I read most of the reviews here for VIK Hotel Arena Blanco. I was prepared. Day 1 - I realized the poor reviews were not accurate at all. Day 2-7 - same! The room was great, no issues with hot water wifi strong! Pool and beach clean and gorgeous! The food was great - many options to choose from at the buffet. Always fresh fruit and fresh items available plus chefs creating dishes as you watched. All were amazing! The drinks were great! No complaints! The staff were so friendly, helpful and spoke English just fine! A special shout out to our omelette chef, Leonardo! ?? Manager of the Italian resto Pasquale! ???? Our favourite bartender Pedro! And event staff Winston (Spaghetti) ??
We had a fantastic time! Can’t say enough good things about this resort!

Don’t book . Food is terrible. Hotel staff is very rude.
We stayed with family for 6 days. They said they have 3 restaurants on site. But had only 1.menu is the same every other day , same food. Really bad . No activities like other places
Perfect place to relax and unwind.

I just returned after almost 2 week solo trip at the resort. The resort is old but well maintained and very clean. The food and rooms were average, nothing fancy but met all the needs. The first few days were slow due to rain and not knowing anyone. But the staff is extremely friendly and always with a smile. The resort has limited wifi and perfect reason to not be glued to the phone. It also forces us to meet other people and get to know everyone (if that's your thing), or relax on your own as the beach is spectacular. I enjoyed the fact that most of the people were from Germany, Canada, Eastern Europe and South America, If you are looking for a party place or bunch of americans to hangout with, this might not be the place. The resort is not at capacity due to travel issues with Russians and Ukraine, which was the primary customer at this location. There are limited daily activities (gasolino is the life of the resort and hosts most of the activities) and the bar closes at midnight... Overall, I had an excellent trip and enjoyed meeting some very wonderful people who work there and travelers.
Maybe a 3 start could be a 5

My family of 8 we came for our 40th anniversary. Beach, food, and people are amazing. Hotel is falling apart. Pool is falling apart, concrete missing everywhere, railings missing pieces. our room faces the ocean, and I can’t open the sliding door, so heavy only my husband can. No phones in the room. Walls are paper thin can hear all the neighbours. Especially all the kids at 5 am. No bank on site so don’t bring Dominican money. NO ONE can change it for you. It’s pretty hard to tip anyone unless you can get smaller bills. This resort doesn’t care if you leave a tip because they won’t exchange money or even USD they will only give you large bills. Staff are afraid to exchange. With a little TLC and a bank more variety of food this place could be a 5 star. We made the best of it. Didn’t complain about anything except the money. I hate not leaving tip. So I gave daily tips . Women at front desk that controls the money needs to be fired.

Was here for 7 days in March/April for the 8th time. This is by no means a large or fancy resort but all the basics are there. Masks were required to enter the dining areas. Covid testing was available on site for anyone that needed it to fly. Was $12 which I thought was reasonable. Appointments required, results emailed within 30 minutes.
Check in was quick and easy and we were in our room by 1.30pm. Rooms are clean and bright with a nice balcony and a small area for hanging damp bathing suits and towels. Our room was cleaned and towels restocked every day by 9am! Hot water or lack of it as always was an issue but if you showered in the am or after 6.30pm it was better! We did get washclothes but I always take my own in case.
Leonardo in the buffet restaurant doing the eggs is awesome! Always happy and smiling, a great asset to the resort. There was always a good selection of food available. Chinese and Pasta stations if nothing else on the buffet appealed.
Staff in the restaurant were friendly and prompt with drinks etc. Bit different to last time I was there in 2020 when it was all self serve.
Walked miles on the beach and could see how hard the staff worked to clear the seaweed at the resort.
Nightly entertainment was hit and miss and not as good as it was pre covid.
Overall no complaints. For what we paid it was a great deal. Nothing fancy but we go to relax and not for fancy food or drinks! Not a party hotel by any means but safe and quiet and small.
