Excellent Experience

dmead2664 (Dana Point, California) on Sep 12, 2023

We greatly enjoyed ourselves, it's a beautiful resort close to the pier and restaurants. The roof top pool and bar is a nice touch. The sister hotel across the street is a welcome surprise. The grounds have many areas to sit back relax.

Awful service at a beautiful hotel

Chase R on Sep 09, 2023

Space is beautiful. Day 1: Woman checking us in at the front desk seemed distracted and scattered when talking to us. Gave her my card for the room and she put it in the wrong way then handed me the device to enter my pin. I asked her why the chip was not in and she laughed and said “oh you put the card in the wrong way”. I know this was a very small thing but it was just a weird way to stay the weekend. When we got to the room the A/C didn’t work for most of first day, it felt like warm air coming in and even when I finally got in touch (placed on hold indefinitely so I texted them) with front desk they never sent anyone to check out the unit. I went to the restaurant and asked if the items I was interested in could be made without dairy because I’m allergic. One of them was the garlic fries. She claimed to check with the chef and came back and confirmed. Halfway through eating the fries, I put a chunk of Parmesan out of my mouth. When I asked her about it she apologized but just stood there. She i had to ask that the item be removed from the check as if it wasn’t obvious. Even then they really didn’t seem to care. That evening we attempt to use the in room coffee machine only to discover it is leaking and the entire dresser counter and flood now is covered in water. I call the front desk. They try to put me on told again, I stop them and tell them about the leak. they say they will send someone. After a half hour I call again and ask to talk to a manager. She is the first nice person I encounter in the hotel. She sends someone up to clean and an engineer to swap the coffee machine as well as some water. The rest of the trip was fine because we were mostly out of the hotel. Asked for turndown service before we left for the afternoon on Saturday. Said we would be back in 4 hours. Front desk said sure thing. When we returned we saw they never came. Called again before leaving for the night, when we returned, we were happy to see that we received the turndown.
