Relaxing for couples

We chose Hotel Mousai not only for the luxurious experience but also for the Delicious Food, we booked the Ultra Mousai Suite - North Tower - All-Inclusive through Costco Travel. We really enjoyed Dao Chinese & Hiroshi Japanese that we reserved dinner twice at each during our 7 night stay. The room was exactly what we’ve seen in pictures. The ocean view from our 6th floor room/balcony was breathtaking. We really enjoyed the jacuzzi in the balcony. Our butler, Carlos Ramos was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The rooftop infinity pool in our North Tower was absolutely luxurious! Highly recommend the Watermelon Fresh drinks for alcohol and hydration all in one drink. My husband & I had the Hydrotherapy prior to our ‘Soul Connection’ Couples Exfoliating/Massage which was very rejuvenating. Overall the service and experience was amazing. If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway, book your stay with Hotel Mousai.

A nice hotel but didn't quite live up to expectations

Overall, hotel Musai was a nice, adults only hotel. We had excellent service from the staff, the food was amazing, the cocktails were on point and the views were breathtaking. We were located in an ultra suite on the 8th floor in the older, north tower. Even though the tower was older, you couldn’t tell because it was spotlessly clean and very nice. Everything was modern and the aesthetics were wonderful. We spent 5 nights in the romantic zone exploring the areas all around PV and by the time we checked into Mousai, we didn’t want to leave the resort as we just wanted to eat, drink and chill, which is exactly what we did. The room was beautiful with a heated seat on the toilet, a plunge pool and hammock on the balcony, a well-stocked mini bar and a super comfy king bed. I was even able to connect my iPhone to the room’s Bluetooth system and it worked flawlessly. The pampering continued on the rooftop pool deck where we spent the majority of our time. The cocktails were truly craft, the food was always fast and delicious and the staff always had a smile on their face. I also want to talk about things that didn’t work out smoothly for us. For example, check-in took nearly 30 minutes. Part of the reason it took so long is because they try to get you to take their “tour” which is basically a sales pitch for their timeshare. We said no to this, like five times. We had some resort credit from Costco and it was at check-in that we learned just how limited the resort credit could be used. Basically, resort credit could only be used at spa appointments over 80 minutes (which we did) but did not apply to the mandatory, included gratuity, so we had to pay cash for that. The other place you could use the credit was to upgrade food at the resort restaurants. In the end, we lost $100 in resort credit because we didn’t upgrade our food or find a spa appointment where we could use it. Resort credit could not be used for gratuity, laundry, pay per view movies (yes, this hotel requires you to pay to watch films on demand), etc. After checking into our room for the first time, I noticed the mini bar did not have any gin. I messaged our butler and asked to swap out any of the other bottles of liquor and he said this was not possible. This was disappointing. We also had to wipe down the toilet seat because apparently this was missed before we got to the room. We were awoken by loud construction after our first night. It turns out that they are building two new towers and rebuilding a steakhouse right next to our towers. This was VERY disappointing and put a cramp on our morning relaxation. The sound of heavy machinery operating and this 5-diamond hotel was not pleasant. Generally, the cleaning of the room and the turndown service were good. However, the room cleaning was not consistent. We had to ask for multiple items, multiple times. For example, they didn’t replace the beach towels on the balcony after our first day and I had to ask them twice to do so. I also had to ask and follow up on the advertised room aroma therapy a few times. They need to do a better job of anticipating needs of the guests and maybe not rush to get things done. We had reservations in the steakhouse one night, but it was so hot and loud in the with the many children from the surrounding resorts that we walked out. I would have preferred to eat at McDonalds over their steakhouse. The last item that I would like to address is every single time you have to “close out” your bar bill or restaurant bill, meaning, if you have a quick cocktail in the lobby bar or if you’re at the rooftop pool all day eating and drinking, you must sign a document regardless of the color of your bracelet. By doing this, I feel pressured to leave additional gratuity every single time. The hotel’s website states that the all-inclusive plan includes gratuity but you wouldn’t know that based on how they required you to sign for everything. I have been on plenty of cruises and other all-inclusive resorts where this was not required. If the service was extra great, I would simply hand them cash. Would I revisit Mousai in the future? There would have to be a very compelling reason to do so, otherwise, I will move on to the next highly rated adults only hotel.

Noi at Mousai Puerto Vallarta

The food and service at NOI were second to none!!!. Enrique and Chino were on point..... never an empty glass and/or plate. I highly recommend this restaurant. Thank you again to Enrique and Chino. Great birthday celebration!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Staff at Hotel Mousai

This hotel was everything! The staff were amazing and very attentive. I want to make a special shoutout to Pilar and Nabile at The Terrace restaurant. We were always happy to see them when we arrived; they made us feel like we were visiting their home. I could go on and on about all of the staff, but I want to say a big thank you to Ricardo. He was very attentive to our needs. When we were having dinner at Karuma, it started to rain, and he brought the sprinter van to us and met us at the restaurant with umbrellas! Elizabeth, our butler, was fantastic. Anything we needed, she was there to help us. I could go on and on, but these words barely do it justice.
