Great Family Vacay!!

tlpar (Woodbridge, Canada) on May 24, 2024

This may be a long but I want to be as honest as possible and not miss anything information. We were family of 5 (My husband, 2 kids and my mom) . From the moment we arrived to the resort, we knew we choose the right one. The feeling/atmosphere of the resort is calm and relaxing. Check in was quick. We got 2 rooms. One with 2 doubles, and the other with a king size and pull out bed. When we got to our rooms, we realized there was a mix up, and they fixed it immediately. Rooms - we requested to be in building 7 because its close to the beach/pool and the pick up area is also right there. Our rooms were clean with a working AC. We requested extra towels, and got them within an hour. The water pressure from the shower is weak. The fridge worked in our room but not in my moms. If you open the sliding door, make sure you lock it, if you dont the AC will shut off. Your key is on your bracelet. Beach/pool - the beach is cleaned in the morning to get rid of any seaweed. We took a walk a long the beach and noticed that this resort had the nicest beach. Like always, there are many vendors on the beach. If you dont want to be bothered, just ignore them. The items that they are selling are over priced. You can try and bargain. Cafe Del Mar was the closet beach bar, but there are waitresses coming around taking orders. There are plenty of loungers on the beach. I would imagine during busier months, you would have to go early to reserve them. Same with the pool area; there are plenty of loungers but I would assume during busier months, they will be hard to get. The pool is clean however the water was not refreshing at all. It was warm. My husband thinks its because not enough fresh water being filtered through. Entertainment - the entertainment team works with during activities on the beach and by the pool. Around 3pm is when the activities began at the pool. The played games, had competitions, and an foam party. There were different things at night too. A magic show that was a bit boring, Michael Jackson show, white party which was a lot of fun and silent disco. The only thing the resort needs to work on is updating the app. A lot of activities and shows were not posted. They have a poster by pickup/drop off at the beach, and one lobby. Food/drinks- Typical resort food at buffets. Fresh eggs, crepes, waffles, pancakes, juice. We always went to the main buffet (at lobby) for breakfast but we once went to the one by the beach. That one was much smaller, less selection and gets crowded in buffet area. Lunch, we went to the food trucks. Chicken Caesar salad was good. I dont know what it is about the hamburgers but we did not like them. They tasted like hotdog meat. They had tacos once. Wish they had them more. We also went to the 24/hr sports bar for lunch and the food was good. We went to Focaccia twice because its impossible to get reservations at certain restaurants. The first time we went, we had pizza and the second night, we all got pasta. No We at all. The teppanyaki restaurant was really good. Very entertaining and loud! Samsara (Indian restaurant ) was one of our favourites. We loved the decor and atmosphere. Food was also really good. Just dont get the baklava for dessert. The Mexican was our least favourite. Food was very salty. We manage to get into the Steak house. Appetizers were really good. My kids both got the grilled beef. It was not editable. Very chewy. We got the filet mignon and it was really good, so we ended up getting that for them too. When asked how you like your meat cooked, just say well done because I dont know if they know the difference between medium and well done. Drinks were good, especially the Caribbean beach cocktail and chocolate martinis. Not watered down at all. Kinda wished the lobby bar made cold coffees. They only place to get them is at the Cappuccino cafe. We went a fewt imes. Crepes and coffees are really good. There are many different species of birds on the ground, especially peacocks. Peacocks are not intimidating. They are used to the people around. The carts come around often to take you where you want to go; however there were certain times during the day where they get full fast and you might have to wait for few to come by before getting on. Especially at the when everyone is leaving. Overall, we had a great time here. Absolutely no complaints. Its a great family resort, or if you're going with friends.

Not what I was expecting - 3* for me

Claudia C on May 24, 2024

For me this hotel was far from a 4* as rated by other guests. The door of the room had a big gap under (not only our room) which allows mosquitos to get in at night, very unpleasant. The food was not good, except the pasta. I would highly recommend to only eat at the lobby buffet for more options in the morning and lunch and reserve a restaurant at night. On this reservation subject, better be ready at 3PM the day before to book a restaurant otherwise there is a good chance you wont have a spot.. happened to us twice and we were extremely disapointed with the diner at the buffet. The beach is the big positive of this hotel, one of the most beautiful beach we have seen. White sand, blue water, they take really good care of it. Only comment I would say is that a lot of chairs were broken on the beach. Another negative aspect of the resort is the transportation system. Getting from the beach to the lobby is about 15min walk in very hot water, or you take a little train but there is always a long line of people waiting and you don't get in the first train. This was one of the pain point of our week. I would say overall, I would not recommend if you are looking for good food and relaxing stay. This is a place for average food, good beach and party. It all depends on what you are looking for.
