Many things they need to improve on...

Let me start by saying we travel extensively and are fair to all accommodations. There are good and bad in all. This trip was mainly for the purpose of scuba diving in and around Bayahibe. This resort was less than the Iberostar next door where we were diving from with Dressel Divers (Excellent dive shop). We went into it with lower expectations but I was a bit surprised. The buffet didn't have a lot of selection but it was food, nothing great but mostly edible. Of the 7 mornings, only once did we go and there was a clean table and that was because we were first in line. They opened late compared to all other locations we've been. There were a few times when they had no clean plates for quite a while and we had to wait each morning for clean cutlery to be delivered to our table. The staff seemed to be working hard but there was just not enough of them. Our travel agent had asked for high room, king bed, quiet. We got none, bottom floor, 2 queen beds (not a deal breaker) but right beside the disco. Could not have gotten louder. We immediately went to the front desk and Paulo (?) was great on moving us to a 2nd floor room (still with 2 queen beds) and seemed quieter at first but they have a lot of geese, swans and ducks that screech all through the night and day. It doesn't really seem like there are any rooms there that have quiet times. Bars/Shops: The service at the bars were good but the coffee shop has extremely slow service and the cups are super small. The a la carte restaurants: We ate at Atlantis, La Roca, Fusion 25 and Il Palco. While the presentation and service was fantastic at all locations, the food was overcooked and chewy (even the barely charred tuna). Except for Il Palco - This place was absolutely the best restaurant. Service, presentation and FOOD were all amazing. Overall, it's a decent location with a good beach but I would definitely pay the extra and stay next door at the Iberostar. As we were diving out of that resort, we were at that resort every day and could see the condition of their beach chairs, the entertainment staff and the higher quality of their food. All in all, it seemed like a much better option

Been coming over 15 years because of the old General Manager

Aren A on Apr 23, 2024

I've been coming to this hotel for over 15 years..The reason I've been coming here over and over again is because of the hotel's previous General Manager (Antonio Cardenas) He has been very accommodating to my and may family for years, and has always treated us and his employees with respect.

Hotel is tired and needs updating.

For a all inclusive hotel it is very disappointing. You can't get a coffee or a cup of tea before 07.00. Can't get a alcoholic drink before 10.00, all bars are greatly understaffed so you have to wait a long time for a drink when they do open. Can't get alcoholic drink in main lobby until 18.00. Mini bar in the room is stocked with water, 1 small bottle of coke and 1 small bottle of sprite. Water is replenished, coke and sprite are not. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room, rooms are very dated, our shower handle fell off and shower water takes forever to drain away. Food is good quality with plenty of places to eat. Hotel is predominantly Italians who are extremely rude but staff cater for them more than other guests. We have stayed at RUI hotels a lot in the Caribbean and we heard Wyndham hotels are better, sadly this is not the case. When your travelling 8 to 10 hours and paying a lot of money you expect better. RUI have problems but they absolutely trump this hotel. The staff are very hard working but speak very little English. Need to learn Spanish or Italian to communicate. Pools are often full of tree, plant debris and never seem to get cleaned out and never seen anybody checking water quality. Beach is beautiful, but extremely busy. Wyndham Palace visitors can use all facilities apart from VIP areas but Wyndham Beach visitors have to pay extra to use ala carte restaurants.

La Trattoria ??

Patrickharm78 on Apr 19, 2024

The best restaurant in the entire complex is La Trattoria. We were there every day to eat pizza and pasta ?? Very nice and attentive employees. Individual requests regarding the pizza are taken into account. If we could, we would like to give it 6 stars for Federico and Team. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

Great beach but service at the hotel not good

Julia G on Apr 11, 2024

Spend a week with a friend at the end of March. Weather was great, beach is fantastic, clean water. No problem to find chairs on the beach. Food, service and drinks could be better for the money I paid $2150 for a week stay per person. Staff not speaking English. If you don’t speak Spanish they will walk away. Buffet is small and not much of food variety. If you come 30-40 min after the opening you will find empty plates and no food. Not all food items marked with names. At the bar there was no good quality liquor unless you are VIP, super VIP or member. Not enough personal on the property. Rooms older but clean. No waiters service at the beach you need to walk to the bar yourself if you want a drink. We went to the Beach part and their buffet is much better, so we were eating there most of the time. Restaurants are easy to book and food is okay. If you like smaller resort and less walking it would be great place for a vacation. Entertainment team is great always something by the pool.
