The Best Honeymoon at Secrets Akumal

My husband and I celebrated our honeymoon at Secrets Akumal and we had the best holiday of our lives! Everything was perfect from the moment we arrived. The rooms were very spacious and lovely, kept topped up with drinks and snacks each day with lovely facilities. Each hotel room building on the resort has a dedicated concierge who are so welcoming and happy to answer any questions, keeping in touch with you each day to send you the daily resort schedule. Huge thanks to Sergio who was our concierge for our stay! The activities included at the resort each day were fantastic - we highly recommend the sashimi class & wine tasting for the food based ones, and then the bike tour and kayak tour for the sporty ones (but make sure you turn up early to these as it is first come first served and they are very popular!). The salsa class and archery were also so much fun. Huge shoutout to the activities team - Rene, Abraham, Carlos, Gabriel, Isabella, thank you for helping make our holiday so memorable, we loved doing the activities and chatting with you every day. The food and drink selection was amazing. I am gluten free so this was important for us and the whole resort had things labelled and the waiters were really helpful and each restaurant had great options. Our favourite restaurant in the evening was Himitsu (Asian restaurant) - we went there four times during our stay! Daniel who served us on our first visit was super helpful. We also recommend booking the Teppenyaki experience at Himitsu, that was great! The breakfast buffet at Market Cafe was excellent with a lovely selection of savoury and sweet. Every morning we were greeted and served by Otoneil who went above and beyond to make sure we were looked after, we felt so welcomed and were very sad to say goodbye on our final breakfast! El Patio was also a great dinner restaurant serving a range of Mexican foods. The drinks and cocktails overall were fantastic too, nothing was too much to ask for. The range of evening entertainment was fantastic, we went almost every night. Our highlights were the Rock Show, Silent Discos, Delyria Cabaret style show and the Voice Akumal. Desires night club was also great where one evening we did Karaoke, it was so fun! I highly recommend going to these shows during your visit. Other evening bits included a Mexican market set up on the resort with lots of different vendors which was very fun to explore. All three pools were lovely, we only discovered the quiet pool towards the end of our stay and loved it so we definitely recommend trying this out! Osuna stood out in terms of his service and looking after us around the pool, thank you so much, as well as Miguel. Overall we had the best time and absolutely want to go back soon - thank you Secrets Akumal for making our holiday so special! We can't wait to come back.

This is my first review so go easy on me, I created an account to share my thoughts as I just got home from this trip. This resort was VERY nice on many levels (service, food, atmosphere). The staff was incredible and they treat the guests really well. Max, Carlos, Abraham, and Clara from the entertainment team were exceptional (everyone was, but those were the names of the staff whom I dealt with the most). I have 2 incidents which could have made the experience better, but I cannot say that these incidents should detract anybody from vacationing here, the place was amazing. Incident 1: the sales pitch was fairly aggressive. Was promised 60-90 mins max and we wasted 2.75 hrs (approx 165 minutes). Deals didn’t seem unreasonable (however I don’t know the fine print) however I had to say no to about 5 different people, all who were very keen on closing a deal (sales - I get it). Mostly just dissapointed with the lie of the time it would take, as I likely would not have partook and sacrifice almost half the sunny day. Incident 2: A swimsuit went missing from room. I’m sure this is not the norm and that guests are not being stolen from. I felt safe keeping valuables in the room, however it’s always an uneasy feeling when something goes missing from the room. Bottom line, the place is tremendous and the staff treat the guests so well. The food was truly phenomenal for an all inclusive (I’m from NY and quite picky when I travel to all-inclusives. I have only been to a handful of all-inclusives but this one takes the cake by far.) Secrets Akumal does a good job.
