Nice, close to everything

Nice place very close to the water, Little Italy, and Gaslamp districts. Spacious rooms with kitchenette. It could use an update on the rooms but they were clean. The only downfall was the very thin walls. Also recommend top floor due to hearing people in rooms above.
Nice hotel

Pre-cruise hotel stay. Great selection, walking distance to cruise terminal and a variety of dining options. The morning breakfast hit the spot. Room was clean and comfortable, check in was a breeze. Just minutes from airport. Will stay there again for sure.
Nice 4-day visit to San Diego

Fantastic location. Minutes from airport, minutes to Midway Musuen, waterfront, Seaport Village, many many restaurants, great location to catch an Uber but tons of things are close enough for walking. This hotel is clean, safe and convenient. Good value for the price. Staff was friendly and helpful. In particular, Daniella helped us with a minor problem in laundry area. Service with a smile. I can't ask to be treated any better. I recommend for a family stay to see wonderful San Diego. Good place for work travel as well. The WIFI connection was fast and easy.
Don't Bother

Alloted a most depressing gloomy room. Mobile air con unit with outlet out through window which was secured by duct tape. On Ground floor right next to swimming pool and social area. So, net curtains needed to be drawn for privacy. Dark broken furniture. Completely overpriced for stay. Other rooms overlooked train line with local trolleys and Amtrak noise. There is another Residences Inn nearby, which on reflection we should have booked.
Lots of problems

I stayed here for five nights on business. First the positives - The location is close to the airport, gaslamp district, embarcadero, and downtown. That's about it. Now the negatives - The air conditioner in my room didn't work. My room faced the afternoon sun and got warm in the afternoon. Maintenance guy couldn't fix it but he was kind enough to bring in a small portable unit, which made things tolerable. The internet did not work. I kept getting kicked off. Sometimes I could get a connection but it wouldn't last for more than 5 minutes. My work computer could never make a connection. I finally gave up and used my phone as a hotspot. When you check in, they give you a piece of paper with a number to call if you have connection problems, but I knew they wouldn't be able to help so I didn't bother calling. I think they use the lowest cost service they can find, and it shows. I never did get an electronic copy of my invoice. And I never did receive my Marriott Bonvoy points. So I have to submit a claim with Marriott. Little things - $40 a day for parking in the little outdoor lot is pretty steep. Elevator was slow. Rooms are dated and tired. Marriott continues to use shampoo and soap dispensers that are impossible to read in the shower without glasses. There have been lots of complaints about this but corporate Marriott continues this idiocy. However, this isn't this hotel's fault. Overall, this hotel did nothing special.
