Just the facts

Stayed at the Krystal from Jan 15-25. First time at this resort but have stayed many times at All Inclusive resorts between the airport and the Malecon. Including the Krystal Altitude (formerly Hilton) as well as the Krystal Grand in Nuevo Vallarta. Check -in was quick as we were the only 2 from our shuttle to get off at this hotel. Was told room would still be about an hour and we were welcome to get something to eat while we waited. They do not have a map or very good signage telling people where to find things. We were in the new tower on the 8th floor with a mountain view. Ocean views are nice but since I don't spend much time on the balcony the mountain view is nice as well. The room was large enough but had very little storage. No dresser or drawers large enough to put any clothes in. Maybe your underwear but definitely not shorts and shirts and bathing suits. Closet has about 10 hangers. I like to unpack for my vacation but unfortunately this time we kept most of our cloths in our suitcases. The bathroom had 2 towels only, no facecloth, no handtowel, no hair dryer. They did supply shampoo, conditioner and lotion. On day 2 I asked the maid for a couple facecloths and was given them. Buffet Restaurant is very Mexican traditional for decor. As with most buffets temperatuure is always the biggest issue. Even the pickiest of eaters should be able to find something every meal. There is an egg/ omelet section in the mornings, as well as pancakes and frenchtoast with all the other items, potatoes, rice, vegetables etc. every meal. The Italian and Oriental ala cartes, were good. Menu is small but the items we had were very tasty and hot. The pools at this resort are ICE COLD. This is probably the worst thing about this resort. The temperature never changed in them for the entire 10 days, so my guess is that they are continuously being filled with cold water and none have a heater. The beach is lovely with lots of space and places to sit. You can watch the Skydivers land just a few hundred feet away. Sunsets are always spectacular over the bay. Seen a couple of whales from the beach our first 2 days there but none for the remainder of the trip. A couple of staff that stood out while we were there was Carlota and both of the Leonel's and Kevin at the bar. Great service everyday. Thank-You! Overall this resort is quite old but they have done well keeping it maintained. The grounds are beautiful and clean, They bring in a water truck almost daily to keep everything lush and green. There is alot of wasted space that could be better utilized. It would be nice if they set up a coffee bar in the tower lobby or somewhere on the resort. The bars could open a little earlier. They don't open until 11 am and they do not serve Mimosa's or baileys in the morning. I have stayed at better hotels and I have stayed at worse hotels. To me the biggest thing would be to heat at least one of the pools, preferably the adult one. I would stay again if the pricing was cheap but otherwise probably not.
Nice Staff

I found the staff very friendly. They would provide anything I needed right away. Miguel Cano was there always. His English was good so communicate with him was easy. The front desk and kitchen staff were awesome too.
