My husband and I are frequent travelers to Casa Velas and this last trip, was nothing short of perfection!!! We have reviewed this hotel many times so you can refer to my other reviews about food, rooms, etc. I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to our friends at Casa Velas for another fantastic week! We have come to think of CV as our Puerto Vallartan home! Many many thanks to the following for making it a perfect and relaxing vacation (once again!): Nabila and Ricardo in reception. All of the breakfast staff at Emilianos--thanks for keeping the Mimosas fresh! The staff at Tau--Benny, Enrique, Eric, and Antonio--the service, food and drinks were great as always. Daniel is always our favorite waiter at Emilianos! Yolanda and Xochi in the spa give the absolute best massages! We are already counting down the days until we return in December! Muchas Gracias, friends. See you soon!
Rejenerative Retreat - Above and Beyond Staff
Jul 27, 2022
OVERALL: I cannot recommend this resort more highly. My partner and I had a very difficult year personally and booked Casa Velas based on the recommendation of friends who visit every couple of years. We expected a comfy hotel with decent food and drink, but left feeling like we had been treated like prodigal children. We enjoyed the experience at the resort so much, that my partner and I decided to cancel a 2 outside expeditions to stay on site. We knew we wouldn’t get better service anywhere else! Below is a breakdown of my experience.
PLANNING: When planning the trip - the live chat feature was very helpful. The response time was very quick every time I used it (and I used it quite a bit) to ask very specific questions about rooms, food, activities, costs, etc. Please ask them questions!
ARRIVAL: Our plane was scheduled to arrive later than anticipated - when my partner contacted them during a layover, they were already aware and tracking our incoming flight! A shuttle is available to schedule to pick you up from the airport for around $40 US, we opted to get our own taxi for ($20). At check-in we were immediately offered waters, shown some of the grounds and guided to our rooms, our bags were waiting at our room.
FACILITIES: Extremely clean and well maintained. The custodial and grounds crews put in their sweat equity - everything was always beautifully pruned, cut, swept, wiped down every day. All shared spaces were neat and thoughtfully arranged. Common area bathrooms were always very clean. The pool was cleaned daily and I saw them check PH levels.
ACCOMODATIONS: We had a 2nd story room facing the golf course. We were seemingly upgraded (at no cost) from a Master Suite to a Master Plus. The sq footage was nice to have - along with a sizable outdoor patio. I’m sure we would have been comfortable in a Master Suite. The bedding was very comfortable. The A/C works really well. The portable dehumidifier kept our air very comfortable. The minibar was always stocked, but a room cleaning is not automatic - which I liked because I don’t want to waste water with new towels every day. The included robe and slippers were nice to have/lounge around in.
DINING: The hospitality and attention to detail with meals is where CV shines. They remembered my all of my drink preferences from breakfast to dinner, service was quick and extremely attentive (never expect your glass to run dry). The day before Ramón had his day off, he specially prepared an off menu cocktail for me, so I could still have it in his absence.
FOOD: Meals were perfectly cooked to order and artistically plated. Dinner specials were offered all week and the regular menus for all meals offer plenty of options. My favorites were: Waffles, French Toast, Shrimp Burrito, Fish Tacos, Camarones al ajillo, Sopa de chícharo, whole red-snapper (huachinango), pechuga de pollo and some off menu (dairy free) desserts.
The highlight here is that the kitchen staff (particularly Chef Ernesto) and waitstaff went above and beyond. My partner has heavy, health-related dietary restrictions. Chef Ernesto came out personally each evening to speak with us about “ideas” he had imagined for us each day. It makes me emotional to think about because my partner rarely has positive experiences dining out - this is the first time in 6 years that I have ever seen her be able to choose literally anything she wanted off a menu.
DRINK: I’m not really a cocktail person, but every day I found myself trying a new drink. My favorites were the Garra de León, Sabor a Ti, and the off-menu ‘Ramón Especial’. All drinks were well-mixed and very refreshing. I saw a whiny review on here that said the drinks were watered-down, which I had to laugh at…If you prefer to taste your booze, just ask for more..they are more than happy to accommodate!
-Live music every evening: Saxophonist, Violinist/Singer, Harpist, Guitarist. Beginning in the evenings, the music provided a beautiful atmosphere in the central area of the resort.
-Local plants and wildlife abound but don’t annoy
-I got 2 massages (one from Imelda and another fromXóchitl). I get a massage every couple of months and I really enjoyed both experiences.
THANK YOUS: Management, please commend the following staff members:
Concierge/Hospitality: Sofia, Ricardo, Iván, Jerry, Veronica
Massage: Xóchtil and Imelda
Breakfast: Jesus x2, Victor x2, Alfredo, Eric, Óscar
Aqua Bar: Ramón, Gerardo
Tau Beach Club: David, Enrique, Benny
Dinner: Chef Ernesto, Eduviges, César, Riocio, Ávalos, Daniel, Chef Hugo
Grounds Crew and Custodial Crew - I wish I could name you, but rarely saw your name tags Thank you so much for your hard work!
