Good experience

Booked with WestJet vacations. Landed in cancun and had to wait some time for the shuttle, over an hour which was not ideal. It’s about a 90 min drive to hotel as well. Also came with $1500 in resort dollars which are just coupons adding up to $1500. We didn’t use any of it. When we arrived, check in was easy. They offered an upgrade but only had double beds. They were able to move us the second night to a king bed. They had key card issues for three days which was annoying and we always had to get staff to come open our room or go get our room rekeyed everyday from Saturday to Wednesday and if we forgot we had to walk all the way back. It was understandably out of their control but very frustrating it went on for so long. The hotel is campus style and you have access to all three. Account for decent amount of walking. Colonial was in the middle so easy access to all sides. all staff was very nice and always said hello. Felt safe, even when we were off resort. Room: was good and looked like the pictures. Shower was hot with good pressure. King bed was nice but very uneven. Room cleaning was as expected. Wifi: pretty good. Decent access at pool and room was good. Able to watch Netflix. Pools: Pools were great. Liked the pool at white sands the best. Lots of activities if you are into that, yoga, fitness classes. The colonial pool was much more crowded and Lots of families there. Didn’t have to rush to get a spot in the morning, lots of room. The adult pool was small and quiet but filled up quickly. Night activities: shows on most nights. Everyone would gather in lobby to play cards or party. Silent disco was shockingly fun. Lots of shops in the lobbies as well. Buffet restaurant: classic all inclusive food. Breakfast was my fave. Lunch was hit or miss. Avoid the beach snack restaurant, it was not as expected and not good. Al le carte: classic all inclusive. Had a lot of options and we didn’t get to all of them in 7 days. Easy to book reservations on app. Best was the Japanese one, if you get a chance do the tapanaki table. The posiden restaurant had really beautiful views on the beach, food was fine.
Beautiful Resort, but a little too 'kid friendly'

We are Travel Club Members with Grand Palladium, and while their properties are all stunningly beautiful, they have become more family oriented throughout the last 5 years. I love children, but I also enjoy my vacation away from them too. There used to be many places were we could go to have a quiet meal (selected A-La-Cart restaurant nights for adults only) for example that are no longer an option. They do however, have 2 small Adult Only pools to go to, however, one of them is located fairly close to the family pool. lol I cannot say enough about how great the staff are at this resort. They are all very friendly and go out of thier way to ensure you have a nice stay. Special mention goes out to Daniel, Leonardas, and Juan at the Colonial Lobby Bar, and Zacharias at Poseiden. The food is really good and we found the food to be a little better, and with more variety in the White Sands property (which is included if you stay at Colonial). All of the A-LA-Carte restaurants were exceptional, but we really enjoyed the Brazilian Restaurant the most and ate there 4 nights out of 2 week stay! What makes this resort charming is all the little critters that you will see walking around the resort, from iguanas, coati, cats, racoons, Agouti, and if you are really lucky, you might even spot a spider monkey! The beaches do have some seaweed on the shores, but that is to be expected, especially if it's windy out. The staff do thier best to keep it to a minimum. We did not swim much in the ocean this trip as it was windy every day with high waves so we opted to swim in the pools. I cannot comment on the beach much aside from that. We never rushed to save chairs by the pool and always found chairs under a palapa with no issue. We usually went after the gym and breakfast and there was still plenty of chairs available. No issues getting fresh towels at any time during our stay either. The rooms are nice, and there is a large variety of rooms to choose from when booking. Our rooms (Junior Suite) had a nice big balcony to sit and enjoy a morning coffee on. A large jacuzzi tub, a comfortable King sized bed, largeTV, and sitting area with pull out coach. There was plenty of hot water, mini fridge was always well stocked, and good A/C.
