Impressive in so many ways…

We are frequent travelers to Punta Cana and we usually to go the same resort over and over, but this time we wanted to try something different. We were a bit apprehensive about our trip, but our fears were quickly put to rest as the resort does indeed deliver an “IMPRESSIVE” experience. Upon arrival we were quickly identified and whisked to the Impressive Premium check-in section: Air-conditioned area, drinks, personalized services. Those incredible employees delivered the quickest check-in in all the years we have been traveling to Punta Cana. Thank you to Madelin who welcomed us with professionalism and warmth. We also would like to underline the assistance we received at customer service during our stay. Thank you to Diogenes & all others. At this point, we met our Majordomo, Guensly, who immediately explained that he would take care of all our needs during our stay. Guensly, we would like to underline your polished skills. He gives brief and to the point information. We really appreciated your excellent service each time we required your assistance. During Guensly’s absence, Wilbher took over. He attended to our need promptly and with professionalism. Thank you! Thank you to Malvin who took us to our 3rd floor Pool view Room to many employees making sure all was perfect. A beautiful bathroom with double sinks and double shower along with bathrobe and slippers. A great main room with a queen size bed and ample storage, a KCUP coffee machine and fridge already containing a bottle of Champagne, soft drinks, water and of course CERVEZAS. Special thank you to Clavel, Wilbher, Denisa, Anacristina and all the others for the excellent room service and towel-flower arrangements. Beautiful and appreciated! What a warm welcome we had at the air-conditioned PREMIUM BUFFET. Thank you to our SEGUNDO FAMILA, Arelis, Dilenia, Angelica, Solanyi and all others. We really appreciated your special attention brought to our very good friend Juan for his birthday and making his day a day to remember. The GRILL RESTAURANT is a great steak house located close to the beach with a soothing breeze coming in from the sea. We had great service by Daniel and Ruben. Thank you. The entrée table is full of goodies with the best fried chicken (better than KFC) WOW! We tried many choices, and we were not disappointed: Steak, Hamburger and steak filet were all delicious. All the employees are very nice. Thank you to Jacquelin, Wilvis and the hostess, Francy & Carmen. We cannot forget the chefs, Garcia & Quinto who cook food to perfection! While eating at this great restaurant we were entertained by 2 excellent musicians, Marcial & Bioris. Right beside the OLIVE TREE SEA FOOD RETAURANT, we first had a drink at the JADE BAR where we were greeted with a wonderful smile. Thank you, Joanna. Then we received excellent service with Ismael. We had the seafood casserole and the fish filet. Delicious! Thank you to Biojanny, hostess, at the YAKIMESHI JAPANESE RESTAURANT who greeted us with courtesy and a beautiful smile. We must underline the entertaining service of CHEF GREEN. He is funny and keeps you smiling while cooking on a large grill. At the ALEBRIJE MEXICAN RESTAURANT we received impeccable service. Thank you, Reinaldo, for your professionalism and the flower arrangement on our table. WE MET SOMEONE SPECIAL: We believe that a resorts success is the business and sum of all the employees. This is why we would like to underline Julio, a very sympathetic man who keeps the environment clean. Thank you for your work! ITALIAN RESTAURANT VILLAMAGNA Thank you to Carlos. Great morning espresso, cappuccino and some pastries served with a smile at the coffee shop right next to the Theater. Special thanks to Virginia. The employees at the AMBER LOBBY BAR are fabulous! In a good mood, they serve you with a smile. Thank you to Inocencia, Maribel, Jeanel, Nilcalis, Bernardo, Welinto and all others. If you ever take your vacation at this resort, you will NEVER be able to say you were bored by the nighttime entertainment. The shows at the THEATER are great (Queen tribute, Magic Show, Caribbean Night, Circus, Roller skate entertainer) and they are immediately followed by live music shows on a smaller stage close to the main lobby. At the PREMIUM POOL/BAR, we got excellent service with barman Jose, Cruz and Wanda. We cannot forget Ice cube for his great entertainment skills. We also had a great foam party in the pool with great music! We saw a fabulous show with MR. NOBODY, an amazing painter who paints upside down, then turns the paintings around when you realize it is Elvis Presly, Bob Marley, The Joker, Frank Sinatra and others. (You can buy is paintings) What an amazing talent! We also had a great side pool show with NELSON JONATHAN VARGAS who juggles with glasses and bottles and serves a great coconut cocktail. We were welcomed with warmth and smiles at the Main Buffet. Thank you, Claribel and Aurelia. Once at our table, we received excellent service with “Bonito” Mikeas & Jazmin. CONCLUSION We highly recommend purchasing the PREMIUM side of the resort. We were blessed with great weather, of course an August trip to Punta Cana means lots of sunshine, heat, humidity, and short cooling showers.
I have serious HEALTH AND SAFETY CONCERNS about this hotel.

Please, before you spend your hard earned money on a holiday to this hotel, think twice before doing so, take the negative reviews left by guests seriously. We had booked premium and after reading a lot of great reviews we were very excited about staying here. From the moment we stepped foot into this hotel it was not a good experience. Check in took well over an hour. We had to wait a long time to be seen by a receptionist who was frosty and not particularly welcoming, and during the check-in process 2 separate guests came storming in to complain about numerous issues. One of the complaints was a damp room. The receptionist left us to deal with these complaints, which massively delayed our check in process. We had originally booked a tropical view room, however she said she would upgrade us to a pool view room which we were happy about. We then got taken to our room by our butler, Guensly. The room was not what we expected at all….. it was damp, dusty and smelt musty. The view was of a dirty roof, if you craned your neck around the balcony you could just about see the edge of the pool. I instantly spoke to our butler and said we’re not happy with this room. We want the room we originally booked. He muttered it’s got nothing to do with him and we would have to speak to reception ourselves. I rang reception and explained and then a while later our butler came to us and said the original room we booked wasn’t available so we would have to sleep in this room tonight and we can move the following day. The following morning I decided to go to reception and ask if we could possibly upgrade to a sea view room. They said there was a room available and it would be £700 extra for 2 weeks. She said in the afternoon our butler would take us to see the room we had originally booked and the sea view room, then we could decide between the two. The tropical view room was facing a construction site so we decided against that. He then showed us 2 sea view rooms. We decided on the second floor sea view room, we were happy to pay the extra £700 extra for the upgrade. Guensly took us back to our room to pack up and said the golf cart will be back to pick us up in 20 mins. 5 mins after arriving to our room to pack up I had numerous missed calls from him. I rang him back and he said the buggy is here to pick you up…. It had been 5 mins. I said we agreed 20 mins to give us time to pack. He didn’t understand and then proceeded to text and call over and over, causing unnecessary stress! Once we had packed up we were taken to our new room. We started to unpack and 20 mins or so I looked at my phone and had a message off the butler to say we couldn’t have this room as it had been pre booked! We had just spent the best part of 2 hours packing, moving and unpacking to then be told we couldn't have this room! I asked Guensly if I could speak to a manager as this was ridiculous. We then sat in reception for approx another 2 hours while they very unenthusiastically found us another room. The room was sea view but as soon as we walked in it felt damp and smelt musty but by this point in the process we were so fed up and my 6 year old was tired from all the hours of faffing, baring in mind this was the first day of the holiday and all he wanted to do was play in the pool, we agreed to move to this room. They agreed to reduce the upgrade fee to £400 for the inconvenience caused. I didn’t have it in me to argue we shouldn’t be paying at all, we were all so exhausted and wanted to start enjoying our holiday, we just agreed and moved to this room. We knew the room was damp, the sheets always felt damp and there was a musty smell but after viewing numerous rooms previously it seemed that a lot of the rooms in this hotel had a damp issue. It was only until we started to pack our bags to leave after 2 weeks we noticed a lot of our belongings had gone moldy and we then realised how serious the mold issue was! Bags had grown mold, a pair of my shoes were literally covered in thick mold…. Please see pictures. It was absolutely disgusting. THIS IS A SERIOUS HEALTH AND SAFETY CONCERN. Guests should not be put into damp moldy rooms, it’s dangerous and I’m very concerned that my family including my 6 year old son has spent 2 weeks sleeping in a room like this. As soon as I discovered the mold issue I voiced my concerns to Willy a manager, who said he will speak to his manager. I made it clear that we would not be paying the upgrade fee for the room, which they agreed to. As I've said previously we were aware the room was damp, we put it down to a hot humid country during the hurricane season and having viewing other rooms with the same issue we just accepted it. However, we had no idea how bad the issue was until we saw various items of our belongings covered in mold. This is a serious health and safety concern and paying guests including a 6 year old should not be put in this situation! Unfortunately this was not our only issue . A necklace went missing from our room. Yes, we had a safe which all other valuables were put in, however we mistakenly left it out on the side and realised it wasn’t there anymore. We reported it to our butler who then opened an investigation into it. Part of the investigation is where they send a security guard over to the room to search the room to see if the necklace we had reported missing was in the room...... they obviously couldn’t find it so we were then asked to fill out paperwork and they would continue the investigation. We knew the necklace had gone and there was no chance of getting it back, and yes we should have put it in the safe but then again when you pay a lot of money for a holiday you should feel that your belongings are safe. A few days later we got a message from our butler to say he will speak to us about the findings of investigation. Our butler approached my husband who was swimming with my son in the pool, he lent over the side with papers in his hand and said that there had been CCTV footage of him wearing the necklace the day after we had said it had gone missing! We argued and said this can’t be! The picture must have been taken before it went missing. We aren’t lying! As you could imagine we were livid. We were being accused of lying. Not only that it was the fact that Guensly thought it was appropriate to discuss this while my husband was in the pool. At least have the decently to ask him to dry off and meet in reception to discuss this. We demanded to speak to a manager. We then spoke to Willy (one of the many managers) to explain the situation. His comeback was that the butler had read the paragraph of the report incorrectly and got dates mixed up…. Whether or not this is true, who knows but the crux of the matter is a necklace went missing from our room, we reported it and the way it was dealt with was awful and extremely unprofessional and caused a lot of stress and upset. The overall experience of the hotel regardless of the above issues we encountered were NOT good. The food was pretty awful. Numerous times during dinner they forgot my son’s meal, which resulted in us having to chase and chase and chase for it. One evening we paid extra to eat on the pier and it was a disaster. It took 1.5 hours to get our mains and then they forgot my sons.,,,we had to wait another 20 mins to get the chicken and chips he ordered which was stone cold and rock hard by the time it came, we left the meal and had to take him to eat in the main buffet as it was the only place open that we didn't need a reservation. Many of the staff members were rude, and this included premium reception staff and some managers we dealt with. My overall feeling is that they just don’t care about issues that arise, they don’t take complaints seriously and my gut is when issues do arise they don’t learn from these mistakes to improve on the overall running of the hotel. Within the chaos of the holiday we did come across some lovely staff members that put a smile on our faces. The staff in the premium section of the open sea food buffet were lovely, service was impeccable and they always had a smile on their faces (Mikas and I can't remember the other ladies names, but thank you for being lovely). The guy driving around on the golf buggy ( Julian I think) always made us laugh, especially my son. Thank you to Ice cube. A lovely, hardworking guy always with a smile on his face. The hotel grounds are run down in places, pools need maintenance and the beach isn't the cleanest. Our room view looked out onto a pile of rubbish on the beach… please see pic. Unfortunately we have never had such a bad experience in a hotel before. We have come away feeling more stressed and exhausted than when we arrived. It was by no means a cheap holiday and to have this negative experience is unacceptable and highly disappointing. The damp, moldy rooms are a serious health and safety concern and I would like to hope management takes this issue seriously and puts a stop to allowing guests to stay in rooms like this. I will be logging a formal complaint to the hotel about this matter. My advice to anybody who may be thinking of booking a holiday to this hotel is to please think very carefully before doing so.
Don't waste your money on premium!

We enjoyed our stay in Impressive Punta Cana, and we pay for the premium service. The resort was beautiful, the rooms are clean, we were a group of 14. The resort is fun, lots of great entertainments . However, the premium service is not worth it. The resort does have a premium lounge/restaurant, which they just transport food from their International cafe to that area. We honestly preferred the international cafe has it had a bigger selection, and the food was not tasty at all. The food was eatable, but not delicious. With premium service, you get assigned a butler. Wen had Merlin, a very nice guy, even though he wasn't helpful when trying to get us a diner reservation in the speciality restaurant. We stayed at the resort for 5 days, and we can only have the specialty restaurant reservation on 1 night only (the Japanese place which had good food). We got tired of eating at the tasteless buffet everyday. We were disappointed because we couldn't get restaurant reservations. Other than that the overall experience was good. The kids enjoyed themselves

Entertainment during the day at the premium pool is fantastic, the two members of staff that were by far the best was a lady called Raysa and a young man called Ice Cube. He was brilliant, by far the best and always made us feel welcome and involved. A top guy that is fantastic with guests, funny and works his heart out in extreme heat all day and night.
