Mediocre

Esther G (Portland, Oregon) on Feb 08, 2025

Calling this a resort is a bit of a stretch. It is across the street and down the stairs to the beach. It is also almost adjacent to the railroad! And for this you get a $49 a day resort charge (and since it is in California all sorts of taxes are added to the Resort Charge so its' real cost is closer to $60 per day). It is nice building but lacks a full service all day restaurant although there is one in their sister property, Seabird, across the street. There is an excellent nouveau Mexican restaurant; beware it is not cheap. While the rooms are nice, the plumbing is not. The water pressure is low and it takes forever to get hot water. This may be required by local regulations, but not getting hot water in the basin is not good. Shower takes good five minutes to get hot water. On the value scale it is over priced. How this hotel got rated as one of the best resorts in the U.S. is beyond me.

Unethical Management

mikebD4747QK (Foothill Ranch) on Feb 07, 2025

Booked an oceanfront room for Valentines day over three weeks ago. They offered when I booked the room an 8 course dining cuisine "Michelin Star Stay" which you had to pay extra for and was part of your stay. I called today to see what time we are suppose to attend the dining cuisine and was told that event was sold out. Lucky I called, just had a feeling about this place. When I spoke to Erin today who took my call the 8 course dining cuisine was not sold out when I book the package three weeks ago. Now Erin cannot find a manager for me to speak with. Really, no managers to be found? Yea, right, stop hiding and call me. Sounds fishy and now I am convinced how sloppy the managers runs things here at the hotel and the restaurant. Really unethical way of doing business. They charge the customer extra $$$ for a dining experience, and they don't secure you a reservation time when they have space available. Be aware of there miss-management because if I never called to confirm you will be out of luck from their incompetence.
