First night and already very disappointed.

First night here and not a great start at all. Welcome to the hotel was very poor with me having to actually ask where we were meant to check in. That was definitely a first. No welcome drink after a very long journey and then to be greeted by a very off hand receptionist. Told we could only have a room with two double beds and would have to change tomorrow. This is not what I would expect at all when you know it’s a couple travelling. Basically told me it was my fault for not requesting a king size bed. Well you can’t request what you don’t know about. Not told where any of the amenities were or when we could get food after a long day travelling or a drink even. Given a QR code and pretty much told to get on with it and to ring 0 at 12 tomorrow and she would aim to change the room to one with a king size bed. 3 months after getting engaged this was meant to be a romantic trip, hopefully near the sea and pool but couldn’t be further. Paid to upgrade the room but wish I hadn’t bothered now. Not a good start to a much needed holiday and left a very sour feeling already ??

Loved my time at ocean maya royale! The staff, the facilities and food were all fab! Special shout out to the entertainment team, especially Moises! He made our holiday so memorable and always took time out of his day to connect with us learning about us, and also educating us on Mexican history and cultures. He is a real asset to the entertainment team at this hotel. Can’t wait to come back in the future 10/10.
