Very enjoyable stay and experience, plus a few tips

G0ldenTraveler (Louisville, Kentucky) on Sep 02, 2024

Great resort experience with friendly staff, beautiful property, delicious food and nice pool options. We stayed in a Castle Ocean-View Junior Suite for six nights. We were very pleased with everything about the resort and would definitely recommend it to others. Because it was the off-season, the resort was only 30% occupied, which was a very nice treat. There was no waits at the restaurants and plenty of pool and beach chairs available, always. The staff, property and food stand out as top highlights. Every single staff member was friendly and helpful. The resort grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The food at all of the restaurants was delicious and a broad variety of options. The hibachi restaurant was closed due to construction. The main pool was the most active area, with daily fitness activities, live music and the swim up bar. Our favorite were the cabana beds that were available for anyone to use without a reservation or cost. If you can get one on the ocean-side of the pool, the breeze will help keep you cooler. The pool at the Castle had a very relaxing, spa-like vibe to it. We would often use it late in the afternoon to relax before getting cleaned up for dinner. The beach area is very small and not a particular highlight for this resort. Plus, due to the season, the seaweed containment made it less attractive. However, both of these natural issues were known to us and did not impact our experience. It may have been our most sand-free beach vacation, yet. One feature I did not understand well before the trip was Sanctuary Town, a micro-village of small restaurants and bars. It is actually within the resort and a key part of the resort options. It’s a courtyard like setting for outdoor dining at small food venues. All except one of them are part of the resort’s all-inclusive package. The sushi and pizza places were very good. Overall, this resort was a top experience for us and exactly the kind of vacation that we were looking for - beautiful, simple and relaxing.

Just book it.

This was one of our top 3 resorts we have ever stayed at. The food - the pools - the spa - the staff are all just incredible. They have details down and make sure everyone is happy and cared for. We got to know the staff personally as it was a quieter week for them at the resort and they are all wonderful individuals and just great to get to know them. Anything we needed was a call or text away. I have not been treated as well as I was there. Carlos - you deserve way more rave reviews for your work.. Katie and so many other staff .. just wow. PS - if you fly into Punta Cana airport- pay for the VIP service. It is worth it. Just another layer of less stress and helps make the whole trip so less stressful.

Birthday Vacation

carmine g on Aug 29, 2024

I went with my girlfriend and we stayed in the junior suite ocean view castle. The room and views were exceptional. We really enjoyed the whole layout of the resort which gives you a town feel to roam around with “Sanctuary town”. We also enjoyed how the resort was not over packed (maybe a seasonal thing), nonetheless we felt extremely comfortable and had privacy everywhere we went. The service was exceptional across the board. There were a few employees who really went the extra mile and stood out to us. JT was our butler and he was so accommodating - he served as our go to contact for any questions or help with making reservations for dinner and excursions. He would answer our messages immediately and always filled us in for the daily activities on the resort. We went for my Birthday and JT made it feel that way - providing balloons and a card waiting in our room. We hardly requested much of him because he would already take the initiative and make us feel as comfortable as possible before we could ask. Cristian was a server who would attend to us near the pool and beach areas. He was diligent, attentive & timely. Also just a really good guy who enjoyed doing what he did with a smile on his face. Brillis was working the cafe and she was so nice and accommodating. We would see her each morning and engage in great conversation - what a way to start the day. Yaison provided us exceptional room service - he was extremely polite and timely. Narane was our waiter for breakfast at Casa Bella and he was exceptional - extremely nice and would engage us each morning with friendly conversation and excellent service. Dario was our waiter at Carpiccio and he was as professional as they come - excellent service and extremely polite. We would also like to mention how much we enjoyed the live sessions duo Latino on Monday night where everyone was dancing and enjoying themselves. I apologize if I spelled anyones name incorrectly. All in all this was an amazing trip and we will be coming back.

Beware of Stingrays

Go Myung C on Aug 28, 2024

I am unhappy of the stay at Sanctuary Cap Cana because an incident happened which could have been avoided if the hotel properly mentioned it; the risk of possible stingray attacks in the water that was enclosed for the hotel guests. I and my boyfriend flew to Sanctuary Cap Cana on 8/17/24 for 9 days. On the morning of day 2 of my vacation, we went to the beach and I got stung by a stingray on my foot badly while walking out of the ocean. I ended up in the ER 30minutes drive away from the hotel and admitted for an overnight stay. On the beach, the life guard and my boyfriend helped me get to the medic at the hotel and the nurse proceeded with a tourniquet procedure by tying a rubber glove around my leg. Then I had to go to the hospital in a cab. I thought I was dying in the cab due to the pain. I got three stitches and lots of medications at the hospital. I was discharged and came back to the hotel the following day. The visit to ER in Punta Cana cost me more than $8000 USD. The hotel staff promised to pay me back the medical expenses that occur in house which was around $475.12. However, they made me sign the waiver form and waived $400 which I was supposed to pay for my spa treatment in exchange and they failed to pay back the remaining balance $75.12. The whole experience was gruesome and this could have been avoided if there was a single sign alerting of possible risk at the beach.

An incredible resort, highly recommend!!

Kevin S (Tuscaloosa, Alabama) on Aug 26, 2024

The resort was immaculate and incredibly large, it's moreso a small community or town as opposed to a singular hotel. The icing on the cake was our incredibly accommodating and professional butler Camacho, he was a Godsend! I hope Camacho is there when we return!
