Hope I never see them again!

We spent a lot of money on this holiday to celebrate our anniversary. The check in was unwelcoming and hostile, he could see on his screen that it was a special holiday for us and instead of offering us something small he suggested I should pay extra to upgrade to ‘premium’ for a lot more money. We didn’t. The room had no view, was dirty and the bathroom was mouldy, we asked to change and once again reception were hostile. I didn’t like the attitude of the golf buggy driver who brought us to the room so immediately we were off to a bad start. It got worse! We booked the themed restaurants which were all disappointing, I asked for a well done burger in On the Grill and it was raw ?? The exception was Tapas which was welcoming on the first time. The main buffet restaurant was unwelcoming and staff were unhelpful. I didn’t like the staff in the bars. The drinks were cheap alternatives and not up to scratch, the beer was disgusting. I didn’t like the entertainment dancers! At night people could relax and enjoyed it better when they weren’t there at all. The check out was ungrateful and dismissive and the crowd of staff at the front door were intimidating and unhelpful. Overall this hotel in particular and Dominican Republic was a huge disappointment!
Great vacation.

Excellent location and service throughout. Magna is great and Oregano was great. Our check out experience was amazing due to Andrely bell boys. We would come back.
Outstanding Entertainment Team

A vibrant and dedicated group that brings energy and joy to every moment. Chocolate stands out as the best entertainment, consistently uplifting others. Their engaging games and lively aerobics sessions keep everyone active, smiling, and involved.

At first glance, the hotel and grounds are beautiful with really well kept gardens that are stunning. Then you look closer. Two of the swimming pools were filthy and I don't just mean from fallen leaves. The family pool is so bad that the water for half of the week didn't even reach the filters; this is incredibly unsafe. The premium pool is a lot better. I relied on my poor Spanish skills from DuoLingo and AI to get by as the majority of staff do not speak English. Ah, the food. We had one really good meal at On the Grill. The majority of the meals were either lukewarm or absolutely stone cold. Room service was better (The chicken wraps have a really spicy mayo with them and the burger was good); however, trying to figure out which option to pick on the App resulted in some rather strange choices. I would order the same thing each day and each day got a different order. Asking for soya milk for the coffee came in a BOWL, not a jug! WTH? The Japanese meal was very disappointing. Not only did it feel rushed but was incredibly salty and I couldn't eat it. Day 3 was spent in bed having reached out for the imodium. Day 5/Night 4 was worse for my niece whose body decided to reject the food at both ends; thank goodness I'd packed electrolytes too. Accommodation: We were supposedly having a junior suite with jacuzzi in the premium section which was meant to have two double beds: it didn't, it had one large bed and one tiny single bed. After arriving late from the UK, I really couldn't be bothered to ask to change rooms. Oh well, I'll cozy down in my slippers and robe ... except there were none in the room and our butler sorted it. In fact, our butler was absolutely wonderful. The jacuzzi took over an hour to fill and the jets weren't very powerful. We were in Room 21110, Block 21. The location was pretty good. We didn't hear any construction noise. Asking for a pool towel at the hut on the first day resulted in an approximate 45 minute wait. The beach is stunning. No trouble getting a lounger at the beach or any of the pools. The hydrotherapy circuit at the spa looked pretty but the pool with the jets was freezing cold with only the smaller pool being warm, not hot. The 80 minute deep tissue massage by Martha was to die for (USD169) and I did enjoy that. I got bitten alive by some bugs, not mossies, but some small bugs. Savlon insect cream to the rescue! The iced coffee from the coffee shop near the theatre was divine; shame I only discovered it on the last day. The cocktails, such as Pina Colado, are pre-mixed which I detest. I couldn't even get an Expresso Martini. Never mind, I survived on G&Ts. There's so much that could be done to improve this resort, such as little things like steak knives, improving the App, employing more English speakers, correct crockery, benches along the paths so us older plebs can actually have a break on the way to whatever bar/venue you're heading to. Would I return? Absolutely not. It was bad enough that my holiday to Cuba was cancelled but honestly, I've had better food there. I've travelled extensively around the world and I'm well aware food isn't so hot in other countries as in the UK but that's no excuse for overcooked chips, meat full of gristle, etc. I don't have exceptionally high standards but the food really does let this resort down.
