Good Food, Good Drinks, Good Times

My wife and I visited in late August 2023 for 7 days, and had a great, restorative time. The pools and restaurants are great. Due to a hurricane nearby, the ocean was much too rough for swimming, but one night we went for a walk and watched a sea turtle bury her eggs, which was an incredible once-in-a-lifetime experience. I would like to recognize Dalia from Bar Volare. She took great care of us and had excellent conversation. We liked this bar the best because it was both the quietest and consistently had the kindest and most technically skilled bartenders. Javier at the beachside restaurant, Mai Tai, was an incredible personality and excellent host. He knew how to predict our tastes, in terms of both food and conversation, and made what could have been an ordinary lunch into a fun, invigorating time. Javier at La Pergola was super attentive, and took great care of us at all of our meals. For four of our days at the resort, we failed to realize that while the normal buffet restaurant had been closed, the buffet was still available, but had been relocated to the hotel's event space—this resulted in us dining at La Pergola for breakfast for those four days, but it was still great, because of the quality of Javier's service. The poolside server/bartender, Alejandra/Alexandra, provided us with the best poolside drink service we've ever received. She worked very hard and helped us to have a great time enjoying the pool. Overall, the resort is great for the price. While this resort normally caters to families with children, there is a fantastic adults-only pool with plenty of seating throughout the day. Late August is a quiet time to go.

Great experience as always, special thanks to Berenice Fernandez, always amazing. We loved seeing Laura and Cesar at the Mai Tai. Fernando, David and Dany from sports and entertainment were great. Elsa at the breakfast buffet was great. Christian and Guillermo at Amalfi made our dinners feel like coming home. We did notice the menu at Amalfi keeps getting changed and seems downgraded. Same can be said for the menu at La Pergola, qualify of the food has declined. Las Palomas menu was great. All-Inclusive Fees are increasing which is understandable but the quality and preparation of menu items needs to be improved to match pricing. Overall great, the people make this a special place to keep coming back to. We will be back in January and hope menus, preparation and presentation at Amalfi and Pergola have improved.
