by this time it was around 5:30pm) and I sat in the lobby. Pedro the manager then came to see me and I explained to him my frustrations and he apologized and said he would take care of getting everything done. The room finally got cleaned at around 6:15pm. A little after 6:30pm, a security person came to the room to check on the safe. He opened and closed it and said there was no problem. I told him it was not anchored and his response was that he is not a mechanic and left. The next day Pedro, the manager, came with someone with the TV. I showed him the safe and he agreed that it should be anchored as otherwise someone can walk away with the whole safe. I also mentioned the faucet to Pedro. The faucet and the safe were never fixed during our stay. Also there were no chair in the room, but I thought that perhaps they don't have chairs in the rooms, but walking past a few rooms that were open, I noticed that there were chairs in those rooms. I was so fed and frustrated by that time, that I decided not to take up with the front desk or information. There are insufficient shaded areas on the beach for the size of the hotel. The food was mediocre to say the least. The hotel needs refurbishment. In its present condition, it is certainly not 4.5 star. At best it is 3 star. I paid good money and was very disappointed.
