Destination wedding, honeymoon, and hurricane- Would book again in a heartbeat!

My husband and I did a destination wedding here back in June with our friends and family. The wedding itself surpassed our wildest dreams and felt like we were in a fairytale. Sarahi (our wedding coordinator) and the wedding staff were extremely helpful and a pleasure to work with. Even when it was expected to rain during our outside wedding, Sarahi was quick and adaptive to ensure we still had the wedding of our dreams. Our wedding guests could not say enough of how much they enjoyed their stay here. We were blown away with not only how attentive the staff are but also how genuine they are in making sure we enjoy our stay. We can not praise the amazing staff enough! Rene hosted a sound therapy session on the beach during sunrise. He used a collection of traditional Mayan instruments as he guided us into a sunrise mediation. This was the perfect way to destress after wedding planning and a great way to feel refreshed. Metz was an absolute sweetheart! I loved her stretching class on the beach. Carla was so kind and always eager to help! Lil J was the life of the party. We loved seeming him on stage but loved getting to know him better! Our concierge Alondra was informative, quick, and attentive. However a standing ovation for my grandmother's concierge, Ledy. My grandmother experienced health concerns, resulting in her needing to go to the hospital. Ledy went above and beyond when taking care of my grandmother and showed genuine compassion. She stayed late when working and made sure my grandmother was as comfortable as possible. We also experienced a Cat 2 hurricane during our honeymoon. But again, thanks to the amazing staff we still had the best time. They have an enormous generator so we never lost power. Once the hurricane passed, the staff were immediately out early the next morning to clean up debris. They had pools and bars open the next day after the hurricane by noon. As a Florida native who frequently experiences hurricanes, this is nearly impossible to do. Businesses rarely operate the day after a massive storm. Secrets Akumal quite frankly had superior protocols after a hurricane than the hospitals I've worked at. Again, thanks to the super heroes that work here we had the wedding and honeymoon of a lifetime.

This was an amazing resort that felt like it was in the middle of a rain forest. The staff were friendly and the grounds were immaculate. We highl recommend.
