I was in Puerto Vallarta July 15-19th. On the 19th, American Airlines canceled our flight leaving us in PV until the next day, July 20th. They sent us to a hotel for the night - this hotel.
When we walked into the lobby, it was sweltering. I know Mexico is hot, but this hotel has an open lobby, and there was not one fan blowing. No chairs, no water, nothing. The one small bar gave out little, kid sized cups of water. Not even bottled water. Krystal Vallarta set us up in rooms they called Villas, located on the ground level. When I walked up to my villa, I knew immediately this was going to be troublesome. Firstly, my key didn't work. Luckily the bellman had a master key. The front entrance was overhung by tree branches (think pergola) and the ground was covered by some sort of berries. (I hoped at that time they were berries). When he opened the door, first thing I noticed was the decor. The couch upholstery and the bed spread were definitely from 1960. Then I noticed the dead bugs all over the floor throughout my villa. I continued to walk through the villa - I promise it hadn't been updated since at least 1960's. The kitchenette area had a short fridge/icebox (I 'm 5'5" and it was shorter than me), and a two seater table w/two chairs. I made it to the bathroom, when I noticed I could hear a conversation coming from the villa next door! They were fussing because there were no towels or wash clothes. Then I looked into my bathroom and there was mold on the floor and in the shower. And no towels or wash clothe for me either. No soap. No nothing. I walked back toward the front of the villa, when I noticed the large roach looking bug laying dead beside the bed. My sister later said it may have been a Palmetto, but I've never seen one so to me it looked like a giant roach. I texted my sister who was also having her own "issues". Something about non working a/c and water on the floor. I told her to meet me back in the lobby, we were leaving.
We left Krystal, but some of our group decided to stay and "tough it out". Ironically, on the wall in the lobby were televisions advertising all the Krystal locations, the rooms and different amenities. Puerto Vallarta was one of them shown. Those rooms looked nothing like what they gave us. Where were these rooms??? After some of us left, come to find out Krystal did indeed have a newer more modern tower next door. The people who'd decided to stay practically had to beg to get these nicer rooms. Some of them still didn't.
Our transportation back to the airport was leaving from here the next morning, so we all met up in the lobby. While we waited for our transportation, I noticed the many large groups of Mexican tourists also waiting on their transportation buses. I guess they were staying in the new tower because the only people I saw the day before, were families with kids and possibly some locals. I never saw these other groups of people until now. I was part of a fairly large group of African American tourists from the US. I'm not saying we were discriminated against, but we certainly weren't treated with respect. I will NOT be returning.
Worst service for a Resort Hotel
Jul 16, 2022
Hotel service needs a lot from the time you check in to the time you are at the hotel resort. People are not welcoming or friendly. Our room had roaches, the type of room they call “De lujo vista al mar” is just a regular room nothing fancy nothing more. Not worth the money.
