Country Club ambience

HobbyHolidays (East Anglia) on May 21, 2022

Arriving at the Bel Jou is akin to arriving at a small private Country Club of which you are a privileged member. All the good things you read about this wonderful hotel are true. This was my second visit and I travelled solo. The staff look after singles extremely well so if you are in any doubt be assured that you need not fear being a solo traveller at the Bel Jou. It is a small and friendly hotel and you will soon find yourself being part of a happy group of guests. It’s that kind of place. I’m going back.

Better than we ever could imagine, just perfect

leannerH5263CC on May 12, 2022

My partner and I have just come back from an incredible break away. I do not normally leave reviews but I'm the most relaxed I think I've ever been in my life and that was largely down to the hotel. We stayed at the Bel Jou, in the garden bungalows. I am not sure where to start.... The hotel is located hillside in castries, and the views you get to enjoy everyday because of that are just breathtaking, if you have a camera, prepare yourself for those sunsets. Due to its location the hotel provides a free shuttle service to castries and the beach, I believe daily which was so helpful. Once at the beach, which had complimentary sun loungers set up for hotel guests, there was a really great guy there to greet you, there's a bar and toilets near by. It should be noted however if people struggle with mobility there are a fair few steps at the hotel. The hotel is so beautifully kept, the groundsmen work so hard and keep the grounds just stunning to walk around everyday. The hotel have their own garden where they grow their own produce and serve in the restaurants. The food was beautiful, plenty of fresh fish and local dishes, I really enjoyed it because there were more than enough options without being too much, it felt like more of a dinning experience than a buffet. The food really was incredible. We booked the ala carte also whilst we were away and that was also worth doing, it is included as well but we honestly preferred dinning with the views of the terrace. There was a little coffee shop there as well with fresh bakes and sandwiches, coffee and various tea which was a really charming feature. We only tried the bottom pool as it was our favourite spot whilst we were there. As there's a few steps, toilets and a self serve bar are provided down there. Never overcrowded at all which was why I think we were so relaxed. Oh the gyms good as well, although I think I made it 1 day and then the food and rum won. The staff were all fantastic, after the flight back I'm terrible and have forgotten names but they really make the hotel. Really lovely waiting staff. The rooms were a great size, comfy beds, robes provided, so clean. The only thing I may have liked was a blanket because I have one regardless of the heat, that is the only thing I can say. It really was just an incredible place to stay and I can't say enough about it. Thank you Bel Jou.

Excellent resort in a great location!

uk_explorer79 (Bletchley, United Kingdom) on May 11, 2022

Excellent all inclusive resort. Quite small but manages to have all the amenities you’d expect. Castries centre is very close and can be walked in 10-15 minutes. The hill that the hotel is on top of is quite steep, so careful how much rum you enjoy in town before hiking back up. The hotel offers a regular bus service if you don’t feel like the walk. The hotel offers a variety of food from a sit-down smart restaurant, a bar by the smaller pool, a rooftop bar (great wings) and of course a buffet. Unlike other all inclusive resorts we have stayed at, the buffet menu changes daily. All the food we ate was high quality, cooked well and tasty! Drinks are plentiful and cocktails made well. Barman had no trouble mixing me a drink to my own recipe (Vespa, Old Fashioned, etc) or there is a cocktail menu offered at the bar by the small pool. There is also a self-serve bar by the larger pool, where you can help yourself to beer, rum, vodka and a small selection of mixers. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable about local attractions and things to do. There is a by-order minibar selection available in your room, but there is no fridge to keep your drinks cold. I mistakenly thought the $10 bottles of wine would be 50ml but they are full size 1L bottles, great value and had some to take home! Would definitely return but without my mum in tow as she has trouble with her legs and found the number of steps at the resort a little challenging at times. Some rooms are step free (the cottages) but you will still need to use steps occasionally e.g to move between pool and Verandah buffet.

Second trip to celebrate ruby wedding

Pablo S (Gravesend, United Kingdom) on May 11, 2022

As we enjoyed the hotel before , we chose it to celebrate 40 years of marriage. The hotel gave us a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine to celebrate. The room had an iron and ironing board, tea and coffee making facilities, safe, air con fan, hair dryer, toiletries lots of hanging space, drawers and flat screen TV. The shower room is open. Pool towels were in the room and can be exchanged at Lulus cabana at the top pool. There is a coffee shop with cakes and biscuits and at four o'clock sandwiches and scones are available. There are covid restrictions in force at the hotel, mask wearing when walking in public spaces and round the buffet, hand sanitizers ,temperature check in the morning before breakfast and room cleaning every other day. Evening entertainment was varied and on the whole good. Would recommend bringing mosquito spray . The staff are very friendly and welcoming but I would like to thank the following as they go above and beyond to make you feel at home.Quincy,Jahfree for the entertainment,Madrina for looking after us at breakfast,Cyprian and Princess for keeping our glasses topped up, Michael,Samantha and the all singing all dancing (literally) Andrea. Will be returning at some time soon.

We stayed at Hotel Bel Jou for two weeks. Where to start . The staff from Toya at the front desk , ,Samantha …. yes you ! …. lobster ???? , Stasia , Princess to name a few . You are all amazing, you make the Hotel what it is . It’s not a corporate Hotel , they care for their patrons from start to finish . Our room was fabulous, couldn’t have asked for more .We had room 402 , a king size bed overlooking the pool and sea view . Food was lovely . Gotta love a strawberry martini ( an alcoholic slush puppy ??) . We may will back !!!! Now back to reality working for the NHS ….. thank you xxxx
