A little disappointing

I had last been here about 20 years ago with a girlfriend. We had terrible rain while we were here, but I remember the food being unusually good for an all-inclusive. While the weather was good this time around with my husband, son and daughter-in-law, I found the grounds disappointing. Steps everywhere, slippery, few handrails, slippery, steep, and did I say, slippery? I'm 72, and in relatively good shape but found the grounds to be trying. And, upon our arrival, there was no one there to greet us! It was an uninspiring beginning to a vacation that we were really looking forward to. And...they messed up my reservation for a massage on my first day, and didn't seem very concerned. I had no treatment . Rooms are nice, clean, comfortable. Food is good, and over-all service was good. However, the 2 hour car ride from the airport to the hotel, and the slippery stairs everywhere...well, I don't see myself going back there.

Favorite solo trip yet!

I booked at Body Holiday rather last minute and this was one of the best decisions I could have made. I was solo for my birthday and wanted somewhere that I could simply relax, completely unplug, take advantage of the daily spa treatments and have some amazing food and drinks. I got far more than I could have asked for. While I am undoubtedly not the 'norm' type of clientele at this resort, I have never felt more SAFE, CARED FOR or truly VALUED as a customer than I did at Body Holiday. I've been to Jamaica, the Dominican Republic and Mexico alone and when I say there is no place like BH I mean it. THE STAFF. Oh my goodness, they are what make this place so special. Everyone called me by my name, was incredibly friendly and accommodating, celebrated my 40th birthday with me, and never ever made me feel anything but completely welcomed and appreciated. As a single female I can't emphasize enough how important this was to me- my expectations were definitely exceeded. Digna, Craig, Kennyson, Lester, Vijay, Stephan, Brittany... the list is endless. Everyone was amazing and made sure I had the absolute best time possible. The ONLY REASON I rated this Very Good vs. Excellent was that the room (in comparison to other high-end resorts I've stayed at) left a little bit to be desired. That being said, the great news is that there is so much to do there that the only time I was ever in my room was to sleep : ) Other than that, I really can't say enough about the amazing experience I had. I understand now why nearly everyone I met was a repeat-customer! They make you feel like family at Body Holiday and I'll definitely be back. **I truly hope that this feedback is shared with management and the staff because I didn't have time to fill out the review onsite before my departure and wanted to personally thank everyone!

An outstanding break for body and soul

We arrived tired and wound up and left feeling restored and refreshed after week of exercise, massages, yoga and Pilates classes and having made new friends. It’s a wonderful formula for a holiday. After just a few days we felt fantastic. We’re already planning our return visit for next year!

The concept is still great. Some elements of the overall experience could be better.

This was our second stay at the BodyHoliday and we once again had a great time, enjoying the range of activities and entertainment on offer, including good quality food and drinks. We were glad to see that the rooms had been refurbished since we last visited 5 years ago but otherwise not much had changed. The formula seems to work and most of the other guests were also returners so that says a lot. On the positive side, the instructors are just wonderful, always friendly and chatty, and constantly super enthusiastic, which creates a really good energy and vibe around the various activities. The food selection was good at the different outlets and we enjoyed the evening entertainment as well, especially the jazz evening and the beach BBQ including fire show. There was a great atmosphere at the resort, probably the result of everyone catching up on holidays post-Covid, which helped make our week really fun and sociable. Unfortunately there were a few negatives as well, which is a real shame. The main ones for us were: sun lounger etiquette; resistance to clearing away dog mess; and the spa. > Sun loungers – apparently there is a policy whereby if you aren’t present at ‘your’ lounger for 2 hours, the staff can move your stuff. The problem is this just isn’t enforced, meaning it becomes a complete joke trying to find a ‘free’ lounger at certain points during the day, and totally impossible if you want any shade, despite there being very few people actually physically present on the beach (because obviously most people are taking advantage of the many activities on offer). It's just not reasonable to 'reserve' a lounger at 8am when you only intend to lie on it at 3pm (we saw this happening every day). It would be great if the resort could consider guest experience in this respect and enforce the policy more strictly. Some additional loungers and parasols also wouldn’t be a bad thing. > Dog mess – it’s really off-putting to see the resident dog paddling in the infinity pool, but actually quite disturbing to see its mess on the lawn and on the beach, where people could be walking/doing activities. We were really shocked to see how long it took for a couple of incidents to be cleared up, despite guests ensuring that staff were aware of the issue. > Spa – it’s great that spa treatments are part of the package but the quality of service at the spa is patchy (some treatments good, some pretty poor) and the treatment rooms themselves have seen better days (the music system appeared to be broken and the in-room showers were horrendous – dirty, dangerously slippery, with a drizzle of cold water making it virtually impossible to rinse off the product you’re meant to be rinsing off). The other issue we had was with the webroom which just didn’t work for us. We had used it before to make advance reservations for restaurants and spa treatments but this time, despite reporting the problem in advance and asking for the team to assist us in gaining access, nothing was done to enable us to log in. The reception team eventually helped us with making spa bookings but we missed out on a couple of dining experiences, which was a shame. This also underlined that some of the service aspects at the resort could be improved to make guests feel more valued.

A great second visit

This was my second visit to The Body Holiday and I'm already planning the third. The staff are lovely - they genuinely want you to have a good time and nothing is too much trouble. The wonderful Janine in the spa reception was patient and kind in scheduling treatments and getting me some extra ones. I loved my ocean view room, waking to the sound of the sea each day. There were a few niggles. Why did it take four trips to reception to obtain a returner's tee shirt? Several others reported the same issue. Staff would make a note to get me one then didn't follow through. My last visit was with someone, so the solo dining hadn't been on my radar. This time I ended up eating alone for a week until I discovered that solo travellers met in the bar then ate together. And even then, you have to book at the solo table for Tao and Windows. I felt this could have been explained on arrival. I couldn't eat at Windows because a family were given the last spaces on the solos table. This left two solos unable to eat there. I had an issue with a therapist in the spa. I was told it would be dealt with, but I'd have liked to know how - and i still paid for a treatment I wasn't happy with. Other than that, it was excellent. I came home feeling recalibrated and rested.
